My family and I have been returning to this charming summer house for 30 years. As a child, I enjoyed its cozy ambiance with my cousins, and now, as a parent, it's even more delightful. The house is exceptionally well-maintained, offering plenty of space with numerous bedrooms and bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen, perfect for families. Its location, just three rows from a very private family friendly beach, ensures easy access to the sun and surf, while proximity to bike paths, great golf, South Beach, and Harbor Town adds to the convenience. Our most recent stay here was a nostalgic journey filled with new memories. We’ll be back again soon! Highly recommend for a quintessential Sea Pines experience!
This beautiful home is a very short walking distance to the beach and the ocean. It’s located near South Beach. It also has a well stocked kitchen and a barbecue grill for cooking. The biking trails are amazing!

Air conditioning a real problem and other issues
The location of this property was great. Unlike the location the house was far less than perfect. The biggest problem was that the A/C did not provide adequate cooling. With the thermostat set to 72 degrees in the house the temp in the house would rise to 78-80 by mid afternoon and stay there till after 10 pm when the outside temp was 84-86. Mid-day temp outside was 94-96. We asked several neighbors about their A/C and they advised they had no problem.
We communicated with the owner regarding the A/C who had an HVAC company inspect the A/C on two days. They found that the filter was very dirty and replaced it. They advised the unit was working as expected. The owner commented that the A/C was doing its best given the conditions. Note that the A/C is a 3 ton unit for a 2,700 square foot house. According to American Standard this house should have a 4 ton unit.
We advised the owner of other issues,
1. Mixer doesn't work
2. Blender only partially works
3. Patio furniture in poor condition, coffee table falling apart, seat cushions have large holes
4. Some fans don't work or don't work properly
5. Holes in sheets in downstairs master bedroom
6. Potential electrical risk - exposed wiring.
7. Based on our experience renting properties in Sea Pines for over 20 years we were surprised to have only one set of towels in the bathrooms and no starter set of hand soap, etc.
We have pictures but are unable to post on VRBO.
Good luck
Great house. Lots of retro decorations comfortable. Well equipped. Two of the bedrooms are beneath the kitchen dining room area and it can be a little noisy but definitely bearable. We will definitely be back. Super close to the beach which was fantastic.
Great location for kids. Easy easy access to beach. Mix of upstairs and downstairs bedrooms works great for mixed age children. Host was extremely helpful when we had questions.
The property was a short walk to the beach and a short bike ride to South Beach! The bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice and every bedroom had it’s own full bathroom. The kitchen was wee stocked. We had a fantastic stay!!!
Our stay at 8 Cedar Waxwing was amazing. The property is beautiful and just as described. Beach access was very easy, and the beach itself was not crowded, even during a holiday week. Judy was terrific to work with and was able to solve our one issue quickly and easily. We look forward to our next stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at 8 Cedar Wax Wing. The house was comfortable and met all our needs for our family of 9. The owners provided us with all the information we needed and were quick to respond to a minor plumbing issue. However, our most favorite place was the beach. It is one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever visited. A wonderful, relaxing stay for the whole family!
The house was bigger than I imagined. And the 3rd house from the Beautiful White sands of South Beach. Gated community made it safe. Fully furnished. Great Host. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Overall it's a fantastic experience, except the air conditioner. There is one thermometer to serve both floors, first floor is too cold for us, may lower than 70, but the second floor is still hot and hard to reach the set temperature of 75.
ALL furniture and beds were extremely uncomfortable and worn out
The location was great. The house was big enough but no one slept well the entire week because of uncomfortable beds and couches which makes for a not so great week. It’s hard to enjoy time away when your body hurts all week. Teflon pans need to be replaced. Did not use them because of deep and plentiful scratches. Upstairs was very hot. Downstairs very cold. No tv in family room upstairs. Sliding doors difficult to open. Toilets too small for normal sized people. Shower downstairs doesn’t drain well. For the price, I would have expected better quality accommodations. Would come back for the same price if furnishings were improved considerably.
We had a great stay at this home in April 2021. We had more than enough room as a family of 5 and loved the location! The beach is a short walk away, as are the bike trails (we easily biked to breakfast several mornings at the Salty Dog). The home had all the basics we needed, but we did pack a smaller tv and Roku after reading other reviews - there is a tv in the home, but it’s downstairs, not on the main kitchen/living room level. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics you should need and the screened porch offers a great place to enjoy evening meals. Overall, it was the perfect place to spend spring break. Our kids (11, 9 and 9) are already asking when they can come back :).
The house is dated but everything works well. We were there for a holiday and cooking was no problem. The location is perfect as the beach is a very short private walk.
Really liked the house and location. The proximity to the beach was wonderful. I do believe with 4 bedrooms and 2 living areas there should be more than the lone television downstairs. It was not a big detractor from the home/stay.
