I can't recommend this house enough. Our family of 4 stayed for a few days on our first visit to Portland. We want to come back to Portland just to stay in the house again! The hosts are very nice and go out of their way to add nice touches like fresh cut flowers and snacks. The house is cozy, clean, comfortable, and well stocked. It feels very separate and private. The view and deck are incredible! We enjoyed the house almost as much as exploring Portland.
This property is absolutely stunning. It is located on top of a hill and has views over Portland towards the mountains. The property is a great size with two generous bedrooms, a lovely bathroom, large kitchen/diner/lounge and a separate utility room with washer and drier. The kitchen is fully stocked and the bedrooms have multiple pillow/duvet/blanket options. The host, Jill, is delightful and provided us with so much support before we arrived and during our stay. The area is really nice with families and cute coffee shops. Mt Tabor (a big park) is nearby and is lovely for sunny day strolls. We stayed for 6 weeks with our newborn baby. The property has everything needed for babies and children including a cot and changing mats. We had a lovely time and loved the property. We will definitely stay again when we next visit Portland.
The property was just like the listing. The views are amazing! The little touches of good coffee (and cream) and fresh cut flowers were lovely. Beautiful neighborhood.
The Flying Whale is an outstanding place to stay in Portland. Everything from the cleanliness, to the view, to the comfy beds made it a wonderful visit. Jill, the host, was friendly, helpful and included many special touches such as a snack basket, fresh flowers and everything needed for your morning coffee. We will definitely stay here again.
This Mt. Tabor house is delightful! The house is spacious and well appointed. The owner added many extra touches including fresh flowers, fresh coffee beans and a wonderful variety of snack items for our use. The view from the wrap around deck is wonderful. We were graced with delightful spring weather and we highly recommend this house for your stay in Portland.
This place was so open and inviting. We felt at home the minute we walked in. Everything was decorated perfectly and there were so many small touches that made the experience so nice- books/games, snacks and an espresso machine, just to name a few! The view was amazing as well. It felt like a little oasis!
My husband and I spent the last 2 nights of our trip to Oregon at the Flying Whale. Jill is a great host and thought of everything we could need. There were beautiful fresh flowers in every room. The kitchen was stocked with fresh coffee beans and a nice assortment of tea. There was a container of half n’ half waiting in the fridge. The beds were super comfortable. We didn't do any laundry but the laundry room was stocked with several eco-friendly detergents. There was a nice lavender moisturizer cream in the bathroom, along with hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. Every morning I walked out to the open living/dining area to view the best sunrise. Parking is a breeze as Jill allows you to park in the driveway right next to the front door. She was also very accommodating when I had to change our vacation plans at the last minute due a death in the family. Our stay at the Flying Whale was a great way to wrap up our Oregon vacation.
If you have other properties in your trip folder, I'm here to tell you the search is over, book this location.
We were on a road trip from AZ. This was a stop in the middle of the trip for us. The owners were so accommodating and kind, letting us drop our bags off early while they cleaned the house on day one.
The house is so amazing. Very comfortable and cozy, amazing views, and close (walking distance) to Mt. Tabor recreational area which is amazing, cafés like Coquine which is walking distance in the neighborhood and had my teen and child begging to go back, and a cute mini downtown area with restaurants, movie's and more.
It is close to downtown, less than 3 hours from Seattle, and close to Multnomah Falls.
My kids did not want to leave they were ready to move in. They also gave great detail to provide premium coffee, teas, and snacks. As well as top of the line toiletries adding to the comfort of the home.
The owners live on the first floor, and are kind and attentive, we found it to be private enough for us, and convenient to have them close by as they delivered a few essentials to us during the visit.
Don't hesitate, this property is worth everything it lists to be. Book this listing and have a great vacation! Thank you Jill!!

Thank you so much for your kind review, Amanda. It was a pleasure meeting and hosting you and your family, and I hope that you all are enjoying the rest of your summer adventures!
Great place. Easy check in, great communication. The view is incredible, and the common space, both indoors and outdoors is airy and well decorated. Beds are comfortable, and the host left a bunch of things to enhance our experience (snacks, firewood, drinks, etc.). Neighbor is safe and within walking distance to Mt Tabor and the montavilla restaurants. There is only one bathroom, but if you can get past that it's truly an exceptional stay. Planning on returning here when returning to Portland of possible!
