Loved the property! We had a good time, spent a lot of time at the lake, including using the kayaks and row boat. The house was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. Highly recommend as a place to stay!
Had a great time kayaking and hanging out on the dock and on the screened porch. Reminded me of the house where I grew up. Plenty of space for 5 of us with room to spare.
This was the best location for relaxing and getting off the grid. Myself and family throughly enjoyed and decompressed. Would definitely do again should I ever need a location this large again.
Beautiful property! We had a great time with our family of 5 and our dog. The house is so historic, it’s fascinating. We have family in the area and it was a beautiful spot for us all to gather, with lots of space inside and out. The lake is quiet and we had fun in the kayaks and canoe, and just floating. The dead end dirt road across the street is a nice place for a walk and has trails off the road. We loved our week!
This is a great place with everything needed for a country stay. The only negative was that the dump wasn't open on our check- out day so we couldn't dispose of our last bag of trash and were not able to take it with us. I'd recommend an alternative solution by the host for trash removal
The Red House is a spacious, historic home with plenty of room for eight guests as well as our little four legged friend. We so appreciated being able to bring him along. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and nicely sized. We were in town for a wedding at All Rose Farm, conveniently located just down the road, which made the stay even easier for us.For anyone drawn to the property for its lakeside view, just note that the path down to the water is quite steep. It wasn’t an issue for us, but it could be challenging for anyone with mobility concerns, and the handrail could use some repair.Overall, it’s a wonderful place to stay — charming, roomy, and perfectly located.
A well-kept house with a history, with steps down to a smaller lake. Very peaceful by the lake with a sitting area. Close to the road, not an overly busy one, and hardly any traffic at night. We were only there for a few days, did not do any cooking or use the kayaks.
Had a lovely family getaway and stayed here in this cute house, paddled around the lake, fished, visited the farmers market, and explored the Monadnock area.
My mom and I and are two dogs were visiting relatives. We visited a few shops in Peterborough and the local area. Everything with the house was just as advertised. It was clean and had everything we needed. It rained most of our visit but the last day we went to Pack Monadnock in Miller State Park. The views were amazing. We also stopped at Ben’s Sugar Shack for souvenirs and had a delicious breakfast at the Peterborough Diner. There is a small grocery store in Greenfield to get most food and a bigger store in Peterborough with a much bigger selection. The road outside the house is busy during the day but it didn’t affect anything we were doing. It is hard to see traffic when pulling out of the driveway.Overall it was a good trip and we would stay again.
My family had a great time with our stay at this quaint home. Very clean and comfortable. The home had everything we needed. Went swimming, kayaking, hiking, enjoyed the screen porch, visited nearby towns and did some shopping. Already plan on going back next year.
We had a lovely visit in this historic home on a beautiful lake. We sat on the screened-in porch, slept comfortably in the bedrooms and took the kayaks out for calm morning and evening paddles.
The house is old and very charming, yet very comfortable. We spent the week swimming, kayaking, and hiking in the area, then unwound on the screen porch. We would definitely stay there again.
Like staying in grandmas summer lake house! A group of four teachers stayed here while attending a summer conference nearby. We especially loved the screen porch and relaxing on the lake after a long day!
My family and I loved spending time in this charming old house. My grandkids spent the week at a day camp. We liked hanging out on the porch and on the dock. It was a very hot week, but the fans helped make it bearable. It was a great location for us.
Definitely authentic New England!
