Grand View Mountain Lodge's Story...

Once you’re here, you’ll understand why Suches is called, “The Valley Above the Clouds” — and why our beloved chalet is your mountain oasis.

With the goal of creating an airy, open feel and an eye for a simple and tasteful aesthetic we designed this gorgeous lodge to be our little hideaway, a home away from home… and as soon as you walk through the door that’s precisely how you will feel: at home.

Well appointed, comfortable, and inviting, Grand View is perfect for romantic getaways or small family- or friends’ trips to the mountains.

We love to cook and it shows: whether you’re scrambling a few eggs for a pre-hike breakfast or crafting an elaborate multicourse supper, you will love our fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy chef-grade cookware, such as an Emeril LaGasse air fryer, complete set of Henkel knives, brand new top-end pots and pans, a roaster, and a Cuisinart veggie steamer and rice cooker. We also just got new glass stemware for the wine lovers (I mean, can you imagine a plastic wine glass on that deck? Eeeww no) and our Ninja coffee maker is absolutely bad*ss. And if you’re one of those in-the-mountains-we-are-meant-to-cook-over-a-fire-the-way-our-ancestors-did people, don’t worry, we got you covered: there’s a sweet new gas BBQ grill outside on the veranda.

Savor your meals and good company in the open plan living/dining room, or enjoy an unforgettable al fresco experience on the veranda or sunken deck. When the stars come out grab your s’mores supplies and head down to our remodeled firepit at the woods’ edge.

Speaking of decks, this one is a beaut. We recommend having a moment to yourself there in the early morning, steaming cup in hand, as you take in the majesty of the landscape and the day’s beginning. In the evening, sitting around the fire table, sipping wine from a local vintner as the setting sun paints the sky flaming vermillions and plum purples, you’ll feel that very specific type of peace that you can only get when surrounded by loved ones in an awe-inspiring natural setting.

When you’re ready to explore (if, you’re ready to explore, that is — God knows we’ve spent countless days enjoying Grand View without ever venturing out), the quiet community of Suches is known for its breathtaking views and abundant outdoor activities, making it an ideal and central jumping-off point for your adventure. Hike the Appalachian Trail, paddle your way down the Toccoa River, eat your weight in barbecue, or spend the days carving up the pristine roads on your motorcycle (Rider Magazine ranked this region #6 on its Top 35 Bucket-list Rides)... and fall in love with North Georgia.

Whenever you’re ready for an unforgettable experience in the mountains, Grand View and Suches are waiting for you.

Pro Tips & Local Wisdom

● Adventure through the Chattahoochee National Forest
● Kayak and fish at nearby Coopers Creek and Toccoa River
● Pick up the Appalachian Trail at Woody Gap, the unofficial gateway to the Appalachian Mountains
● Explore nearby towns of Dahlonega and Blairsville

The Small Print

● The Sounds of Silence: please limit outdoor use of speakers and other amplified sound equipment to 8:00 am through 10:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday; and 8:00 am through 11:00 pm, Friday and Saturday
● You love your doggo, and we’d love to host your furry friend. We charge a $75 cleaning fee per dog, per day. Cats make us sneeze; please leave them with grandma
● We happily prepare a starter kit for your arrival (5 trash bags under kitchen sink, 1 roll of paper towels per kitchen, 3 rolls of t.p. per bathroom, small bars of body soap) — please anticipate any needs beyond that, and stock up in town or bring with
● Important message for our two-wheelin’ guests. We have one of the only (possibly the only) paved property roads in the region. That said, because of the grade and possible ground cover in wetter/colder months, bigger motos may not make it up to our driveway (looking in your direction, Gold Wings, Fat Boys, and GS’s)
● Suds and beans can be very personal choices. Please bring your own laundry detergent and coffee
● You’ll find an ample supply of dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap
● Need us? We got you, 7 days a week, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, just give us a buzz and we’ll be there in a jiff to help you with any unforeseen detail

Thank you for choosing SVR. Born and bred here in Georgia, we are committed to ensuring our clients feel the warmth of our southern hospitality, and have unforgettable stays in beautiful homes, in what we believe is one of the prettiest landscapes the country has to offer. With us you’re not just booking a rental property. With more than 5,000 stays and 2,300 glowing reviews… our guests agree.

We are excited to share our love for North Georgia. In each of our cabins you’ll find an “Experience the Mountains” manual full of suggestions about local attractions such as hikes and sightseeing, as well as our favorite restaurants in town.

Want to connect with us about anything from the layout of the property to our opinion on which country store has the best pie? Give us a shout. One of our local customer experience guides will be happy to chat with you, answer any questions, and help you book your next dream mountain vacation.

Lastly… we can’t wait to meet you! (yes, we will be there in person to greet you on your check-in date).

**We believe the perfect number of occupants is four. However, there are two single beds in the loft to accommodate children (and other freeloading guests, like your friend, Brian, who’s like, going through a thing right now?)

Home Away from Home

Elaine and the Suches Vacation Rentals team went above and beyond with this lovely cabin in the woods. First of all, the view is STUNNING. But more importantly, from check in until departure we felt totally taken care of! The cabin is clean and fully stocked (I’m talking things you NEVER get in a vacation rental- Ziploc bags? Firestart? Amazing!). We truly felt so cozy and comfortable. Thank you Elaine for sharing your lovely home with us, we will be back!
