About this property

Cottage #9 at Birch Knoll, Ogunquit / York Maine

Adorable seasonal 1 bedroom vintagevacation cottage in The Cottages of Birch Knoll on peaceful 13 acres of grounds with a back yard that views a field and woods behind. Very close to Ogunquit Playhouse and downtown Ogunquit. The cottage complex is 100 yards from the southern city limits of Ogunquit, the mailing address is Cape Neddick or York. We have a 5 day minimum and offer discounts to Monthly or multiple month rentals. This cottage is decorated with vintage decor and kitchen items on purpose. This cottage is 100 years old, if you want brand new everything, this is not the place for you. Pool is heated around Memorial day to early September (please confirm if this is important to you, as it changes each year)
The space
1 bedroom vacation cottage- 400 square feet. Professionally decorated.
This is a seasonal cottage condominium, not a year-round house. They are stand alone cottages owned by different people now (formerly a 1920's motel cottage complex) with shared use of grounds, heated pool, coin operated laundry room, a heated swimming pool, fire pit and acres of fields and woods with an abundance of wildlife.
Peaceful grounds, with BBQ and picnic table in a quiet peaceful backyard looking out onto green fields and a forest. Deer come out at sunset as well as turkeys and eagles.
We are situated on the perfect location on the grounds, with no cottages in front or back of us, only one on one side, for maximum privacy with in the complex. In addition there is a knoll in front of the cottage parking, where the pool & fire pit are, that blocks the view & noise of US 1 (couple hundred feet away). You feel like you are on the edge of the Forrest but just a mile to the center of Ogunquit. The bathroom is off the bedroom. When the sleeper sofa in the living room is folded out, you can not walk past it to get to the kitchen. So with more than 2 people this gets tight, until you fold the sleeper sofa up. Also, there not any closets- although in the bedroom there is a hanger bar to hang clothes and a dresser to store clothing.
Guest access
full cottage- in a complex of 21 cottages on 13 acres. Private back yard, no cottages in front or back, off to the end with wide space between the other cottages in complex. Very quiet & peaceful location within complex. The following is shared with the entire complex of 21 cottages: Pool, laundry room, firepit and open grounds.
Other things to note
There is a lot to do in Ogunquit & York, beaches, restaurants, plays, sing-a-long piano bar, antiquing and just hanging out and enjoying the lack of humidity.

About the host

We live in Central Florida year-round, with the goal of one time staying the full summers in Ogunquit, ME at our seasonal cottage there. We stay there several weeks a year and love it, we have decorated for "us" and hope you enjoy it. We are semi-retired and have a Vintage Market in Tavares, FL. We decorate all of our properties with some vintage items for fun and nostalgia. I also have horses and compete with them some.

Why they chose this property

This cottage complex is just 100 yards south of the Ogunquit Playhouse & 1 mile to the center of Ogunquit. While it is outside the city limits, it provides a nice peaceful refuge from the crowds while being just minutes away. The grounds attract a lot of wildlife, especially birds (turkeys seasonally) and even deer occasionally in the summer. It is beautiful and peaceful out back looking over the open grounds.

What makes this property unique

Our cottage complex is close to town but just far enough away to be at the edge of the forest and is very peaceful and scenic. This cottage is across from the community pool (less than 100 feet).
