About this property
3B 2B Elk River home Why stay in a hotel when you can have a home? Work & Play
When you step into this home, you will feel the stress of life fall away. There is something about River Life that just slows things down. You will Relax, Renew and make Memories! Be sure to bring your fishing gear. 2 Kayaks and 2 life jackets will be provided. You can bring your canoes, boats, and wave runners also.
No matter which season you choose, there will always be some sort of wildlife for your enjoyment. In the spring you may see families of geese with their new little ones, and if you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of wood ducks with their babies. These are more difficult to see because they are much more skittish. Be sure to bring your Binoculars!!!
In the summer the river comes alive with bait fish schooling and bass chasing them. Bring your Fishing Gear!!!
The white egrets will be seen along with blue herons. Since you’re staying across from Bald Eagle Holler, you may see eagles!! Google the Call the eagles make, and this will help you identify them. The young eagles will not have a white head and are more difficult to identify.
In the fall the bluffs will be showing off their beautiful colors! We have resident geese that stay all winter, maybe they prefer our company instead of the Cold North???
In the late fall and early winter, flocks of American white pelicans arrive. These are the second largest bird in the U.S. As they fly over the water they look like a string of pearls. You may even hear the loud rushing sound as they corral a large school of bait fish and watch the feeding frenzy begin. These pelicans are not vocal so they sound you will hear are their wings. It’s really amazing!
No matter the time of your visit, we hope you will experience the sights and the joy of living on the Elk River!
Fully Stock Kitchen
Sprawling Backyard
2 Kayaks with Life Jackets and Paddles
Screened in Porch great for Morning coffee and late night winding down from the day on the water.
In September TVA begins lowering the water in Wheeler Lake which affects our water levels until Spring. There is a Boat ramp about 2 miles from the house and the channel will take you to Wheeler Lake. .

About the host
Hosted by .

We are from Athens, AL and we also live on the Elk River. We bought this home so we could share our love of the water with others. There is something about being on the water that just calms the Soul!! We go out on the water as often as possible. My husband fishes a lot! And I watch the wild life, sunrises and sunsets!!
Our goal is to make our home comfortable and enjoyable. We hope you will enjoy your stay at our cottage on the The Elk!

Why they chose this property
This home has access and beautiful views of the river. You can fish from the bank of the river or you can tie your boat up to the sea wall after a day of exploring the River and sloughs nearby. Fish are waiting to be caught. You may choose to go kayaking or maybe you just want to sit outside, relax and get some sun!! TVA controls the water levels on the Elk River. In September the water levels drop considerably and we only have views. In the Spring the water levels return to normal. However, TVA can drop water levels at anytime.
