Sylvan Lake is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 25 kilometers (16 mi) west of the City of Red Deer along Highway 11 or Highway 11 A. It is situated on the southeast edge of Sylvan Lake, a 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) long freshwater lake, in Red Deer County.

The lake is a popular destination for tourists from around Alberta, with over 1.5 million visitors each year. Popular tourist activities include sunbathing, swimming, water-skiing. Winter is hockey camps and ice fishing events.

This reservation has a Flexible cancellation policy - refunds will be issued up to 30 days prior to the check in date.
A 100% refund is provided for travellers cancelling at least 30 days before check-in. A 50% refund is provided for travellers cancelling from 14 to 29 days before check-in. No refunds are provided for travellers cancelling less than 14 days prior to check-in. CanadaStays Booking Fees are refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of placing your booking request.

Great little place by the beach

Cozy and close to the lake

We as a family enjoyed our stay at Linda's cabin. I love that its was so close to the lake (2 minute walk) and close to lots of shops. Everything you need is at the cottage. The backyard is huge and you can enjoy the fire pit (as long as there is not a fire ban). Linda was a great hostess. We would definitely stay here again.

This is the perfect cabin for a home away from home.

The cabin is cozy and quaint. There is enough cooking utensils and pots and pans, a juice pitcher, a coffee pot, and and a microwave to make life easy while on vacation. The hostess is a wonderful lady and willing to help out in every way. The location is fabulous - it could not be better! We will be back!

Great location to the beach but the evening are loud with young people yelling to each other tracing their engines and playing loud BASE music drinking and doing drugs and not one night in seven was that ever patrolled in any way ant it’s the Main Beach Back Row Bandits as we called them party every evening????

Great distance to beach!

We were there pretty much to enjoy the beach with our small children. In saying that the location for walking is perfect with children in tow. The cottage is perfect size if you do accept the size of it and don't have too many people. Needs some minor repairs but that is all cosmetics and doesn't effect your time there. The owner Linda pointed out all issues and was very open about it.

Disappointing and Deceptive

The property was not clean when I arrived. Dirty kitchen (eventually cleaned by host), dirty floors, dead bugs along the base boards, dirty patio furniture covered in dust and cobwebs. Amenities listed such as hot tub, dryer and grill were not included. WiFi didn't work.Below is a picture of the dirty patio furniture.

Cozy cabin close to lakefront

Beautiful outdoor space and deck. Great parking, and location is such good proximity to the lake. Cabin was able to be cooled off at night with the aid of the awesome windows, and warmed up if necessary with furnace. Wonderful set-up.Beds were very comfortable, but would have been nice to have a lamp and night table in bedrooms for reading (as shown in photos).Good stove, but not a convection oven (as indicated on VRBO posting). We used the stove and oven a lot because there was no BBQ (as indicated on VRBO posting). Without a hood fan, the smoke alarm goes off with the least amount of heat (not smoke). Just opening the oven door sets off the alarm.Good fridge, but light works only once in a while. No dish detergent for the dishwasher.Closet is abit awkward to use, and is the only small space to hang clothes. The broken glass on closet door is somewhat concerning.Very much enjoyed our stay. We would certainly consider renting this cozy cabin again.

Location is the only reason to stay here

The cabin is described as rustic, but, that should not mean poorly cleaned and poorly maintained. Both doors were very difficult to lock and unlock; i never could do the back door. We took down a large mirror because it was hanging precariously. The first time we changed a toilet paper roll, the holder fell off the wall. There were large cobwebs hanging in every corner, splatters on the wall behind the sink, mold on the inside of the shower curtain, and old, flat pillows. I have stayed in many VRBO before, all of which provided some helpful conveniences. For example, there is no need for dozens of mismatched plates, cutlery, and cups in a tiny cabin, leaving no space for our food. Some salt, pepper, saran wrap and tinfoil would have been useful. Similarly, no need for dozens of towels, and hence, no room for our toiletries. A small bottle of shampoo and conditioner would be helpful. The big asset that the cabin has is a great location. Even with small children, we could easily walk to the beach, restaurants, and the ice cream shop.

True Cabin at Sylvan

Linda's cabin is a block away from the lake in walking distance to bars and shops. The cabin was exactly what we wanted, a cool little cabin. It's older and has some wear showing but that's what made it charming. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. Linda was a fantastic host. She was in communication all the way through and being there was a breeze. My Mom and I would stay again.

This cute house is located just up from the beach and in the heart of the attractions. It is well equipped and a nice size for a couple. We enjoyed our stay and the outdoor spaces. The place could use some TLC and upgrading (new furniture and some upgrades in bathroom) but nothing too major and it did not impact our stay.

Courageous!

This cottage was perfect for our family to spent 4 great days. It was very clean & cosy, had everything one needs for a wonderful stay. The owner, Linda , was friendly, welcoming and very nice to talk to. A very short walk to the beach. Close to a children play Park, a ice cream shop at the corner mmmmm also a mmm corner ice cream store.

The cottage is perfect for a getaway to the lake . The location is so perfect and just steps to the beach. Being right off the main Lakeshore Drive the cottage is walking distance to all the restaurants and the marina. The cottage is well equipped.

Great location and a charming little guest house

The property is 100 years old or so, and you need to keep that in mind when booking it. The floor is a bit crooked and the door are a bit tough to latch, but overall this was a great place to stay and we would be happy to stay here again. Visited with my 2 boys, aged 10 and 13. Linda was very friendly and helpful, providing information about the town and some of the activities we could enjoy if the rain kept up. Fortunately it dried out by the following day and we were able to get outside. My brother and his family joined us for much of the daytime activities, including backyard games and indoor board games, and the property was good for all of that (7 people total). The location is fantastic. Being able to walk to/from the beach in 3 minutes is great, as is being so close to all the downtown shops and restaurants. The property was not exceptionally clean, but nor was it exceptionally dirty. If you consider it to be more of a cabin than a house, then you'll have your expectations met. It's not a huge place by any means, but is good value and we would certainly stay there again.
