Relaxing time

Great place to stay close to everything. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We spend time birdwatching and generally unwinding from our busy lives back home, Roy is a considerable and responsive host.

Fourth trip as good as the first.

Absolutely wonderful property. We fully intend to continue to come back when circumstances allow. We love coming to Roy's Place and are just completely relax while we're there. Pictures are accurate and I'm sure anyone will love it just as much as we do.

Relaxing paradise with unique history

My husband and I felt as though we were in our own backyard paradise. Everything was just as advertised. Location was convenient to great restaurants and beautiful sunsets on the bay. Roy was an excellent host! Communication with Roy is easy and pleasant. You do not have to hesitate to ask him for anything and he creates a very private atmosphere. We will return one day and highly recommend!

Relaxing Retreat

We found Roy’s place to be just as advertised and as all his favorable reviews suggested. Checkin a breeze with code provided, parking right in front. The pictures are very accurate. Fun decor, very clean and the space was perfect for us. The outdoor space, pool and hot tub really made for a nice week. Coming back from the beach and after dinner, the perfect little oasis. Upon entering the house the photos were accurate and it was good in aspects. Plenty of space and good decor. Good location for Downtown Sarasota and Lido beach. Hot tub and outdoor shower were a lovely treat but the pool was cold for this time of year but once you got in it was ok. Only thing we didn’t like was the outdoor seating was a bit tired and especially in December it was dark and wasn’t inviting enough to use it much but overall happy

Relaxing

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to relax and have “nothing” to do for a few days when we stumbled on roys place. We had anticipated the trip for months and when we arrived we were not disappointed. Roy’s place was everything we were looking for. We spent most of our time on the linai and pool. The bedroom was comfy and cozy. During our stay Roy was just a text away to help with anything or answer any questions. I would come here again and again.

Paradise in the city . . . .

What a gem! We absolutely loved this place. It has absolutely everything you need. A historic home built by the Ringling Brothers in 1945. It was home to Toto the Gorilla. Just a couple of homes from Sarasota Bay and so close to Lido Beach and St. Armand's Circle. Tastefully decorated throughout. Amazing outdoor space - beautiful landscaping! Thanks for everything, Roy - can't wait to go back . . .

This was our first Florida getaway as a couple, and Roy’s place exceeded our expectations. We were looking for something peaceful, private, and romantic—with a pool—and this place delivered. The home, built in 1945, has a charming history (you can read about it inside the home) and was spotlessly clean and well cared for.The kitchen had everything we needed, but the real magic was the outdoor space: the private pool, hot tub, and secluded outdoor shower were our favorite parts. I only used the indoor shower once—every other shower was taken outside. It felt like a luxury space! The outdoor area was bug-free (minus a few harmless lizards), and the pool was clean, warm, and inviting.Our days became a rhythm of breakfast, swimming, showering, outings to nearby beach towns, and ending each evening back in the pool. We barely saw anyone and never even ran into Roy, who lives in the adjoining duplex—it felt like our own hidden retreat.Minor notes: pool heat fades by evening, not all hot tub jets worked, no ceiling fans (but a portable fan helped), and no TVs in the bedrooms. The outdoor shower could use better drainage. But none of that affected our experience.We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to return. It’s the perfect blend of Florida charm, comfort, and privacy!

Nice, clean place in a quiet neighborhood

Overall, a clean place in a nice quiet neighborhood. Privacy is definitely questionable, as the owner lives on the same property. It is basically a duplex with a wall divider in the pool. The back yard is shared and the owner seemed to just appear at odd times, behind the fence around the hot tub and outdoor shower. We stayed from Sunday to Thursday. On Tuesday the hot tub was shut off with the only explanation being "it's broken". The pool is not heated, so the hot tub was definitely a main attraction for choosing this property. Needless to say it was never fixed during the rest of our stay, which was definitely disappointing.

Thank you for for the candid review. We value our guests opinion to continually improve this 5 star property.. Guests can rest assured privacy is of the utmost importance at the property. The back yard, pool, hot tub and lanai are not shared and completely hidden from view by a 6' privacy fence. At times guests may hear either yard work or maintenance from outside the properties fence but we strive to do it quietly for respect of our guests and their privacy. I regret the rare hot tub malfunctioned during the guests stay. It was quickly explained it developed a leak and a part needed to be ordered which arrived 3 days later. The private pool is certainly heated. We turned it up from the usual 85 to 90 degrees to help compensate for the hot tub. Our guests enjoyment is always most important!

Don't hesitate even a bit! BOOK IT

We couldn't have enjoyed Roy's place more. His attention to detail is impeccable. My husband and I have traveled for years for work. So, hotels on vacation are NOT our thing. We want a clean, private, relaxing space with the amenities of home without the work that awaits us there. Roy's was absolutely perfect. We loved the saltwater pool and the outdoor shower. There's a shower inside, but we never used it. The eclectic mix of people who gather to appreciate the sunset at the end of the road gave us lots to discuss and giggle about the next day. So much fun to mingle! This place isn't for those who want noise. This is the place for those that want to enjoy their significant other in a home away from home. We cannot wait to go back!

What an amazing place this is!

We stayed for almost a week at Roy's place in Sarasota and just loved it. The pool area is spacious and inviting and cozy. Later in the afternoon, twinkly lights come on and it becomes this very magical place. The weather was too cold to swim in the pool but it was sparkling clean and the plants around the pool are healthy and lush. We used the BBQ outside and the fresh OJ squeezer. The sounds of the water coming into the pool, kind of like a fountain, are soothing and peaceful. The kitchen is equipped with most things that you will need for basic cooking and the colors of the kitchen utensils are so cheerful and welcoming! The two bedrooms are spotless and the king bed, the only one we used, is comfy. We watched a little TV and it works well and also you can play music through it with Pandora and watch Netflix while curled up on the comfortable couch. Not only is the house spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated in a simple but elegant style, but the location is great. We walked many blocks through the neighborhood and you are very close to the water there. If you are looking for a smaller, charming, cozy, beautiful home with a delightful host living right next door in case you need him, this is your place! We would come back here in a heartbeat if in the area again. My husband and I highly recommend Roy's home - Indian Beach Sapphire Shores. Love it!
