Nichols Lake Sunset Cottage

Beautiful lakefront cottage atop a small bluff on 160 acre all-sports Nichols Lake that gets up to 60' deep, w/ incredible sunset views! This renovated 3 bedroom, 2 full bath cottage w/ AC has a full kitchen, laundry, open living room and dining area, family room in lower walk-out, huge deck overlooking the lake, firepit, dock for your boat, and sleeps 9 in beds. The lake is fantastic for fishing, swimming, and boating and is surrounded by the Manistee National Forest. It's campfires and lounging on lake time!

The Sunset Cottage offers incredible views, and good fishing (Bluegill, Crappie, Bass, Pike), swimming, boating & kayaking/canoeing with 2 public boat launches just around the corner, if you bring a boat (plenty of space at the dock to tie up shallow draft boats, or beach your boat). We do have a 22' Pontoon available for rental (please ask for details), and the 2 kayaks are included in the accommodations. The cottage provides all the comforts of home, with a full kitchen including coffee station with coffee, laundry, bedrooms with linens, bathrooms with towels, bathing supplies and toilet paper. The large lakeside deck includes table with umbrella and chairs, and a gas grill. There are 30 flowing steps down to the beach/dock. Water activities in the summer, snowmobiling in the winter--This is a perfect getaway any time of year!

Guests will have full access to the house, property, lake frontage & dock, including 2 kayaks which are included in the rental price. Pontoon boat available for rent for additional cost.

Please be aware that this is not a sandy beach. The beach over at the NW launch is currently more suitable for playing in the sand, and there is also a nice beach area accessible by boat to the SW (visible from the deck) where you will often see boats beached, and people hanging out.

We do have a pontoon boat that is available for rent. Please let us know if you are interested at least a week prior to your arrival day. We will need to coordinate your check-in so we can do a boat check-out, collect a security deposit, payment, and sign a rental agreement.

NOTE: ALL weeks during June, July and August, are 7-day minimum rentals, and run from Sunday to Sunday ONLY.

Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Nichols Lake is "No Wake" before 11:00 AM, and after 7:00 PM. Otherwise it's "All Sports".
Quiet hrs. outside before 8:00 AM, and after 10:00 PM. This is a quiet neighborhood, and the neighbors are great/helpful people. Please respect them.
Regular toilet paper only to be flushed down the toilets, nothing else. No grease down the kitchen sink, please put in trash.

Very spacious, nice house. We rented the boat which made the lake very enjoyable. Great views. One of the nicer houses we have stayed at. We loved how quiet and remote it is. Be sure to grab groceries before you get there as everything is about 20-40 min away. Enjoyed out stay very much

This was our second year at this property. Clean, comfortable and has everything we need. The water and sunset was beautiful. Saw an eagle & a snapping turtle. Location is great and the host communication was excellent.

This cottage on Nichols Lake was a beautiful stay for our family! It was very clean, organized, and had many things that fit our needs: from kayaks to kitchen essentials, it was perfect! I will say if you have kids you’re bringing along, the lake isn’t really for swimming as it is more for boats and kayaks, but with a 3 minute drive, you can get to a swimmable part of Nichols Lake on the Northwest side. Our favorite part was the back porch as it provided space for our family to eat meals outside, enjoy the weather, and get beautiful views from the sunset each night.

A SLICE OF HEAVEN

The cottage was really nice, well taken care of and beautifully decorated. The deck was perfect for coffee in the morning and watching the sunset at night. Everyone loved the Kayaks. We had a really great time.

My family loved our stay, we did not have any problems finding the house or checking in. Brad and his wife are extremely helpful! The views from the balcony and the master bedroom are amazing! I had a party of 5 which included 2 teenage boys, we wanted a change from Florida but still somewhere to enjoy water. With the rental of the pontoon boat we received both. There was a fair that weekend which helped explore outside of the cottage. The wifi worked perfectly in the evening for a movie, (The great Outdoors) I am giving this a 10/10

Nichols lake splendor

We had a wonderful week in Bitely! Quick and easy self check-in, well-stocked kitchen, beautiful home, and gorgeous sunsets. The lake level was down which made some things tricky, but we were able to work around it and do all of the things (kayaking, fishing, boating, tubing, etc).

Natural beauty

The forest and lake setting were wonderful away from it all...while the house still provided all the clean and comfortable amenities of being home. Sunsets and morning fog, fall volors were especially great!

Perfect sunsets

Clean, spacious property with all the amenities.Perfect space for our girls weekend. It was a cool May weekend but we still spent most of our time on the deck with an amazing view of the lake. The bedrooms were perfect for us and quiet for those early to bed. We took a kayak ride across the lake. Looking forward to returning when the beach is upgraded.

OMG! So Good!!

Spent a week at Nichols Lake cottage. There were 6 of us, all adults (two sets of parents and two 20something male cousins), and it was a perfect space!! The cottage looks like the pictures, very neat and clean. The kitchen is well stocked. The best part is the deck overlooking the lake. And Brad is super responsive!!

Gorgeous Sunsets

House was perfect for our family of 7. Had all the necessary amenities. Short drive in town to a small store that had items we needed. The Sunsets were amazing to watch from the deck. Quiet lake. We took the pontoon boat and enjoyed the ride around the lake. We saw turtles and bald eagles. We fished and caught bass and pike. Communication with owner was always quick. Beautiful home on a peaceful lake. We had an amazing vacation. Thank you.

The location, the amenities, it was all perfect. I rented this lakeside house for a little birthday getaway for my girlfriend and couldn’t be happier! Brad was flexible, generous, and a great communicator. We saw the loons on the lake! This little sanctuary in the woods is a special place. Absolutely would like to rent again.
