We stayed at this property with 6 people - my family (2 adults, 10 and 12 yo) and my parents. It was perfect for a quick stay in Seward! The property is well maintained and in a nice location. The owner is extremely responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay at The Blue Whale Cottage! The host was very attentive and quick to respond to any communications I sent to her. The cottage was exceptionally clean with a beautiful view of the Bay. Downtown and the small boat harbor were both within walking distance.
“We absolutely loved our stay at the Blue Whale Cottage over the Fourth of July. Christine was wonderful to work with — so kind and attentive, and she made the entire process seamless. This was our eighth year coming for Mt. Marathon, and this cottage has truly been the best place we’ve stayed yet. It was cozy, beautifully maintained, and so close to the mountain. We wish it wasn’t already booked for next year!
This is one of the best properties we have ever stayed at! The cottage was beautifully appointed, meticulously clean, and had very comfortable furnishings including good quality beds and bedding, as well as a comfy couch for relaxing after enjoying time outdoors in Seward. We loved the whale-themed decor throughout the cottage. The location is perfect for accessing downtown Seward, where we enjoyed the excellent restaurants, cafes, book store, and aquarium. We were lucky to see the Northern Lights during our stay, with beautiful views over the bay and mountains, right outside our door. Christine was a pleasure to communicate with - very responsive and caring. We absolutely recommend this property and hope to return again some day soon!
The Blue Whale was awesome! I was a little concerned that it would feel cramped for my family of 5, but we were pleasantly surprised - the photos do not do it justice. The high ceilings and excellent layout suited us perfectly. There were so many nice touches all around, and the decor is lovely. Fantastic view of the mountains and bay out the back sliding door. Walkable to the business district. I strongly recommend bringing eye masks if you are visiting in summer bc that Alaska summer sun is with you 20+ hours a day, and not all of the windows have dark shades. Other than that everything was A+
Beautiful, well appointed and clean home with everything we needed for a great stay. Great views, walking distance to great restaurants (we enjoyed the Cookery). Also walkable or a short drive to the marina. My husband went for a run up Mt Marathon right up the street in the evening, taking advantage of the long days. My one suggestion would be to have black out curtains for those who are sensitive to light. My teen boys loved the loft upstairs but had a hard time falling asleep due to the brightness. We got them eye shades and that did the trick. The hosts were very responsive, check in and out were easy. We also loved the extra long bathtub- (we are tall) and the shower heat and pressure were spa-like. Loved our stay.
