About this property

Colorful Roseway Bungalow - a classic old Portland charmer!

Colorful & relaxing: your stay is sure to be pleasant in this easy, convenient, and charming Roseway neighborhood home. The 101-year-old house has two queen bedrooms, and an upstairs lounge area has double futon and double bed. The living room couch also pulls out into a double. Mattresses are new, towels and sheets are high quality. The furnishings are fun, funky, and not fancy ~ never compromising comfort. You'll enjoy a large kitchen with lots of countertops and storage space, a big fridge, and a 6-burner Viking cooktop. Within a 10-minute walk you'll find some great restaurants, but you might just want to stay in!

To note:
~Touchpad entry - no key necessary.
~The house is a nice size, much larger than your average two bedroom place.
~Street parking is readily available and ask host if you need driveway parking, it's shared.
~ There's no enclosed yard - pets must be on leash when outside.
Backyard is wide open and available for you to use - just know that it's not private. It's wide open to the driveway shared by the neighbors, and I'm also building a sweet mother-in-law cottage at the back/side of the property, so there may be a construction worker or two back there. The activity is unlikely to be disruptive and won't be in your vision (when you're indoors--totally possible to ignore if you prefer.) The front yard and front porch are all yours to enjoy privately, but don't hesitate to use the open and in-process backyard too!

Cozy and lovely Portland home!
I stayed in this house with 4 of my family members that were visiting Portland for the first time. We loved staying here! There are plenty of comfortable sleeping spaces, sitting spaces, and a cute front patio. We loved the comfortability of the house, as well as all of the detail our host put into this house. The location is perfect for airport travel, as well as getting to all corners of the city. We really appreciated her effort at making sure we loved our stay. We are so grateful we got to stay here!

Our favorite so far
My husband said he thinks this is his favorite VRBO stay so far and I agree. Michelle was really communicative about any questions and incredibly welcoming with snacks and personal notes. The house... it is so comfortable! The beds, extra linens, light blocking blinds, full kitchen, cozy living room, supplies for both bathroom and spices, fans for each bedroom. It had everything we needed and then some. But it was the decorating... the art and found pieces were done so well. We really enjoyed feeling like it was an inviting, personal space. And it was SO CLEAN! I really appreciated that. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful Home in Portland
We had a great stay in Portland visiting family. The location of the house was perfect for us as we have family in Portland and in Vancouver and it was only a 20-minute drive to either place. Our son flew in from Salt Lake and it was a 15-minute drive to the airport. The house and yard were beautiful and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The house is located in a friendly neighborhood with many people out walking. The Safeway grocery store was nearby and within walking distance. Our host (Michelle) was the best and was very easy to communicate with. The only thing missing on this trip was getting to meet her. Next time for sure.

Beautiful and super clean property - the host was amazing!
My husband and I stayed at the Colorful Roseway Bungalow for 4 nights and we absolutely loved it. The house was amazingly clean AND allowed us to stay with our two dogs, which is an impossible find. The host, Michelle, thought of everything. Everywhere I turned, there was a small convenience or thoughtful item: - Hmm, I think I'd like to sit with my laptop on the couch this afternoon, I wonder if there's an outlet nearby. Yes, there is! - I'm carrying a wet dog in my arms and I need to turn on the light in the bedroom, I wish I could turn it on with my foot. Oh, I can! - Shoot, I forgot to bring my raw honey from home for my tea. Wait, there's some here in the fridge! Michelle had live plants/flowers in almost every room (yes, even in December) and left us a bottle of wine, chocolate, popcorn, and a bottle of Topo Chico. The bed was super comfy and I piled it high with extra quilts that were provided. Michelle also, miraculously, didn't mind our two dogs who were unusually barky and annoying after being cooped up for almost the whole week prior because of the "atmospheric river" we were experiencing. When I texted her to see if she had a flashlight for a late night walk with the dogs, she brought one right up to us. We love Portland (especially the food - don't forget to check out Pizzeria Otto right down the street) and we would love to stay at the Colorful Roseway Bungalow if Michelle will have us again. :)

Hi! I am so excited to have you stay in my sweet home. I've lived here for 10+ years, the most recent chunk of that time in the renovated apartment in the basement of the house. So I'll be nearby for questions or assistance, but definitely out of your way.
I'm from Alaska-- been there? Know people? Let's talk! It's my second favorite place, after Portland of course. My favorite Portland things are the restaurants and many varied eateries, vintage and thrift shopping, bookstores, cafes, parks, wineries, and shops. I'd love to make recommendations for you!

Why they chose this property

This 100-year old home is located in the Roseway District. It's a typical Portland bungalow full of color, charm and character, with just enough updates to make it truly relaxed and comfortable. You'll find everything you may need for staying in, or heading out. The bus-stop is across the street, along with a Safeway grocery store. Within one or two blocks are the sweetest little bakeries, a bagel shop, a wine shop, excellent Vietnamese food, a neopolitan pizza place, and a wonderful vintage/thrift shop. There's so much more within a few more blocks, including two amazing donut places, a golf-course, lovely parks, and food cart pods!
As for getting around - you'll be centrally located between the airport and Portland downtown, both so convenient. Heading to the Gorge or mountains is easy! Heading to the coast towns and beach? Easy again. You'll be staying in a quaint residential neighborhood but convenient and quick access to all that Portland has to offer.

One thing to note! The backyard is undergoing a landscape/cottage renovation this summer - it's out of the way, but there may be some activity in the backyard. I'll be sure to let you know timing of possible work. AND, the backyard won't be as inviting and cute as usual! The front porch and yard will be private and all yours, of course. Please let me know if this is a concern and I'll work with you on details :).
