Great place, exactly as advertised! Host was very responsive when needed. Plenty of room for the whole family. Beach was great; enjoyed the clear water, kayaks, and paddle boards provided. Would definitely stay here again!
It was everything we hooed for in a lake home stay. Very clean and right on the lake! Great views! We took advantage of the kayaks and paddleboards. Will be coming back next summer.
We were pleased with the accommodations provided - very clean, plenty of towels and cooking supplies provided. The tram to the lake worked great, and we took several walks on the nearby paved paths. The view at sunset was gorgeous, and there was a nice breeze on the porch. We were happy drinking water was provided as the sulfur smell from the sinks and showers was overwhelming, but the property is well maintained and overall we had a lovely stay.

I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay! I apologize for the sulfur smell, but thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will have a plumber check out the water heater immediately to see what's going on. Have a blessed rest of your summer!
The VRBO was located on the lake, which was nice. There was an elevator that would take you down to the beach. The views were lovely. The rooms were spacious, and all the family members who stayed slept in them. The owner (Trevin) was very attentive and responsive to any issues. The one issue that prevented me from giving it a 5-star rating was that the water pressure in the primary suite was extremely weak, and the water would barely drip out at times.
Overall a very nice place for the price range. It was really nice that there were 2 inflatable kayaks and also 2 paddle boards available for use.The only thing that would have been nice is if the dock had some cleats on it to tie a boat off to. We made due, but it just seems silly that they weren't there.Otherwise, everything was just as advertised with no surprises. The lake itself is fantastic! Trevin was very responsive to questions as well.Thank you
We had an awesome stay! The beach was super clean, and the mattresses and pillows were so comfy. Trevon was super responsive, and we found everything we needed for cooking, plus beach towels, kayaks, and even drinking water. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the relaxed vibe. Highly recommend!
We had the most amazing time at this beautiful lakefront property. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the peaceful surroundings and the view of the lake. The home itself was large, clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was incredibly responsive and welcoming, offering great local recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. We had the best time on the lake! We spent our days kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing right off the dock (the host provided kayaks and paddle boards, which was amazing). The water was so clear and perfect for swimming. Evenings were spent watching the beautiful sunsets on the lake, sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and stargazing. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with a great lake and all the comforts of home, this is the place. Highly, highly recommend!
Great location, Incredible views, Fun water activities, Exceptional host
My husband, son, and I wanted a few days of quiet time on a lake to fish, float and relax with a few days of extended family time with aunts, uncles and cousins for water sports, splashing, S'mores and fun. This property delivered well for both with plenty of indoor and outdoor space, two fire pits, extra chairs and water activities (SUPs, kayaks, floats, etc.).
The lake water is unbelievably clear and clean, which was a big bonus for us.
Check in and departure were easy as it gets and perhaps the cherry on top was the fact that our host was incredibly welcoming, understanding and 100% accessible and responsive if and when we needed anything.
We feel like we've found our favorite new spot for renting any time we get back to the Ottertail Lakes region.
My kids and I stayed at Trevin’s place and had a wonderful time! From check-in to check-out our stay was great. Trevin was a very gracious host and had great communication. The views of sunrise and sunset were beautiful. The decks made time outside more enjoyable and being right on the lake was fun. I’d say the only downside was that the yard is a bit small. My kids are free range and used to excessive space, but still has a great time in the yard that is available. The walking trail being literally right out the door more then made up for the small yard. Would highly recommend staying.
This was the best weekend ever. We could not have asked for a better location for our family end of summer get together. The place has it all. Padldeboards, kayaks, and a great dock, with elevator access. In addition the kitchen is well equipped for post lake family meals. Plenty of dishes, cups, and cook ware. The bedrooms all have brand new beds, linens, and pillows. Very comfortable! Also - Tevin's place was immaculately clean! Best vacation rental cleaning ever!!!. Tevin was very communicative, and made us feel welcome in this home! If you're looking for a lake cabin, with fantastic views, that feels like home, then this place is very comfortable, and has everything you'll need.
