This is the third time my wife and I have stayed in Viewpoint Cabin. We stayed for 3 nights for half of our Honeymoon in 2015 and loved it so much we came back for a full week in 2017 and again for 3 nights in 2025. The property seems to have been well taken care of, and we were excited to see that the house and property are relatively unchanged from our previous stays. The house itself is absolutely amazing with incredible views! The mountain roads to get to the cabin are definitely an adventure but totally worth it. The cabin itself is worth the trip. But we have been blown away with how much we have enjoyed the surrounding area, specifically Blowing Rock, Boon & Grandfather Mountain areas. I had noticed that a previous review had mentioned that the deck needed repairs. However, all of the decking had been recently replaced when we arrived.
The property is secluded and has an amazing view. Quiet and very peaceful is the best part. The deck needs work I fell partially in one of the planks and hot tub likely needs to be repaired. Heat was in excess of 110 when it was opened Place was clean and comfortable. Overall good place to go just needs some basic upkeep
Overall me and the wife enjoyed our stay in the mountains, once we figured out the thermostat, everything was smooth sailin, wife gets cold very easy lol
Joy’s mountain house was exactly what we needed. The house itself was beautiful and spacious for two people. We loved the back deck with the hot tub and the window seats with mountain views. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in at a rental house. There was a pretty hike right out the front door that we took our dog on and he loved it! This was overall a great place for us to relax, unplug, and escape.
Great property. Had a very relaxing time. Cabin is perfect for couples and the views are fantastic. Hiking trail right out the front door. Cabin was spotless and as described. Would (will) definitely stay again.
It was everything I dreamed and hoped it would be. 5 stars. Wonderful and clean accommodations. The view is exactly what we hoped for. We enjoyed a kid free weekend in solitude looking at the beautiful mountains and enjoyed the hot tub. Joy is a wonderful host. We will be back again.
An amazing option to escape up into the mountains. The views from this cabin will mesmerize you from the deck, the hot tub, and the multitude of windows that bring in so much natural light. Such a comfy house that has everything you need to relax. Then, to have access to the 50 miles of trails inside the Leatherwood resort was just a sweet bonus for us as avid hikers. Joy was a great host and was readily available should we have a question. Highly recommended and hope to return someday soon.
This property is amazing. My wife and I spent a few much needed nights here in February. The variety of weather between sun, fog, snow, sleet, rain, etc. was amazing to watch as we stayed warm inside the cabin. This cabin has so much amazing attention to detail with everything seeming like it was custom built for the space. Whoever the woodworker and designer were should be given an award. We felt super comfortable, safe, warm, and just enjoyed being able to spend time with eachother away from work! Worth every penny.
My husband and I stayed at the cabin for a three-day weekend trip for our anniversary and it was simply perfect! We LOVED the gorgeous view off the deck and the hot tub. When it got too hot outside or rainy, we snuggled up in the cozy nook and enjoyed the mountain view from the comfort of inside. It felt spacious and clean while also cozy and warm. It's a little bit of a trek to get to the nearest town, and we forgot to bring shampoo/conditioner so we had to drive to Blowing Rock, about 50 min away. But we really enjoyed exploring Blowing Rock and the drive was scenic, so still fun. Just make sure you pack everything you need! Overall it was one of my favorite rental houses we've ever stayed at and we would absolutely stay again!
Beautiful property! My husband and I wanted a weekend getaway from the Christmas prep and rat race of work. This was great! Just a couple things for those headed here. Yes, it is far from anything so come prepared with food and the things you need for your stay if you don't want a 40 minute drive to the grocery store. We enjoyed an afternoon in Boone on our way up, but I do agree with the recommendation to arrive before dark. The hot tub is nice, but agree it smells a bit musty. The sunsets and the night sky are amazing out on the deck!
This house is beautiful as is the view. The set up is perfect for a getaway for two. The bathtub in the primary suite is amazing. The kitchen is mostly well appointed and the views are incredible. Joy was so easy to deal with and responded quickly to all our questions. My only complaint is the hot tub. It had been serviced apparently, but only half the jets were working and it smelled by the second day. We didn’t use again. It is just old and probably needs to be replaced. The property would be completely perfect if that experience were as first class as the rest of the house.
While it is a "challenge" to get to this home, the effort is definitely worth it. This is a beautiful, open floor plan home with wonderful amenities. The only neighbor this house has is to the south end of the property and you have to really look hard to see them through the trees. The back of the house features a wall of windows overlooking a valley and mountain range. The back deck is a great place to enjoy the views in solitude whether sitting in the hot tub, or just sitting on the porch with a book or a cold one. I'd hate to make the place more popular because I'd like to go again.

Bedbugs ALERT
1st) We found bed bugs and wound up with bites on our abdomen and back. Non negotiable. Just awful!!
2nd) the cabin is very far from the entrance unless you drive through a private drive to the immediate right. If you decide to not cut through the neighbor’s private drive, it’s a hike!
3)you are 45 minutes from any grocery store so prepare, prepare, prepare!
4) great view! The pics are accurate.
Amazing! The Viewpoint Cabin is exactly as described. It’s unique architecture and design combined with the remoteness and beauty of the landscape make this an unforgettable place to stay. The cabin is properly named as you will have a hard time finding a better view off the back porch while looking at the mountains in the backdrop. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had no issues throughout the entire renting process and trip. The cabin was very peaceful and relaxing. You feel like you’re the only one on the mountain. And if you’re a hiker or explorer, there are tons of trails near or around the cabin. Myung was more than accommodating and was quick to answer any of my questions or calls. She has literally thought of everything to make your trip as relaxing as possible. We were a little sad to learn the cabin is being sold as this would definitely be one of our regular spots to take a trip. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Overall, our stay was pleasant and I'd give it 4.5 stars. The house was very clean and more spacious than I thought. The kitchen was stocked well enough for us and the house had some extras that were nice (e.g., robes, outside hooks for hot tub towels, boxes of tissues, plenty of hangers). The bed was very comfortable and the number of windows were great for when you were inside and wanted a nice view.
Fridge: We were concerned after reading reviews of the size of the fridge so we brought a couple of coolers and ice. We did not need them. The fridge was a half fridge (not one of those dorm room ones) and we were able to fit what we needed in it. There was also a half-freezer as well, also great. I'd say that if you are bringing a ton of food and drinks a second cooler may be a nice-to-have, but for us, spending three nights there, it wasn't an issue whatsoever.
The only downside to the trip was the hot tub. It had a bit of an "off" smell to it, but nothing too too bad. After the second day, the water color continued to cloud. We did not use it on the third day. After texting Joy, she informed us it was serviced "a couple of weeks ago." Hot tubs should be serviced once per week. It was disappointing to pay for something we could not fully enjoy, as it was a requirement for booking a place for our trip.
Overall, great trip and we would definitely stay at the house again.
Lovely and very quiet house in the woods with great views of the mountains from every room and the deck. Close to trails and less than an hour from Blowing Rock. Well appointed kitchen, hot tub, bathroom tub and showers, all looking out on mountains and woods.
It was great . The mountains were a little scary in the drive up and we got a little lost but the place was wonderful with great views !! The hot tub was the best part !!
Wonderful cabin. We appreciated the view off the balcony and the large windows especially when a thunderstorm came through. Very roomy with a large common area. Had all the utensils needed for cooking a few meals. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
