Excellent location for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The cabin was clean and well outfitted. Our host greeted us, talked about the history of the property, kayaking around the lake was great, such a good idea for an old youth camp with so much potential. We’ll definitely be returning for another stay
The property was double booked, so the host let us stay in her cabin. It was good for what we needed, but the tv broke the night before, so that wasn’t great. Host was very nice and easy to deal with.
It’s on an old kids summer camp for the Springfield kids. It’s quiet and serene. Nice little walk down to the water, and a really nice Army Corps of Engineers state park right next door with almost a mile of walking trails through the woods. Susan was extremely nice and easy going and her son was also a really nice guy with two very lovable pups. Very nice place to get away and disconnect from the busy life and enjoy Gods nature. Would definitely stay again!
Sue is a great host, making necessary adjustments to suit the circumstances, generous and flexible. The dove cabin is so sweet, comfortable beds, cozy stove and fully equipped kitchen. And lovely porch! There’s a really cool swing on the way down to a peaceful pond!
We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was beautiful, it was so spacious and well maintained. A peaceful spot on a lake very close to Sturbridge. We would absolutely return.
A sweet, cozy, nostalgic little cabin in the woods. It was the perfect stop over on our road trip to Acadia. Very peaceful, and the screened in porch was wonderful to relax on before bed and during breakfast.
The "cabin in the trees" is the biggest of 6 or so rental cabins on the site of a former camp that is being renovated as a retreat. The owner lives in a house but will not intrude unless you need her. The cabin is funky but comfortable, with several BRs, AC, internet, and a basic kitchen. There is a small bathroom and a separate, tiny shower in one of 2 BRs, which I did not use. A large screened-in porch runs across the front of the cabin, perched in the canopy of several trees. The property is pretty and well-maintained, and surrounds a picturesque lake. Canoes and kayaks are available and delightful to use. A fire pit is attached to the cabin and firewood is provided on site. The owner/host is as nice a person as you could ever hope to meet and was extremely responsive to both phone calls and messages. She provides thoughtful touches such as a bug zapper. Her son is also very welcoming and helpful. They are indeed outstanding hosts. Sturbridge is only a few miles away and there is a nice little grocery store there where you can buy provisions. I stayed there alone and felt completely safe. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone who wants to get away to the woods without giving up most of the conveniences of home.
Our stay was very enjoyable! Spent the weekend checking out some breweries in the area. The cabin was clean and well kept. Check in was very simple. We enjoyed the space very much and will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay at Dove. It was like a family-friendly adult summer camp where all the essentials (propane grill, fire wood, condiments, beds and bedding) were provided but did not detract from the in-the-depths-of-the-woods feel. Close proximity to the lake as well as a beachfront recreation area with trails to boot. Our 6-year-old daughter loved it. Likely to go back given the opportunity!
I really loved my stay at this unique and beautiful property. The owner/host is wonderful as well. All of the personal touches and the woodsy charm of the cabin made this a delightful getaway. The lake with kayak and canoe and paddle board options is awesome too! Highly recommend this property and hope to visit again myself.
This was such a cute little throwback to the summer camp of my youth. The cabin was clean and well equipped, and super cute and comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay or host a larger event.
