This home is well-appointed with just about everything you would need for your stay. Great location; quiet, wildlife viewing, and activities for everyone.
The house was the perfect size for our group of 9! We appreciated that there were so many areas in the house to hang out in, and the kitchen was well stocked.
Spacious, comfortable house near lake, pools, and more
We had a wonderful few days at Masthope and enjoyed the beautiful lake, pool with diving board and water slides, and basketball court. The house was clean and comfortable, with plenty of room. We would definitely stay there again.
Our stay was wonderful, peaceful and just what we needed. The chalet was just as described, decorated very nicely and had all the items needed to make us feel at home. Contact with the owner was very easy. We would rent again.
We had a really nice time at this house. The place itself looks much better than the pictures. There were few items that were broken in the house, just take a note of it and let the owner know, he was very easy to talk to. But the house is very cozy and cute!
The one thing I did not like was that you can’t set the air conditioning below 76. It was oppressive at night - stuffy and humid. If you try to turn the AC down lower, it turns the AC OFF. I reached out to the owner the next day and asked him to lower the temperature, which he do so I appreciated that. The house itself is nice but could use some updating. Floor boards are very creeky. The bathrooms are nice and the hot water was good.
My family had a wonderful time staying in this cabin in the woods for a summer weekend! The cabin/chalet decor is great for relaxing on the deck or around the fire pit amidst the trees on Masthope mountain. There were 7 of us, but could easily sleep 10 people across the three bedrooms plus the loft. The loft with its foosball table, large couch, and 2nd TV was a great hangout spot for the kids. Enjoyed by the whole family ranging from elementary school kids to teenagers to a grandparent. Well-stocked with linens, towels, pots, pans, cooking supplies, and board games. Kurt communicated well with us before and during the stay, and was helpful with all our questions. Diverse range of community activities (the amenity passes do cost extra - $8 per person per day), including two pools with waterslides, a small mini-golf area, and a mountain lake with a beach, BBQ area, kayaks, and paddleboats. Didn't even get to see the fitness center or game room, but these are also included with the amenity pass, and all amenities are within a 10 to 15 minute drive of the chalet. The whole family wished we could have stayed longer because we had such a great time at the cabin!
Excellent, Clean House and Amenity Filled Community
Our weekend was excellent, everything was as advertised and better. Kurt the owner was responsive to any questions and the house was spotless when we arrived just as promised. If looking for a quick getaway this house and community has it all, look no further. We are already planning our next trip back for the winter months!
Second time staying at this property and it does not dissapoint. If you are looking for something a little rustic with the comforts of home then this is the place.
Note: If you are going to use the fire pit all day and night like we did, bring a small chain saw and ax. After a couple of hours of work we had a nice pile to last two days and two nights. If you are burning on a casual basis, the store at the top of the hill sells bundles but they burn quick. For a good night of burning you would need at least 4 to 5 bundles from the store. There are people in the area that sell wood roadside but you have to go looking for them.
So happy that I booked this for myself and 3 girlfriends who had not been together for 3 years due to the pandemic. Such a beautiful area and the house overall met our needs. We would suggest more task lighting (lamps) etc. but also know that's always tough with a rental property. Really wished we could have stayed longer. Kurt was an excellent host and got back to me quickly with any questions.

The kitchen was very equipped, beds comfy and the game room area was very thoughtful. Overall the community is very well kept, and with the map is very easy to find activities to do. Safe place, everyone was very friendly although we only saw 1 group of black and Latinos. So diversity is not that big. Just FYI

We had a great stay. The house is just as pictured - clean, comfortable and spacious. The house was well stocked with amenities. The game room was a big hit for the kids. The proximity to Big Bear was great. We would rent again!
We looked for 2+ years to find the 'right' country home. This place had the curb appeal that made us feel that we were 'in the country' and away from it all at the first look. The log-sided chalet has a real country look inside and out, without sacrificing on modern amenities. The home has two levels each with their own full bathrooms, which allows the adults to enjoy themselves while the kids are safe and happy upstairs in their own world. It is located on a flat lot on a quite cul-de-sac, so it is easily accessible for all, safe for playing children and quiet for all.
