Beautifully Renovated Willoughby Vermont Lake View Cottage
Now open in the winter for skiers, ice fishing and snowmobiling! Centrally located in the heart of Vermont's beautiful Northeast Kingdom, the Willoughby Edgeview Cottage is the ideal place for hiking/kayaking and biking adventures, fishing and more!
The Willoughby Edgeview Cottage was built at the dead end of a dirt road as a guesthouse in 1920 as part of a resort in which people from arouhd New England and beyond would rent a cottage with access to a mess hall, roller rink, tennis courts and of course the beach.
Only vestiges remain with the kind of privacy, views and open space that you would expect. Many of the larger houses were torn down in 2018.
The Willoughby Edgeview Cottage is the very last cottage at the dead end of a quiet dirt road with spacious grounds and the best views in the whole association. We may rebuild the main house some day, but right now we love the large lot and privacy!
Named The Willoughby Edgeview Cottage because of its diminutive size and complete privacy, this is a classic Vermont cottage completely renovated in 2016. It has been outfitted with modern conveniences without losing the country charm that relaxes you the moment you step in the door.
The Willoughby Edgeview Cottage has one bedroom with a queen size bed and a small bunk room with built in beds for 2 kids with french doors leading to a large deck with panoramic views overlooking the lake and mountains. There is one bath with a walk in shower. The cottage can sleep 2 adults and 2 children comfortably.
Where the main house once stood, we have built a large dog yard. Inquire about it if you want to bring pets! There is a pet fee, which you will see as you check out which covers pet insurance.
Sitting on top of a knoll which overlooks the lake to the famous Willoughby Gap and mountains, this comfy cottage rests at the end of a short dead-end dirt road so it received ZERO through traffic. Check out the huge outdoor fireplace! With all amenities needed to make it the perfect getaway, why stay anywhere else in Vermont!
The Willoughby Edgeview Cottage has cozy chairs on the porch with morning views perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee. Eat meals around the table on the deck before you head down to Edgewood's private sandy beach for swimming, fishing or boating. The table has and umbrella and the deck a large gas grill. There's also ample seating around the firepit - the perfect place for a sunset bonfire.
There are two large free public beaches in addition to our small private one. You will find several country stores where you can stock up on fishing supplies, beach gear or just stop for a pizza, soft serve ice cream or deli sandwiches. You do not have to drive into town!
This year more winterizing has allowed us to extend our season for spring ice fishing, skiing and other late fall and early spring accommodations. If you do not see the dates you would like, just shoot us an email.

The cottage was just lovely! Very clean and in a great location. We enjoyed exploring lake Willoughby and the hiking trails with our dogs. It is a really sweet place and we are already talking about our next visit. Thank you David for being a wonderful host!
The cottage is absolutely perfect! It was just the right size for our family of 4, plus our dog. The location is very quiet at the end of a road with beautiful views. The cottage is very comfortable with just enough modern updates. The private beach is shared with the other homes on the road but not crowded. Sandy lake bottom that’s shallow for quite a ways out, great for kids. Our dog loved the fenced in back yard. We have already reserved for next year!
We had another wonderful stay on the lake with our dogs! Cottage was just as great as it was 3 years ago & the new owners were lovely! Excellent communication, cottage was clean and cozy, as described with a few upgrades! We loved sitting on the enclosed porch or gated deck with a drink after a hike or mountain bike ride & our dogs just relaxed on their beds looking at the beautiful lake view. The community beach was a great way to cool off after the days activities & the BBQ grill was perfect for quick and easy dinners. Highly recommend this vacation rental!
My family of four and our pups had a wonderful time staying in this Lake Willoughby cabin. The view's gorgeous, the house is warm and cozy, the owners were a pleasure to deal with. This is a great base for exploring the Northeast Kingdom.
The cabin was a perfect place to stay. The views and property are amazing. My dogs loved the fenced in area. I cannot recommend this place enough. Tim was a great host and made sure to stop by and say hello and to check that we were okay.
We had a wonderful week at this cottage! The views of the lake are amazing and the cottage had everything we needed. We loved the private beach, even though it was a little chilly when we were there! It’s a great home base for hiking, scenic drives, and any other adventuring you want to do in the gorgeous Northeast Kingdom!
Quaint cottage with gorgeous views. The dog yard and gated porch made it perfect. Comfy! Deer, ducks, geese and loons! The weather was chilly and the fireplace made it cozy. Thank you for a lovely stay.
The view of the lake and mountains is amazing. The house itself was very comfortable and clean with plenty of places inside and out to relax and stretch out. We also had daily visits from a deer and her fawn (from a hundred yards or so away, of course). This is definitely our new spot for NEK getaway times.