Our vacation to the heart of lakes country was excellent! The cabin is close to Perham and all you would need as far as groceries, gas, etc. We made use of all the amenities. Bon fires by the beach and at the top of the hill. Bring flip flops or aqua socks for the shoreline. Swimming is awesome and the view can not be beat! The rooms are large enough and plenty of closet space. We stayed for almost a week and didn't have any issues with space or the facility. Trevin was available whenever we had a question. The cabin is also located on a scenic trail for walking/running/biking that is amazing. We give this rental 10/10 and would gladly rent again in the future.
Our group of friends stayed here for a long weekend, and it was great! Checking in went smoothly, the house was essentially spotless, and the location was spot on. The beds were quite comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils. There was drinking water available since the tap was well water and it did smell a little... but that's normal. Plenty of parking for our three cars. There's also a super nice paved trail very close to the house. The tram down to the lake was kinda neat, honestly never used one before so it was a novelty lol. Lake was sooo nice, and the weather was perfect for fishing from shore or the dock... not that the host can control any of that. Overall a fantastic experience!
We really enjoyed our stay on Little McDonald Lake! The location is fantastic and the home is clean and comfortable. Loved having kayaks, paddle boards and floats for the water, along with outdoor seating, grill and two fire pits. Kitchen was well stocked, including a regular and keurig coffee pot!
Host was easy to get ahold of with questions and responded quickly.
We loved being able to bring our dog and the tram to the lake was awesome. We appreciated the drinking water provided, as the well water has a pretty strong smell, especially if you’re not used to it. The oven and broiler didn’t work during our stay, but host is getting it fixed.
This is a great rental if you want easy access to an incredible, clean lake and is also less than 30 minutes from the Trolls in Detroit Lakes! Grocery and other stores within 10-15 minutes as well.
We really like the Perham area and wanted to stay at a cabin in the area to spend time with friends and family. The cabin was spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The owner was very easy to communicate with and was extremely friendly. We loved the views, and the lake was so clean. The cabin had lots to offer like fun lake amenities (paddle boards, floaties, kayaks, lots of beach towels) We had rented a pontoon and lily pad with the help of referrals from the owner which made for extra fun. The kids had so much fun swimming even though our weather wasn't the greatest. I would definitely pack and use water shoes when swimming on the beach. Lots of broken shells. We had so much fun fishing of the dock and caught lots of sunfish! The cabin is located on top of a big hill, so the views were amazing but had to take a tram down to the beach. The kids loved riding on it, but the tram was broken down for part of our stay. The owner was extremely quick with any response from us to fix anything and was very helpful! The kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of dishes and cooking equipment. We were glad that we brough a few indoor activities due to the weather. The cabin did not have any games or cards. We had gone into town and went swimming at the local community center. Even though we had a few hiccups with our stay we would definitely stay here again the owner is very easy to work with and we had a great time! Thanks Trevin! We look forward to next time. Kim, Dave and Madi
The cabin is cute and the lake is very nice. Fully equipped with everything you might need. Nearby lake towns are also such fun little spots Trevin was easy to reach both before and during our stay. However when we arrived it was very clear the cabin had not been cleaned. The only thing that seemed to have been done was fresh bedding so we were thankful for that. But dust, grime, dead bugs everywhere. Hair in the sinks, showers, baths. Dirty mirrors and toothpaste stains on dirty bathroom rugs. I spent the first few hours cleaning and doing laundry. I let Trevin know and he was very apologetic. Sent him pictures and asked to be refunded the cleaning fee. He obliged and we appreciated that compromise. So unfortunately that experience really colors this review. Had we arrived to a clean cabin I would have given a 5 star rating. I do believe this was an issue with Trevin’s cleaners just not showing up as they were supposed to and not the host however so I feel it’s worth giving this place a chance for anyone considering. I’m fairly certain it wouldn’t happen again.
