Leave everyday life behind - visit Graylag to relax in a comfortable rustic environment with family and friends. Our 6 family-style cottages share the lakefront so you can enjoy swimming, fishing, sailing and boating, or explore the miles of trails within our 300-acre woodland preserve. Spend evenings cooking over the fire and roasting marshmallows while listening to the calls of owls and loons.
Graylag is perfect for family reunions and group retreats -- rent one cabin or the entire property. However, we are not a good choice for bachelor parties due to the quiet, family atmosphere.
Birches Family Lodge is built for families. There is one bedroom with a king sized bed, another with a queen, and a 3rd bedroom with 4 beds (1 full and 2 twins- it's great for kids). There is a large open kitchen and dining area, 2 1/2 baths, a living room and a large screened porch with another dining table. There is a small front porch, a charcoal grill and a unique fort 20 feet from the front door that serves as a play house. The fully equipped kitchen includes a coffee maker, blender, toaster and microwave. Linens, bath towels, shampoo and a large selection of puzzles, games and books are also provided. Birches Family Lodge is about 300 meters from the waterfront.

Awesome getaway for a casual stay in
I brought a group of friends here for a casual stay in the cabin, utilizing the fire pits, kayaks and boats, sharing some drinks and music for the weekend. It was absolutely perfect. The owners are incredibly friendly, too. Can't recommend it high enough.
Our family ended a busy vacation week visiting colleges with two nights at this cabin in the Graylag preserve. It could not have been more peaceful and perfect for our family of 6. We went on a few nature walks, kayaked/canoed, swam in the lake, and worked on a puzzle together - no wifi & no tv. We all wish we had been able to stay longer & hope to return soon. Thank you for a wonderful finish to our family’s summer vacation!
If you want to unplug (no TV and minimal service - wifi in the office is available) and spend time with family and friends, this is the place. We stayed in Birches and couldn't have been happier. Comfortable, clean beds and everything you need to cook for a group. We loved sitting on the screened in porch and playing cards at night. Having a charcoal grill meant slowing down and taking our time preparing meals together. The .25 mile walk to the waterfront was a joy and swimming was perfect the hot weekend we were there. Anne and Nik were very responsive and so pleasant, we couldn't have asked for a better spot for our little group. We will most certainly stay here again while in the area!
the greatest house that I have ever vacationed in with a lot of characters.
the greatest house that I have ever vacationed in with a lot of characters inside and outside the house. Easy access to the lake, quite, semi-private place. LUV IT!
