Guests have full, private access to Dolphin Cottage, including the entire home, two ocean-view porches, gas grill, beach chairs, and direct access to the private beachfront just steps from the house. Guests also have access to Island Club amenities, including pools, hot tub, and complimentary kayaks and bikes. A golf cart garage is available if a golf cart is rented separately.

The Island Club team respects guest privacy while remaining available as needed. Guests may contact the team with questions before or during their stay. Staff can assist with ferry services, golf cart rentals, luggage coordination, and local recommendations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit.

Dolphin Cottage is located on North Captiva Island, a quiet, car-free barrier island known for pristine beaches, abundant wildlife, and classic Old Florida charm. The area near Captiva Pass is especially popular for fishing and wildlife viewing, including dolphins, manatees, tarpon, and coastal birds. The island offers a peaceful, natural setting with minimal development.

North Captiva Island is accessible only by ferry, private boat, or small private plane. There are no cars on the island, and golf carts are the primary mode of transportation. Golf carts are available to rent separately. The Island Club team can assist with ferry and golf cart arrangements. The nearest airports are in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda.

Due to the island’s remote location, guests should plan ahead and bring groceries and essentials, as shopping options are limited.

Golf carts may be rented separately. A $2,000 pre-authorization hold is required for golf cart rentals and will be released after inspection at checkout.

Needs some updates

Perfect location and easy access to the beach. All the furniture was uncomfortable to sit in. Only had two chairs for the beach. Not all the outlets worked in the bedroom so we had to charge them in the living room and kitchen.

Beautiful Vacation

This was the perfect vacation for a getaway with adult friends. This house wasn’t very clean, but had mostly what we needed. If we came back, though, I would not rent this house again.

Nice getaway!

The home was clean which is very important the kitchen was well supplied to cook what ever you wanted. The surrounding bushes and trees needs some trimming up but otherwise all was good.

Only minor suggestion: supply shampoo, measuring spoons and aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Those are cheap items that are easily supplied (and that will last for some time).

Beautiful view, clean nice beach

We stayed here for fishing. Unfortunately the fishing is not a good as we hoped from this spot in the beach. There is a good drop off close to shore and strong currents. Surprisingly not a huge variety of fish. Ladyfish, sheeps head by the docks and catfish at night and Snook that almost never bite because they are targeted by numerous boats all day long. The second day we walked the other side of the island and fished. It was great. Lots of bait fish and tons of fish biting. Highly recommend this island for a vacation. Beautiful

Wonderful breathtaking beach stay

Location, breathtaking, beach house is beautiful and has everything you need but maybe needs a little love put into it. Not a lot but a little :-) Only minor point was the top bedroom was just too hot for us, air con wasnt brilliant up there, so we spent most of the holiday in bedroom number 2 downstairs as much cooler. The house had everything you need and was a fantastic place to stay right on the beach. Will be back and would recommend to anyone who wants that fantastic perfect beach, clear water, fantasy retreat. The perfect place for me to propose to my now fiance. We saw dolphins nearly every day, as well as all kinds of other beautiful wildlife. People on the island are lovely and friendly and getting back and forth with supplies and luggage was made surprisingly easy and carefree. Would recommend.

The island is wonderful, Dolphin Cottage needs some TLC!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My rental experience was average. I had unanswered questions since booking in February and actually found the transportation resources to be most helpful, even for the cottage questions I had. The Cottage itself is tired. Curtains are stained, the screen doors don't slide and are torn, the outdoor cushions were filthy and clearly are left outside constantly without being touched, the couch in the family room is ripped, there were no outdoor trash bins for trash removal, the golf cart was extremely difficult to turn as well as rusty, the water smelled like sulfur and was not good for showering, and the decks/railings feel unsafe and have what appear to be some pretty big cracks. The location of the Cottage is wonderful and the views were what provided the best part of the stay. I will be back for a visit to the island but will choose a different place to stay.

