About the host
Hosted by Theresa Field
My name is Tree and I live on the farm with my menagerie including 11 dogs and 6 cats. I am a software consultant and work from home. I enjoy meeting people from around the world who share my love of animals and come to the farm to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica. I have a passion for protecting the environment and the jungle that I live in.
Why they chose this property
Cocles has beautiful beaches. There is both surfing and areas of reef that offer a great snorkeling adventure depending on the weather. There's a beach trail that follows the coastline from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo. There are many supermarkets and great restaurants in the area. Jaguar Rescue Center is also located within 3km of the farm. The farm is 50% undeveloped and this serves as a jungle buffer which provides a home to our local wildlife. The following animals are often spotted on the farm: howler monkeys, 2 and 3 toed sloths, capuchin monkeys, agoutis, 2 species of toucans, macaws, parrots, and many more types of birds.
What makes this property unique
Margarita Hills farm spans over 3 hectares of lush jungle and meticulously curated gardens, all developed in perfect harmony with the natural environment. The property is uniquely framed by two vibrant creeks, serving as vital lifelines that attract a diverse array of wildlife. These natural water sources, coupled with the abundant food available in the surrounding flora, create a sanctuary for local fauna. Birds chirp melodiously in the canopy, while butterflies flutter among the flowering blooms, and small mammals scurry through the underbrush. This serene ecosystem not only supports biodiversity but also enhances the ecological value of the area, making Margarita Hills a true haven for nature lovers and a testament to conservation.
