Quirky and Spacious!

The property looks a bit like something out of a Halloween scene, which is charming but not for those who are easily spooked. There are definitely some unique features such as the living room taxidermy and scythes brandishing the fireplace, but the space is large and was super accommodating for large groups. The best parts of the house/property are the large living room that had plenty of space for our group, the large dining area that could seat 15 of us comfortably, and the large lawn, which accommodated our outdoor activities and lawn games!

Great weekend away!

The house and property were great for a weekend away with 5 couples, two little kids, and a dog. The house is so spacious and has such a captivating design. We took advantage of the grill, picnic tables, and firepit each night. And communication with the owners was flawless. Highly recommend!

Had Ourselves a Great Family Holiday

Accommodated 21 + 2 dogs with ease. People could stay up late in the Great Room without disturbing the party poopers who went to bed early. The fireplace is amazing. The decor is surprising... pleasantly surprising. Mattresses, to the best of my knowledge, are new. The night sky is amazing. Enough rooms to spread out but the Great Room was where we all came together.

Charming house on a beautiful property

We enjoyed our stay in the Windham Earle. The property is lovely, and the house is well-suited to groups. There is a nice divide between the large den/game room and the front living room that both kids and adults appreciated. There are some fun touches inside the house, and we were thrilled that the kids immediately took to the turntable to play the owner's Simon and Garfunkel and Grace Jones records. A couple of things to note: 1. because of the relatively rural location, there is no trash pickup from the house. All trash and recycling must be taken to a transfer station about 5 miles away. Also, they charge by the bag (not much) 2. There isn't a dishwasher. This could be a deal-breaker for a group that loves to cook. We mostly worked around it and used paper plates more than we otherwise would have. We were also very pleasantly surprised at the various restaurant options in the area. I would have eaten lunch at the local salumeria every day.

Nice view strange house

Some of the rooms that were renovated were very nice but the other rooms were dark and strange. I was there for a family vacation with my 85 year old mother. I asked them ahead of time if the house was okay for older person they said it was, it was not. There were no screen on some of the upstairs bedroom, the kitchen screen door did not shut all the way so mice, chipmunks and other small rodents got into the house. There were tons of flies too. There was no pond due to drought, but I feel the owners should have told us that before we got there. I also contacted the owners before I sent in this review so they could address my concerns but they did not get back to me. I would not stay at this house again.

A weekend I will never forget

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony here over a perfect fall weekend. The property is truly exquisite with breathtaking views. The house is so full of character and charm. All of the guests were raving about how comfortable the beds were! The great room was perfect for dancing and playing games. I contacted Alex a few times with questions during our stay and she immediately responded and was extremely helpful and gracious. It is clear that a lot of love was put into making this house what it is and it is so apparent. We plan on visiting this house many many times in the future.

The BEST House and Birthday Weekend!

Wow. I rented this house for my birthday weekend a week ago for a big group of friends and it was amazing. First of all, the location is stunning. Up in the mountains, amazing views. The property is beautiful, we had some sun and enjoyed sipping drinks on the deck, playing croquet and whiffle ball, throwing the ball around for my dog. The road that the house is on is very quiet, we hardly ever saw a car go by or another person. There are two grills outside which was great for keeping one for the vegetarians and one for the meat lovers. At night we had some epic bonfires in the fire pit too. Inside the house was awesome. You can tell that Alex put a lot of heart and soul into the place. The great room is so cool, and super spacious for a large group. One of our days was pretty cold and drizzly outside so we mostly stayed in that day, kept the fire going, snacked, hung out at the very cool bar. Also Alex did a great job keeping the house well stocked. There's all the basic spices you could want and more. The bedrooms are all so cool too. This was great to have with a big group of people. My group has done a lot of house rentals, and something that stood out here was that there was no "bad rooms." Each room was super unique, the beds are so comfortable and cozy. We thought that we would go explore some swimming holes, but the house was so great that we didn't want to leave besides going to the store to pick up more food and drinks to continue the hang at the house. We will be back!

Wonderful home for large groups

This house is fabulous for large group gatherings. We had several families with teenagers, and the house was perfect because of the great room in the back -- wonderful teen hang-out (and some of the adults enjoyed hanging out in the bar area), and the nice living room with TV in front. We could all converge for meals in the spacious dining room/kitchen area, with enough seating space for all. The renovation of most of the house was really nice (not all was renovated equally, with most of the front rooms really beautiful, and the back portion not quite as renovated, but fine) , and the setting was beautiful. Very quiet road with views of mountains (at least in winter, when trees are bare). The house was clean and functional as well. The only challenge was overheating in the 2nd floor rear bedrooms. Maybe there was a better way to regulate that, but we couldn't figure it out. Worth asking if you're renting in the cold season. Alex, the owner, was also a pleasure to deal with. Our group has rented several houses over the years, and this was the best. We hope to return.

Christmas Getaway

We had such a great time at this Mountain house for our Christmas celebration. My family, my sister's family, and my brother-in-law's family all met up in Hensonville with our kids and dogs and had the best time. Instead of sledding or playing in the snow, we grilled steaks outdoors and explored the property, and despite the unseasonably warm weather, we still used the GORGEOUS fireplace in the cozy Great Room. There was more than enough room for everyone and the beds were really comfortable. I can imagine this place being so ideal to come back to from a day of snow play. It's secluded, but not too far so that you can't get to a supermarket or restaurants if you want. Beautiful house, really cool decor, and a great location. Thank you, Alex!!
