I'm glad we followed the advice of another reviewer to arrive during daylight so we could settle in and figure out the gas lights. Beautiful and peaceful. The fridge is very cold and the hot water very hot. Remember to bring power banks.
If you want an awesome spot to get away and decompress this is the spot. But understand it is off the grid. Little water and no flushing of toilet paper. Extremely dark at night. Think ahead about how and what needs electricity as there is none at all. The river is perfect, the pond looks cool. It is not ADA accessible and if you need a cpap plan ahead.
Cannot say enough great things about this place and Jeff was such a gracious host. Everything was super clean, comfortable, and thoughtful. The cabin is beautiful and the setting is truly magical and wildly exceeded my expectations for staying there. Although a little far out, it was still a central spot to explore ONP, the coast, and Port Angeles.
My wife and I stayed here with our 2 dogs for a 4 night stay as a long weekend. The pictures don’t do this property justice. It is an absolutely magical piece of land. Easy to explore the Olympic Peninsula, but we preferred just roaming around the land. It was so nice to unplug and be out of contact with the outside world. We’re already planning our next trip back. Thank you Jeff for sharing this amazing place with us
Nestled among a forest of alders and spruce, this riverside cabin is the perfect base camp for exploring the Olympic National Forest.
Jeff, our host, met us at check in for a brief tour of some of the 34 acres, from multiple book-reading spots along the river to trails leading to hidden treasures. Then he left us to ourselves, checking in occasionally by text to make sure all was well. And it was!
We experienced so many amazing things as we explored the Hoh Rainforest, Second Beach, Hurricane Ridge, Shi Shi Beach (our personal favorite), Cape Flattering and a successful whale watching tour.
Truth be told, we spent an entire day exploring the property. We regularly ran into a family of black-tailed deer, hiked to massive grandaddy spruce tree and marveled at the willow a few steps from the front porch sprouting new growth after being gnawed down by beavers.
We drank in the wildflowers, were serenaded by a frog chorus each night as we enjoyed cocktails by the fire pit, we awoke to birdsong that came with the first hints of sunrise, and two mornings in a row we were visited by hummingbirds.
This gas-powered cabin may be off the grid, but with its refrigerator, stove and lighting, you won’t miss it. If you truly want to unplug and unwind - and we know you do - Lower Twin Cabin is the spot!!
