About this property

Hoh Chalet A cozy cabin on the Olympic Peninsula

The Hoh Chalet is a cozy cabin located on the Olympic Peninsula in the Hoh River Basin. It is heated with a woodstove and has spiral stairs to get up to both bedrooms. Pictures of stairs are in additional photos in this listing.

The space
The Chalet is a small cabin, just 400 sq ft per floor. It is an independant home and is powered by solar energy. The inside is DIY finished with repurposed materials. Only the appliances are new.
This two-story cabin has 2 bedrooms upstairs with a double bed in each, no doors, and a desk in the hall. The entry level has a kitchenette, bathroom, dining area and common area with a hide-a-bed in the sitting room. It is heated with a woodstove; firewood, cable TV, and Wi-Fi are provided.

Guest access
There is plenty of parking, with a carport for smaller vehicles. You are welcome to walk down the road, and tour our property. We have a berry farm and U-Pick berries starting in late June as well as a grocery garden, and a path through our wooded area. A large communal fire pit is located behind our retail shack where Hoh Made Jam, Native Hoh River Smoked Salmon, and local arts and crafts are available.
Other things to note
Access to the upper floor is via a spiral staircase. If you have small children or do not do stairs easily, this may not be for you.
Pets are allowed, but they may not be left unattended.

Very nice place. Convenient for Olympic Peninsula exploration. Just a couple of miles from Ruby Beach and very close to the Hoh rainforest inside Olympic National Park. Downstairs is kitchen & living room, both bedrooms upstairs.

This Chalet is probably the most eclectic, creative, and unique place I've ever stayed in. Every corner held surprises. My 2 friends and I enjoyed the homey feeling, the farm-like grounds, and the owner, Diane and her friend, Hoh elder Vivian. One word of warning, the spiral staircase up to the 2 bedrooms is not for the faint of heart. It is accessible with all the handrails that are on both sides, but must be used with care. The location is good for a west Peninsula stay, between Kalaloch and the entrance to the Hoh Rain Forest. We enjoyed our stay at the Chalet.

Host! Was very communicative, and the cabin was very clean and orderly. Great ambiance if I were to visit the area again I’d definitely stay here.. the one downside is the upstairs beds are very noisy when you move and If you have to get up to use the bathroom down stairs in the middle of the night you will probably wake others up. But overall still worth the 5 stars

The cottage was quant. However getting up to the bedrooms was scary. The rails were tree limbs. It was a spiral staircase. You had to side step to get up and down. The second bedroom you couldn’t open the window which made it stuffy.

Beautiful place with local amenities. Got local salmon and eggs for dinner and it was great! Lots of board games to pass the time and loved playing Monopoly with my friends. Do be careful, the stairs are steep!

This place is perfect. The kitchen has everything you need. The refrigerator is a perfect size. The wood stove is amazing the linen very clean. They even provided towels for the dogs. We make our way up there once a year and this is the best place we’ve stayed in so far. Would love to stay there again.

The owner was very nice, but this home is nothing like what it looks like on VRBO. The bedrooms are upstairs and there are no bathrooms upstairs and there’s a spiral staircase, which is very difficult to get up to is the only way to come down to use the bathroom at night. The home is extremely dated the only heat issue a wood stove and I don’t think anything is up to code on this property wouldn’t be for a family at all or for most couples maybe a single guy who’s rustic, but I cannot refer this property.
