What a fantastic place to stay for a holiday! The location was great, the views incredible, and the platform into the sea was such a fantastic bonus. My husband and I stayed there with our two adult children, and it felt like there was enough room for all of us, especially when the weather was nice enough to use the outside seating. We felt really well looked after at check in and knew we could get in touch if there was a problem. We didn't have a car and found the location perfectly acceptable, even with the return walk up a hill after a night out. We would definitely recommend this accommodation, lovely place, well equipped kitchen and lovely people. Thank you :)

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly happy to hear you enjoyed the views, the styling, and the overall atmosphere of our home.
Our goal is to offer an authentic slice of Italian coastal living, just a short walk from the heart of Portovenere. We’re especially glad that you and your kids too appreciated the combination of comfort and location.
And yes..... we agree ...the stairs are part of the charm.
We hope to welcome you back soon
Our stay in Portovenere was simply fantastic! The house exceeded all our expectations – it's beautifully situated and superbly equipped. It was especially great that we had exclusive use of the jetty, which gave the whole place a very special feel. From the very beginning, we felt very welcome thanks to the warm welcome. The hosts are exceptionally hospitable and helpful. The house was spotlessly clean, and the amenities left nothing to be desired. We found the dishwasher and additional freezer particularly useful, which made our stay much easier and provided refreshing ice cubes. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this accommodation!

Thank you so much for your beautiful review! We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the house, its unique location, and the jetty, and that you felt warmly welcomed from the start. We especially appreciated not only how spotless you left the house, but also your thoughtful and eco-friendly gesture of leaving food that couldn’t travel. Small acts like this help reduce waste and are a wonderful example of mindful, sustainable travel. We’d be delighted to welcome you back anytime!
This is a beautiful spot with one especially cool feature: a private pier for swimming in the Mediterranean! The house is charming and the views are stunning. You can easily walk to Porto Venere, or to a public beach <10 min away. Very highly recommend this spot!

Such a nice stay at this beautiful apartment! Very private, clean, well stocked, large! Wonderful view and swimming area was so cool. I wish we could have stayed longer!!
We had a wonderfull time in this beautiful place. It’s a really nice and quiet place. We could walk to Portovenere, had our own jetty. It was nice to swim and jump in the Mediterranean with nobody around. We would really recommend this place.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It’s always a pleasure to host a family that loves Portovenere as much as I do. You are a five stars guest too so I look forward to welcoming you again in the future!
We loved our week in Porto Venere and this apartment. It was very private, whereas attractions, shops and restaurants, as well as hiking tours, were only a short walk away. The house was just like described on the website. Few others were in the house at the same time, and we were mostly by ourselves by the sea, and always with friendly and respectful people. The place by the sea is the most precious feature of this property.

Thanks a lot Stefanie Portovenere my favorite place, I fell in love for its colors more than thirty years ago, and every year when I reach the village is a new emotion. Has been a pleasure to share this view with you and your nice and happy family.
I loved everything about the place. The sleeping arrangements worked well for us. The view was so beautiful! Even though it was on a hill it was very close to the town and easy to get to by bus if you don’t want to walk up the hill. There’s a nice grocery store in Porto Venere and restaurants. We even rented a boat for 3 hours. It was definitely the highlight of our stay. I would love to spend a month at the house.

Great views but could use some updating
We loved the view and swimming in the sea off the little dock at the bottom of the steps. The living room is bright and airy, and the kitchen is adequate but lacks some essential cookware and appliances (some small pots with lids, a frying pan or two, a coffeemaker and a tea kettle -- not everyone drinks espresso). The layout is a little strange, with two single beds arranged foot-to-foot in the bedroom and a double bed in a loft above the living room. The beds were not made when we arrived, and the patio could use a little weeding. Also, there is only one, poorly functioning fan (it no longer rotates) in the entire apartment, so that those sleeping in one of the bedroom areas must remain fan-less (and mosquito-ridden as a result). I'd suggest the owner update the kitchen a little, buy some good fans (they're not that expensive), make sure the beds are made before guests arrive, have the place and outside area thoroughly cleaned (some areas were a little dirty) and provide more towels. We had only 4 towels for 4 people staying there four days. Otherwise, a charming little place in a beautiful spot.