It could use some updating and a refresh, yes, but it had the charm of an old beach cottage that you would expect. It was decorated in a chic way and was perfect for the two of us. We had no issues with the home and thought it was an adorable place. Our biggest complaint was the fiasco checking in and the boat dock slip. We were told they would be there until 5. We showed up at 4:45 and the property manager had already left for the day so it took a lot back and forth with people on the grounds to figure out our golf cart and check in information. Our boat slip was assigned to two different boats so we were dealing with trying to find a spot every time we came back in from the water. It was definitely disorganized.

Love the location, rental sub par for the price.

Perfect , beautiful location, over priced for the quality of the home. Was charged a cleaning fee and linen fee, but was told to strip the bed sheets, wash and dry all towels. And do dishes. No service check in time or check out time. Had to switch golf carts 3 times in 4 day due to mechanical issues, and was difficult time to do that. No management seen at any time on the whole trip.

019 dolphin cottage

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Although my kids had a good time because they enjoy the water and fishing . I was very disappointed on how things at the island have changed. Several times I witnessed staff members around the kitchen or those around the island flirting with guests or arguing and cursing at each other. One day as I was picking up breakfast for my kids, the chef cursed at another staff member and threw the bacon at her which then caused her to curse at him. Every single golf cart they handed me had issues, throughout my stay I was given about 5 and even then the last one was still stalling or going very slow. The house where we stayed at was not clean, you can tell the blankets were dirty and we’re not cleaned from the last use. The bathrooms were still dirty, water was not draining in the showers. The house says it sleeps 7 but it truly only sleeps 6 individuals. The house photos make it seem like the house has access to a dock pier to fish when it doesn’t which is the main reason why I rented that one in the first place. For the amount of money that it cost to stay there the staff should be sweeter and nicer. Honestly from the moment you walk out of the ferry staff should be wearing tropical clothing so it’s eAsier to identify them from a crowd at times it was hard to even know who was a staff member and who was not. Restaurants should stay open later. For those wondering about the boat house restaurant don’t waste your money eating there. When you walk in the restaurant looks like a run down dennys, considering each plate is around 45-65 dollars you should be walking into a 5 star restaurant. It’s called the boat house but you really have no view to the boats or the water , there are maybe only 5 tables if that, the chef was rude and no one is wearing gloves as they cook or serve your food. I personally saw staff members grabbing food items like bacon with their hands and then touching their faces.

We are always totally prepared that all of life's conveniences just can't be expected on N. Cap but we do prefer that all elements of the rented home advertised are provided. We did not have internet or the promised direct TV for our entire stay. While this was likely not the fault of the Island Club we would have preferred to be compensated for this lack of a substantial amenity. I will say the staff that attempted to fix it (but not successfully) were very nice and professional.

The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could possibly need for cooking. The home is advertised as having a king size bed but it does not. There is a Queen upstairs and two twins on the main level. It worked out as we chose to sleep in the two twins as it was just my husband and myself. Otherwise we very much enjoyed our stay. The island is beautiful and the home is very private.

Everything well organized: boat trip, gulf card, transportation of luggage to the flat ...We enjoyed the private beach (the cottage is defineately not on the wrong side of the island), crossing the island for sunset is only a short trip by the gulf cardthe rooms and kitchen are clean and well equipped, I only wonder why nobody clean up the mess under the house from the trash and broken equipement (maybe I ́m too German) which would only takes 5min. Highly recommended location. Some minor disadvantages mentioned in prior reports are true, but come on, this is like paradise.

Choose it for the view

This was a very nice property. It was very tastefully decorated and the amenities were more than adequate. It is showing signs of age/wear but was still a beautiful property to stay in. We had issues with the cart, ice maker, and stopper in the bathtub but most were addressed or corrected by the management company. We had items damaged during the shuttle transport but those were taken care of as well.

The Dolphin Cottage name is spot on....

North Captiva is a special place. If you're looking for a simple 2BR cottage to relax and enjoy sunrise, dolphins, boat watching, shelling, sandy beach bar and sunsets - this checks the box. Great location. Beautiful sunrise from the master bedroom bed.

Beautiful, quiet place to unplug

My only issues were the golf cart being given to us uncharged. We had to push it about a 1/2-3/4 mile to our house. Also harder than it should be to get reservations at On the Water and the Boathouse. Otherwise it was a wonderful vacation and we are definitely going back!!
