The house has an interesting history, made of metal and specifically for veterans. It was built in the early 50s and comes complete with some of the era’s decor.
This was a fantastic property for anyone interested in Lustron homes. It is very well renovated and is decorated in period decor. It was a true highlight of our bike trip on the OTET trail. The home is well laid out and offers a washer and dryer.
We had a comfortable stay (the a/c was appreciated during some hot August days) and loved being in this unique property.
Beautiful flowers planted outside and nice to have an off-street parking space.
Easy walk to downtown Mt Vernon.
We visited our daughter, a history student at nearby Kenyon College, and this couldn't have been a more wonderful experience.

This is such an amazing house. All the antique stuff. Ive never seen a house like this very cool. And for as old as it is , it’s as fresh and clean as a brand new house. The host was one of the mist gracious and accommodating hosts ive had the pleasure of dealing with !!
This is a fun stay. The Lustron House is a blast from the past. It wasn't the cleanest but I think that is mainly just because it is 70 years old. Nicely located and appointed with all the vintage touches. Wifi isn't very good.

I would like to know exactly what you found not clean so that we can address the problem. The housekeeper is concerned.
The house was like stepping back into the 1950’s - rotary phone, box tv, etc We loved it as we grew up in the 50’s. The house was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. We weren’t there that much as we were attending the reunion weekend at nearby Kenyon College but it was convenient and lovely.
We loved staying here and learning all about the history of these homes that were designed & built in the 1950's. It was perfect for tea and card games and family bonding. Note that there's no TV, which we actually appreciated! (There is Internet access, however!)

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you next year.
I loved the house. It is larger inside than it appears. I liked that it was restored so people can see the past. I am so happy that I found a comfortable place that allowed me to have my pups with me. I plan on coming back at least 2 times a year. THANK YOU!
This was a dog friendly rental—and over-priced for that reason ?? Part of the fee was listed as a donation which we appreciated. The house is easy walking to stores and restaurants/bars. The interior is too cluttered for us and the bed felt like it was from 1950 !!Needs to be replaced along with the bedding—cotton please

We are sorry that you were not totally satisfied but as a house that sleeps 5 plus a sofa no one has ever said it is overpriced. As for the bed, it was purchased new 2 years ago. I know that some people like soft, medium or hard mattresses and one mattress can not be all three. Personal when I travel I take along a foam square to customize my experience if necessary and frequently even in trendy hotels l have found it necessary to use it. Phyllis