Dear Christopher,
first of all thanks for your precious advices,so I proceeded to buy a new machine for American coffee, a kettle for tea, added some pots and kitchen gadgets plus some more towels for the bathroom. The lady who takes care of the cleaning is usually very accurate, but sometimes something can be miss ... if you had informed me I would have made immediate action to resolve everything. As you pointed out the house is very fresh and breezy for this I never considered to buy fans, but in the last few years the temperature sometime rises. Concerning your remark about the layout, I feel this navy style as a feature of my house, I have decorated all the sleeping areas like a boat cabin with a cosy marine atmosphere.
Location, location, location; well, it doesn't get any better than this! My (adult) daughter and I just spent a wonderful week in the Bouganville apartment, and we were truly sad to leave this beatiful spot on earth. The apartment is spacious and very well equiped, you'll find everything there from the little rubber dingy to binoculars and toiletpaper. Clean, brightly furnished and we found it very inviting. Free wifi a big plus, and Bibi, the owner, had made a big folder with heaps of useful information & tips!
And then there is the ocean. The incredible blue Mediterranean sea and Golfo dei Poeti right there in front of our noses. We never got tired of looking at the changing coulors of blue, from the silverish surface in early morning, to the deepening blue closer to the horizon and my favourite; the bright, azure - sometimes close to green - colour that during the day covered all of the Golfo dei Poeti. There must be 50 shades of blue in the Mediterranean sea! Fascinating!
It's easy to get around, a 20 minutes walk and you are in the senter of beautiful Portovenere, and this is a truly enjoyable walk passing beaches, marinas, bars, restaurants and the occational spot of shady pine trees. If you're not up to walking just jump on the free giro-bus that passes Bouagaville several times an our.
Portovenere is a charming little town with it's narrow streets, steep steps and not to forget the beautiful seafront. Walking up to the castle was a lovely experience in it self, but the view from the top really amazing! We went totally crazy with the cameras! My little tip: Move slowly when walking in the streets og Portovenere. Take your time, and take a good look around. Look at the front doors, at the windows, at the house walls. Look down when you're high up, look up when down. Don't miss out on the tiny, little piazzas, the smell of basil and bread, have a Limoncino and coffee, (espresso of course) smile to people and pet the cute, little black Boston Terrier outside the hairdresser.
From Portovenere you can take the boat to the islands, the 5 Terre or La Spezia. We took the boat to Riomaggiore, from there there we walked the fascinating Via dell'Amore to Manarolo, jumped on a train to Monterosso where we had lunch before catching a train to La Spezia and bus back to our paradise on the cliffs. No hazzle, no stress, everything runs nice smoothly.
Thanks,Bibi! Your lovely Bouganville home in Portovenere is a place you'll like to return to. Soon.
Has been so nice to read a so lovely comment that my nostalgia for Portovenere has grown, and grown.... living on the lake of Como (not a bad place where to stay) it happens that I forgot the flavour of the garden, the thousand shades of the landscape, the simple peace of my favorite nest. Thanks a lot Mien for sharing your emotions Bibi

Dear Andreas, I truly appreciate your words. It was a pleasure to host you, and I am delighted that you enjoyed both the atmosphere and the location. You will always be most welcome whenever you wish to return.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the apartment comfortable and well-equipped. In a particularly hot summer like this one, the shaded terraces are indeed a great advantage—I appreciated them myself during my short vacation last week. Thanks and regards

Why they chose this property
I was very young when I first saw Portovenere, but I have been in love with this magical place ever since. Having a little nest here was my very first dream, and the moment I saw the breathtaking sea view from this cozy apartment... it was love at first sight.
What makes this property unique
The house is conveniently close to the village, allowing easy access to its charm and amenities, yet it remains peacefully secluded from the hustle and bustle, ensuring a tranquil retreat. Its two spacious private terraces provide the perfect setting for different moments of the day: a delightful breakfast bathed in the morning sun, a restful afternoon in the cool, refreshing shade, or an intimate candlelit dinner under the soft glow of the moon and stars.
One of the most exceptional features of this property is its sea pier, offering direct access to the crystal-clear waters, where guests can swim, snorkel, or simply relax by the shore. Surrounding the house, a lush Mediterranean garden filled with the soothing scents of rosemary, holm oaks, and majestic cluster pines creates an atmosphere of pure serenity. This rare privilege, blending natural beauty and exclusive comfort, is something only a select few homes in this picturesque area can offer.
