About this property

Hoh Chalet A cozy cabin on the Olympic Peninsula

The Hoh Chalet is a cozy cabin located on the Olympic Peninsula in the Hoh River Basin. It is heated with a woodstove and has spiral stairs to get up to both bedrooms. Pictures of stairs are in additional photos in this listing.

The space
The Chalet is a small cabin, just 400 sq ft per floor. It is an independant home and is powered by solar energy. The inside is DIY finished with repurposed materials. Only the appliances are new.
This two-story cabin has 2 bedrooms upstairs with a double bed in each, no doors, and a desk in the hall. The entry level has a kitchenette, bathroom, dining area and common area with a hide-a-bed in the sitting room. It is heated with a woodstove; firewood, cable TV, and Wi-Fi are provided.

Guest access
There is plenty of parking, with a carport for smaller vehicles. You are welcome to walk down the road, and tour our property. We have a berry farm and U-Pick berries starting in late June as well as a grocery garden, and a path through our wooded area. A large communal fire pit is located behind our retail shack where Hoh Made Jam, Native Hoh River Smoked Salmon, and local arts and crafts are available.
Other things to note
Access to the upper floor is via a spiral staircase. If you have small children or do not do stairs easily, this may not be for you.
Pets are allowed, but they may not be left unattended.

Diane was awesome and super nice, she was very informational about all the areas we wanted to visit

This was a home away from home, the wood heat was the best!!! I loved the live edge counters and cozy feel of the place, and we loved the raw honey and jams that were accessible to us as well, we will definitely be returning this fall for berry picking

So cute!

This gem is adorable! It was the perfect distance from everything we wanted to see and do. Diane was so gracious, her dogs welcomed us with enthusiastic barks and the frogs sang us to sleep each night.

Quiet and calm little house

Stay at the Hoh Chalet was lovely. The space was very clean and when we needed something for dishes, Diane provided it quickly. The stairs going upstairs are very narrow and the hand rails were rickety and wobbly. The wood stove warmed pretty well but we literally had to stay on it nearly non stop to keep the house warm. We woke up freezing both days as it was in the 30s outside and smowing. I would stay here again in the summer for sure The wood stive worked

Rustic, cozy yet self-sustaining!

I love how quirky it is, nestled in all the beauty that is the Hoh. It's clean, thoughtfully put together (has conveniences for dogs), cozy and just cool. If folk art is a house, this is it. Host is also very kind. Hoping to stay there again soon!

Perfect location to Ruby Beach

The place worked out well for me and my dogs. But it is a bit spartan. The weather was cold and the only heat is from the fireplace. Difficult to keep the room warm but enjoyed the experience. Host very kind

Cozy Cabin

We had a wonderful stay. The place is so unique as mentioned in the description is a DIY. The wood fireplace kept us warm despite the freezing outdoor temperatures. The house was well stocked and the location is great! Diane was a welcoming host and had a fire going for us when we arrived. We would love to stay again.

Cozy and quirky

Had a wonderful stay. Low water pressure is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars, and the owner mentioned she is working on getting that resolved. Bedrooms are actually a loft with an attached room (no doors). We didn't realize that from the listing, so just figured I'd mention it.

Hoh River Chalet

Despite high wind warnings and heavy rain for the coast during our stay, the cabin stayed warm, dry, and comfortable. The spiral staircase up to the second floor was a little steep for us but the fold out bed on the first floor was great.

Magical getaway

This is the perfect cozy cabin getaway. Diane has built a beautiful handcrafted chalet right in the heart of the Hoh, less than 10min from scenic Ruby Beach. We loved the wood stove and the mossy trails on the property. It was perfect for a year-end retreat. Our doggo was having the time of his life too, playing with the thoughtful pet toys available. Definitely check out the shop - we picked up some tasty local jam. Thanks Diane!!

Hoh Chalet

Exactly what we expected from a cabin. We loved the unique space and the story behind it. Great location to explore the area. Diane had a fire going for us when we got there, gave us some tips on getting another started, and had a ton of info on local.tribes and things to do nearby.