This was our second vacation there and it was just as enjoyable as the year before, very relaxing.
It's a very quiet, restful place. It is clean and comfortable, perfect for a couple who wants a nice get-away. There were 3 welcomed additions this year- a nice dog pen out back, a new firepit and the owners bought the property next door which separated us even further from neighbors. We plan to return again in the future.

Hi Mike and Dixie:
We really enjoyed seeing you again. We weren't sure about tearing down the dilapidated house next door only to put in a drilled well and a dog pen, but so far we've received a positive response.
Now that we no longer have to use the lake as a water source, we will be able to accept reservations into leaf season, plus provide everyone with clean drinking water. No more bottled water necessary here!
This was our fourth strait year here and we are looking forward to next year. It is just a quiet, peaceful place to go with a great view of a beautiful part of Vermont.

Cheryl and Tim were great hosts. They met us upon arrival and walked us through everything we needed to know. The house is a great little place. Super clean and in a great location. We were able to bring our dogs with us and they loved the dog pen, gated deck and beach. Located at the end of a dead end road, we had plenty of privacy but didn’t feel isolated. The Lake Store and Gap Pub were close by for whatever we needed. I can’t wait to book this place again.

We have never had guests with 3 dogs before although we bring several dogs when we spend the night.
We are so glad you liked the privacy of our small cottage and look forward to your next visit!
Loved the size of the cottage, location of being the last on a private road, large fenced in dog area, deck, and private beach. The beach was down a long hill and across the road which most people could walk to but I can’t so the ability to park there was a big positive. My error that I didn’t realize there was no air conditioning. But this was not a problem as they had ceiling fans and a nice breeze coming through the windows. Communication with the owner was pretty quick.Did not like the dirty front of the refrigerator, handle was sticky, but inside was clean. Some of the cabinets were sticky too. Also the lighting wasn’t very good. Just some minor problems but all in all we did enjoy our stay.
We had a great stay with our pups! The cottage was perfect size, so cute and cozy & had everything we needed. We actually preferred being up on the the hill away from the busy traffic of the road because the views were amazing! The private beach made for a perfect post hike stop & we even saw an eagle while out on the canoe. Grilling on the deck followed by a fire in the new pit was a great way to wind down. The association was small, quiet and very private. Host was great at communicating, we can’t wait to go back!

We are so happy to host guests with well mannered pets, especially people like Samantha. There are not many places at Lake Willoughby that have dog yards or can accommodate pets safely, so we have made a huge effort as we have 8 dogs of our own. These people were great guests -- they enjoyed everything we had to offer and their dogs were super well behaved! We would welcome them back any time and encourage any other VRBO host to accept a booking from them.
We had a really nice stay. Tim was very kind and inviting, made sure check in was a breeze, and was helpful with recommendations. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location is great, as is the view. Bed was comfortable but is also on wheels which was a problem for our dog going under the bed. We also discovered a lot of dust bunnies under the bed and arm chair as a result. Lastly, you should know that the water is sulfurous. It didn't bother us but it's worth knowing. We would return.
Took my elderly mother to see the early fall leaves. The property is largely accessible for someone who uses a walker. There are a couple of steps into the cabin. In the cabin the doorways are wide enough for a walker. The shower is walk-in (no grab bars of course). We brought a small portable raised toilet which worked well. The view from the deck and porch is lovely. The dogs loved the dog pen area. I was concerned about possibly being cold given it’s shoulder season, but the cabin was toasty with the gas fireplace. We could drive down/across 5A to the small private beach for canoe access (though my mother didn’t do that).

About the host
Hosted by David and Aisha
Our family lives in Waterbury, Vermont and we own two cottages in Edgewood Park. We stay at our main cottage every weekend in the summer and spend as much time on the lake as we can. The beautiful Lake Willoughby is where my wife and I got engaged and we grew up exploring all around the Northeast Kingdom.
Why they chose this property
This property was an irresistible purchase -- a small neglected guesthouse next to a fallen in main house with beautiful bones that needed to either be torn down or a get complete restoration. It is located in an ideal location with views hardly ever available for purchase these days and we just had to buy. The cottage took a year to complete, but efforts to save the main house were unsuccessful. We finally tore it down in 2018 and put in a drilled well.
What makes this property unique
Guests who stay at the newly renovated cottage are able to see the beauty of the Northeast Kingdom in its entirety while enjoying peacefulness and privacy. We have a resident fox and groundhog. You may even see deer in the front yard!
