About this property
1910 FAMILY REUNION HOME IN THE HEART OF DELAND’S HISTORIC DISTRICT
This charming 1910 Family Reunion Home in the heart of DeLand’s Historic District is just adjacent to Stetson University and a block from downtown. It is also a block from St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and famous preparatory school of excellence, and just a block from Whit’s Famous Custard.
Bright and sunny, this historic four-square home has three covered porches, a fenced deck, spacious foyer, living room, dining room, a den, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and pantry/baking area, and laundry room. The gas range heats right up for gourmet cooking.
The reunion house has heart pine floors and woodwork. The main floor is covered with high, double-hung windows and 9-foot ceilings. The glass front door is flanked by beautiful ornate windows. Period antiques appear throughout the house including an early 20th c. piano and built-in china cabinets.
The downstairs bath contains a new, modern walk-in shower. Upstairs holds a beautiful cast iron tub with rain shower above.
Set on half- acre double lot right downtown, the reunion house has plenty of room for parking and to wander among the oak trees and young, long-leaf pines and to take beautiful walks or bide rides in historic old DeLand.
There’s always something happening downtown whether it’s the many events and parades, or among the pubs and restaurants. There are regular performances for the public from one of the finest music schools in Florida or the restored Athens Theater, each only a block away.
Sands Theatre Center and African American Museum of Arts are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at David Disney Tennis Center and Victoria Hills Golf Club. Gillespie Museum and Bill Dreggor's Playground are also worth visiting. Take an opportunity to explore the area for water adventures. See Blue Springs, DeLeon Springs or enjoy wildlife walks at nearby Lake Woodruff. Head directly east to swim then dine in historic New Smyrna Beach! Take a day trip to historic St. Augustine!

About the host
Hosted by Frank and Gina Walker

Frank and Gina Walker live in DeLand, FL. We met at Stetson University, had to move away for work for twenty years but returned to this beautiful area about fifteen years ago. We have four grown children and four grandchildren!
We clean our rental home ourselves to ensure that every family enjoys their stay as much as we have enjoyed it with our own family!

Why they chose this property
This historic home is the best of Old DeLand! The two lots on which the home is built are only a block from downtown but offer enough space for numerous trees and a campfire! The home has wide porches for dining inside or out and lots of private spaces so the family can spread out. We appreciate being able to have the option to host large family gatherings or just walk with the gang downtown to access Persimmon Hallow Brewery, Whit's Frozen Custard, Tony's Candy Store, The Athens Theater, Tony's Pizza among the the numbers of dining choices!
What makes this property unique
This home has been loved and updated with all new plumbing, electricity and heating/air. Twenty-seven old-glass windows make it a bright and happy spot! While it retains its charm, it is sturdy and clean. The gas heater is very quiet in the winter months, and the home stays cool in the summer months.
