A really nice beach cottage

This is a pleasant nicely appointed beach cottage. The huge advantage is it is right on a beautiful beach with a very easy access trail from the back yard. The host will send you check in and check out instructions via a link. My phone had difficulty pulling up the link so be sure you open it well in advance o you can contact her for details if you have an older model phone.

Quiet home on the Beach

Our family of eight had a perfect time at this wonderful property. The neighborhood was quiet and the home was clean, fully equipped and there was enough space for everyone. We had been planning & looking forward to this family vacation for several months & it exceeded our expectations. We were at the beach everyday & enjoyed the town of Manzanita which was walking distance. A great find that we will rent again!

Best Little Beach House

We LOVED staying at the cottage! It's so beautifully decorated and comfortable. The furthest thing from a generic rental. The location right on the beach was incredible! Loved having a fire in the firepit right on the dunes. My kids loved the bunk bed room. The beds were all so comfortable. The washer and dryer were brand new and super quick and efficient. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Great beach location!

My wife and I brought our 3 dogs to enjoy the beach, and we were not disappointed. The property’s location was as described, right on the beach with private beach access. One thing that would be helpful is if there was some kind of marker on the beach to the trail—we both got lost a few times early on but figured it out by the weeks end. Several other folks got lost coming up our trail as well. Our dogs loved the wide beach and we all had a great time. Kitchen was lovely and well stocked, and the check in process was very easy. No complaints at all, the property had everything we could ask for.

Lovely cottage with great ocean view

Comfortable beds, great fireplace. Good lamps for reading. Bring your slippers —the tile can be a little cold in the morning. It snowed during our stay but we were cozy inside. Will be back.

Great beach getaway

We enjoyed the cottage, the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen dining area was adequate for the 4 of us, we had a puzzle on one end of the kitchen table and dined on the other end. The family room was great, we could see the ocean from the couch which was really comfy to sit on too. Beach access is questionable, we just walked down the road a bit to gain access that we did not have to traverse over rocks to get down on the beach.

Hidden Gem

We found in this house a perfect place for our summer vacation at Manzanita. It has a great location, great views, lots if comfy charm, well outfitted for our needs, and plenty of parking to fit our boat. And it's located in a quiet secluded spot on the beach. The owners were amazingly quick in their communication and transaction was completed smoothly. I would recommend to my family and friends.

Charming and Relaxing

We had friends in town from halfway across the country, and this home was the perfect place to show them the Oregon coast. Despite less than favorable weather, we still had an unbelievable view of the ocean, and quick access to the beach when the rain let up. Everything in the home was in great working order, and the kitchen was amazing for cooking dinners in. This was a low-effort stay, which is why it deserves five stars. We would definitely return to this home.

Great beachfront property

My husband, 2 month old infant son and I stayed for a couple nights in October. The house is right on the beach, just a few steps away from the sand. The views from the living room and kitchen/dining area were great. The town was a little bit of walk on the beach side, however it was all flat and easy so it wasn't difficult. It is also less than a 5 minute drive into town if you needed something quickly. The floors in the house are all slate and the kitchen and baths were all updated nicely. We had a very nice stay.

Calm, excitement, togetherness, beauty all in one house!

The house is located in paradise! The view is fantastic, the serene sound of the ocean fills the air. The house has all of the amenities we have at home. The children had a great time running freely and playing in the sand all day long. We, the parents enjoyed it all from the wooden deck. The evenings were spend around the fire pit in comfortable lawn chairs making s'mores. The stores is only a little walk or bike away.

Darling house in AMAZING location!

You can sit on the large, new deck and have the ocean at your feet. Truly amazing location. Comfortable house, with two, nice king beds and a third bedroom with two sets of bunk beds. Two full bathrooms. Full ocean view from kitchen, dining, living room and two bedrooms. One level home great for those with walking difficulties. Manzanita is a nice beach town with great coffee shops, pizza place and a quiet, laid back feel. Parts of the home have recently been remodeled including new kitchen. We look forward to staying here again.

What a Gem

My family and I just stayed here and we hated to leave. I was fortunate enough to have my kids join me so we rented this wonderful house and the owner's other Manzanita house, also in the perfect spot right on the beach. We couldn't have been happier and we plan to make this a yearly event. The weather was also was perfect and was more like August than June. The house was nicely furnished with comfortable, new furniture and the beds were great too. Save our place because we are coming back. I will recommend this house to my friends.

Our favorite place!

Our family (we have two small children) stayed here for the first time three years ago and fell in love with the location as soon as we walked in the cabin. Since the recent remodel, our admiration as grown. I tell my husband that 'if I start acting crazy, please just rent me this beach cabin for a few nights. That's all I need to restore my sanity.' The ocean front views from nearly every room, fabulous deck, private fire pit and beach comfy decor make this our ideal beach cabin. Especially when the sun shines...you will think you are in paradise!

