We were conveniently located just down the street from the event we were attending, as well as just a minute or so from the central part of the charming, historical town of Edenton, NC. The Hardison House is a vintage 1930s home that has kept its 1930s flavor while being refreshed & renewed with such a pretty decor and all the amenities you could need or want. Our king size bed & pillows were super comfortable (& it’s hard for me to find a comfortable pillow!) We met both Donna & Jerry who are extremely friendly - without being intrusive! They were so accommodating and generous and found several ways to make us feel welcome. We hope to come back in the future.
The property was far enough away from the town but close enough for us to go back and forth easily. The only reason a 4 for location is it was close to the road and we could hear cars driving by at night-still over all quiet because it wasn’t a terribly busy road at night.
We chose this property for its proximity between our daughter in Southern VA and my mother in Eastern NC (Wilson area). The house is clean and well appointed. We cooked most meals there and had everything we needed and gave the coffee pot a serious run for the money. Everything was as described. A few short minutes to the historic downtown area and a similar run to the grocery store. It was a week of rest and books and games and family. Perfect holiday get away.
This was a great VRBO experience. It all started with Donna who was very responsive and accommodating. She personalized our arrival as well. Very clean and nicely decorated home. Very comfortable and convenient to town but far enough out to be quiet. Would stay here again if in the area.
I stayed at The Hardison House for a month while waiting to move into a home I purchased in the area. My host Donna was very helpful in accommodating several date changes before my arrival. The cottage itself was spotless and contained everything I needed for my stay. It is located within a short 5 minute drive of downtown Edenton and its attractions, as well as the grocery store and restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.
Very nice and peaceful. I loved the attention to detail with the decor and the photos made it fill very home like. Donna made sure that she checked in routinely to see if everything was going ok. Would stay here again.
Such a charming and cozy place with adorable decor and details - we were warmly welcomed with a lovely note and snack package. Loved the views from the window and the town of Edenton. Host was very accessible and responsive. Just important to note that it’s a minimum of an hour and a half - two hour drive each way to Outer Banks (not “about an hour” as advertised). Still had a wonderful time.
This is a very nice property. It is very clean and very comfortable. It is close to town, but very quiet. The WIFI was not working when I was there, but the property manager indicated she would work on getting this fixed. I would have given it all 5 stars, but the WIFI was an issue.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary weekend in this home. It was very convenient to the boat ramps where we enjoyed our time out on the water fishing. The home is decorated beautifully and it's extremely clean.
Felt like we knew Donna the Property Manager for years
It was a great stay with Donna having everything perfect at the house when we arrived. A message on the chalkboard to greet us along with some warm gifts. Donna met us at the property and gave a walk around showing us everything and also giving us some history about the property. Overall it was a seamless transaction with no headaches. Thank You Donna see you again soon.

I stayed here for 3 weeks while I was working in the area and had a wonderful stay. Donna is very helpful and goes above and beyond to make your stay as great as possible. The house is also just as beautiful as the pictures online. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay and highly recommend this house!

Perfect! Great location, well stocked and well decorated
My husband and I loved staying here for 3 months as we worked as travel physical therapists in the area. Donna was absolutely amazing to work with, so welcoming and quick to answer any questions we had. The house is adorable and such great history. It had everything we needed and then some! We frequently move for our job and this is by far the best housing we've had.

Cozy cottage
We spent three nights in this charming home for the Edenton Candlelight Homes Tour. My no.1 priority in rental property is cleanliness and The Hardison House is pristine! I was perfectly comfortable walking in my sock-feet on the beautiful hardwood floors. Comfy bed, fluffy towels, and a well stocked kitchen made for a delightful stay. The Christmas tree and window candles were a nice touch! Donna met us and gave us a tour of the home and some Edenton tips. We are low maintenance travelers so it was not necessary for us to contact her but knowing that we could and that she would promptly reply was reassuring. Don't hesitate to book The Hardison House!

Cozy Comfort
Two friends, my husband and I were in town for Edenton's Candlelight Tour. Donna maintained communication prior to our arrival and met us at the property. The pictures don't do it justice! This is is a quaint cottage, easily accommodating four, at the most, six! Totally remodeled. We enjoyed an evening relaxing in the 'parlor', watching TV and playing games. As it was early December, we so appreciated the 'pencil' tree and candles in the Windows! Thank you, Donna, for a memorable experience!

Comfortable, clean, great location.
This property was perfect for our visit with family in Ahoskie. My husband and I from Niagara Falls, my 90 year old mother-in-law from Ahoskie and sister-in-law from Colorado were very comfortable spending a week at the Hardison House. Compared to finding 3 rooms at a Bed and Breakfast or hotel rooms this house was much more reasonable cost wise. And we were able to have breakfast and other meals together. We packed sandwiches for our day excursions, had leftovers and nephew prepared a crock pot dessert. We were able to get laundry done for trips home. Had some mean Skipbo card games and a monopoly game until 1:30 am. Different family visited and were able to share the sights of Edenton. We ate at Mexican restaurant, had Chinese take out, great meal at Waterman's Grill. Did the trolley tour of Edenton. We spent a day on Outer Banks visiting Wright Brother's Memorial and Cape Hatteras Light house where my husband's family the Quigley's were lighthouse keepers and a romp on the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the Federal Fish Hatchery. The park ranger gave us a tour and we saw the bass almost ready to be released. Lots of herons there and the eagles were awesome. The boardwalk over to Pembroke
Creek had interesting sites and peaceful. My 90 year old mother in law made the walk just fine. It is also a great place for a morning run. They open the gates at 7:00am.
Food Lion was convenient. We stocked up on groceries and bought shrimp and pies to take to Ahoskie for Thanksgiving with family. We also met family for dinner at Deadwood. Fried everything. Sort of a mini amusement park.
Loved the sunporch. Had my morning coffee there. House is in a very private setting. Rural but just outside town. Traffic on main road but with windows closed didn't disturb. Great to have place to be outside. Possibly needs some chairs for sitting outside. Only other suggestion would be more hooks in bathroom or bedrooms to hang towels. We all loved Hardison House! Would certainly recommend the house.

Prettist Little House
We had three great nights at the Hardison House. The personalized greeting from Donna was way above anything a guest could expect. The house is so warm and inviting. Edenton is listed as the "Prettist Town in North Carolina". The Hardison House is adorable and fits perfectly into that motto.

This Was The South's Prettiest Little House!
What a wonderful night we spent at the Hardison House! Donna went above and beyond anything we ever expected! From pretrip guidance with directions, to very quick responses to emails & text messages, a personal meeting upon our arrival, goodie bags, personalized chalkboard welcoming our family, a tour of the home and pristine accommodations! The house was like something out of Country Living magazine - not one detail was overlooked in this adorable house! If you are traveling through or want to spend a week in a great place - don't pass up the Hardison House! Many, many thanks!
