About this property

Village House, 5 Floors, 150 Years Old In The Heart Of The Village

This is a lovely village house in the heart of a pitoresque village. The village has many restaurants and a lot to offer. The best part is that the house is in the middle of the village, protected by the other houses -and the street is very quiet. The house consists of a total of 5 floors. The house is over 150 yeras old and has a lot of history and stairs. 5 rooms over so many floors signifies many stairs. The house has no garden, but we have a place where we put the table outside.

1st floor . Has direct access to street level. Here we have a dining table and a sofa that converts into a double bed and a large closet . Furthermore, there is a new shower, a washing machine and a separate toilet and sink . This whole floor can be closed off - this allows guests to have this for themselves, for example if you are two generations on vacation. This room is Perfect for the ones who don't like the stairs.. The washing machine is brand new and is nicely hidden behind a cupboard.

The 2nd floor consists of kitchen and dining area with a large Provencal fireplace .
The long table seats up to eight people. From here one can see the flames in the fireplace or converse with the current Chef de Cuisine. The kitchen has kettle , coffee maker , stove and dishwasher . Our moto is 'what you use you replace', so we allow coffee, tea, salt , pepper , herbs and other perishable food items to be available. Use it or buy new for yourself . Various cleaning supplies in the cupboard under the sink . Everything within crockery and cutlery is obviously in place .

3rd floor . Consists of master bedroom with den and attached bathroom . The den has a two story bed (IKEA).This is Perfect for example when you have children. In the bathroom there is a shower , wash basin and toilet -all brand new (April 2014) At one point there is a low ceiling on the stairs between 3 and 4 floor, the house is almost 150 years old and has been built in layers. Hence the stairs....

4 floor consists of one bedroom (single bed ) and living room . The living room has high ceilings and Velux Window , and in addition there is a built-in terrace . In the living room you can make the sofa into a double bed. The terrace gives us much pleasure -you have a lovely mountain view (lit up in the evening) . The built-in terrace has a sink with hot and cold water as well as a fridge to keep the drinks cold.

The 5th floor consists of one bedroom with a sofa bed. Here we also have an air condition machine.

In addition : There is wireless internet and TV. Instructions for different electrical equipment located in a folder in the kitchen.

We are a French Norwegian family with many children. We love languages and tennis, Cotignac has two tennis courts - and many good children friendly restaurants.

Why they chose this property

Provence is great, but Cotignac is the best. Small village where everything is so french, the people are nice and friendly and the food is good. Not too many tourists and a very quiet street. Also the house has (to us) such charm we could not resist. Since the man of house is French this was also a wonderful occasion to have a small 'pied-à-terre' in France.