Rustic Beach House has Character and Stellar Location

This house is a comfortable answer to beaching it at Manzanita. Big fireplace for those stormy beach days, and excellent access to the sand and ocean in any season. There is a big yard for badminton or volleyball, and the house is nicely divided (the bedrooms) for two families or guests, with each side having a bathroom. For walkers, it's a nice trek to downtown Manzanita, and if you're not a walker, it's an easy drive to the grocery or anything else you need. Neahkahnie Mountain is the dramatic view to the north, but west and through the many windows, it's all ocean. This is a place for people who love the beach cabin feel. Well equipped with what you need, you'll have a good time relaxing at this beach house.

Our experience at the property was wonderful. The home was so comfortable and welcoming. The veiw was sectacular and right on. We even had some resident ducks hanging out for a couple of days. It did rain the whole time but it did not set us back any. We will be returning. I think the only suggestion we would have is probably having the bbq under cover some how. We did leave a guest book for future guests to sign. Hope they will take advantage of it. Thank you for the great time.

A magical spot …

We’ve visited the beach house the past five years with great friends and enjoyed every last moment of our stay. The updates to the house are wonderful – we especially loved the new sliding glass doors onto the new back deck, the new kitchen, private fire pit, and enjoyed the new walk-in showers. The house was clean and comfortable. We had fabulous weather and spent most of our time on the deck and beach. Even saw a handful of whale spouts one evening – what a treat! It’s an easy walk/bike ride into town but I love just hanging out and relaxing to the sound of the ocean. Kim, the owner, has always been helpful and accessible when we had questions or wanted to book another stay. Can’t wait until next year!

Great Beach Vacation!

We enjoyed everything about this wonderful beach house in beautiful Manzanita, or! The home is directly on the beach with a nice, large deck facing the beach and a grass yard (the yard was a great size for our volleyball net and we played many a game). The house is perfect for two families. It has two rooms with super comfortable king beds and a bunk room for the kids. I'm a big cook/baker and the kitchen had everything I needed. The kitchen was better equipped than most vacation homes I've stayed in. The deck off the kitchen was wonderful. We spent many hours eating and relaxing out there, taking in the views. There was no end to the activities in the Manzanita area. Our group boogie boarded, hiked up Neahkahnie Mountain, flew kites on the beach, biked into town and the state park and had a fire in the home's intimate beach fire pit. We didn't get a chance to visit the surfing beach at Ecola State park...so we'll have to come back!!

Beach cottage with tons of flair

We were fortunate to score an open weekend in June at this most precious spot on the Oregon coast. I now realize the importance of beachfront with kids. Heading to the sand those early morning hours., coffee in hand, with toddler in pj's in order to allow the rest of the gang to sleep in was priceless. That level of accessibility led to endless playing in waves, damming and re-routing the stream right below the house. If you have active, curious young kids like us, the house could get a little small if you were stuck inside with poor weather. Imagine this to be ideal house for adults and older kids year round. Nice luxury touches like fluffy towels, rain shower head add some elegance to this original cabin. You won't regret renting this place from attentive owner Kim. We will be back.

Charming beach retreat

The property was clean and well stocked. High quality dishes, bedding, linens. One mobility note - there is a significant step up to the living room/tv room. This could be an issue for someone with disabilities. We thought it was one level. My father has some mobility issues. We were able to make it work but it was a surprise and I was nervous the first night. Beds were exceptional. This would be an excellent choice for 2 active couples. Or 2 single adults traveling together. Bunk beds for kids but I could see this as quite enjoyable for active adults. Everything you need. Active folks could walk along beach to the little town. We went off season so not a lot open but we brought our own food to eat in. We didn’t use the fireplace but would be quite cozy. I would recommend this property.

About the host

Hosted by Kim Bergstrom

Host profile image
I'm Kim Bergstrom. My husband, Eric Bergstrom, and I have built on my father's dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. We now own three, and continue to grow! We purchased our family beach house from my father in 1996, and have thrived through sweat equity - most people think of us as rather crazy, but we've taken something we love to do and are making it our second chapter in life.

We enjoy taking properties with potential and great location, adding a facelift without removing the character, and introducing them to our expanding group of guests. Our latest endeavor is a turn of the century three story house which sleeps 20. We put a lot of thought and work into each house, and luckily have found guests who love the results. Like many of our guests we've come to know over the years, we hope you also come to think of this special house as your very own vacation home - without all the work!

Why they chose this property

This house is obviously special to us. I grew up spending summers searching through Manzanita tide pools, jumping waves, skinning my knees while learning to ride a bike, following my brothers and cousins into town to buy penny candy and comic books, hiking up Neahkahnie mountain, crowded around the Thanksgiving table with family and friends.

In 1984, Eric may have made the biggest mistake in his life when visiting the beach he asked me "What's there to do down here?" Two years later he had fixed up the house put in the lawn during the late spring rain and married me in the new grass next to the beach on a sunny August day.

When people ask me about the house my standard reply is it is charming and full of character. If you're looking for a new condo experience this isn't the right match. But if you're looking for a true coast experience, whether as a couple, a family, with a group a friends, or just yourself, this is definitely the place to relax and enjoy a truly wonderful get away.

What makes this property unique

Spend your next relaxing vacation at one of the true oceanfront homes on the North Coast / Manzanita area! Many rentals advertise as oceanfront but have a road or other public access between their house and the beach. Your private paradise awaits!
