Hidden amongst two acres of forest, set in picturesque, English style gardens, above Little Lake in the village of Barrow Bay you'll find your answer, Cobblestone. Truly unique with several original features preserves the RUSTIC nature of this little 80-year-old stone cottage. Cobblestone, also known locally as the Dr’s cottages provides BASIC comfortable accommodation, nature and unparalleled privacy just waiting for memories to be made.

- 2 Bedrooms both with Double Beds

- The Kitchen is Fully Equipped for your cooking needs. PLEASE NOTE that

Cobblestone’s water supply is well water which for rental purposes iS NOT POTABLE for drinking or cooking. Please plan accordingly and bring enough water for your holiday away. Lions Head grocery store is fully equipped for all cottage holidays

Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula requires you to call every-time you have a fire in patio fire place. Refer to rental agreement for details

- The Bathroom has a small shower but with a great water supply; Toilet and Sink
- This is digital free home that does not provide internet. No TV channels, TV has a DVD and a selection of films for a touch of nostalgia
- This is a NO SMOKING but a PET Friendly Cottage. PLEASE take full responsibility for your pets toilet hygiene out side
- Extensive Stone Patio with fireplace, BBQ (propane provided), picnic table and patio furniture

*****PLEASE take note that the stone patio consists of original flagstones creating an uneven surface which may not be conducive for people with mobility concerns.


Cobblestone does not have a washing machine or dryer.
GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING: SHEETS, BLANKETS/DEVUT (PILLOWS ARE PROVIDED); for 3 and 4 night stay. 5 night stay and above bedding will be provided

Cobble Cottage has no water front; situated above Little Lake it is a 3 mins walk down to the lake. Activities are numerous and varied obliviously with the worlds famous Bruce Trial right on your doorstep; Rush Cove Loop, Gun Point, Lions Head Loop and the Jack Poste Loop all within a days hike.

A lovely setting and a comfortable stay!

This is a sweet cottage tucked back by a long winding dirt track. It was very clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed our stay.

Authentic Old Stone Cottage

Quiet, private, restful setting in lovely, forested grounds. Genuine old stone cottage, comfortable, well-equipped. Good location for visiting Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park - which were amazing experiences. The water in Lake Huron was so beautiful. Swimming was wonderful.

Quiet Solitude

Had a very enjoyable time at this quiet, cute, little cottage. So nice to get away from cell service and listen to the quietness of nature. Would visit again.

Worst cabin we have ever stayed at

We have stayed at many VRBO rentals and this has been the worst experience we have ever had. After we booked our stay we were notified that we could not use the water for drinking or cooking...the rental description never mentioned this. Once we arrived we noticed a horrible mold smell throughout the cabin. Even though it was cold outside we had to open all the windows in order for it to be tolerable. My husband and I still felt ill from the smell however. If you have any allergies to mold I would highly recommend staying away from here. The second day we were here we came back after a morning getaway to find the cabin bedroom completely infested with ants. We tried to take a nap but had half a dozen ants crawling all over us while another half dozen at least we're crawling all over the walls. The kitchen water heater started leaking the second day we were there. We regret staying here and it put a huge damper on our vacation.

Delightful stay and charming cottage

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming cottage, and I can’t say enough good things about it. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The cottage itself is beautifully maintained, with all the comforts you could wish for. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into making this a perfect getaway spot. The setting is tranquil and serene, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether it was enjoying coffee on the porch, soaking in the peaceful surroundings, or exploring the nearby trails, every moment was a delight. The fairytale cottage!

This little cottage is like something from a fairytale :) We absolutely loved it and would happily go back. The kitchen was very well equipped and the location of this cottage is great if you want to explore some of the less busy parts of the peninsula. The owners have a fantastic map of south peninsula hikes!

Fall stay

The property is a lovely setting with flag stone patio and wooded property. We heard distant cows in the mornings. It would be so nice if the fire place was working or had a wood stove installed. Particularly for the fall and winter seasons. There was an unpleasant smell in the two bedrooms, perhaps caused by the extreme moisture in the location. But if that could be addressed the time spent indoors would be more pleasant.

Exactly what a summer can should be!

My friends and I had the most marvelous, restorative stay at this true cottage. When we took that long, winding driveway into the property, we knew we were onto something special. The proximity to the Bruce Trail, first drew us to the property, and we walked the Lionshead peninsula both ways. In the evenings we played games and watched opera! (We had brought up our favourites). And I must mention the incredibly well stocked kitchen. I have never encountered this level of thoughtfulness in any of my VRBO stays before. Great getaway

The area is beautiful. As three adults we made this charming cottage work for us. It is clean and presentable. Very comfortable beds with a full kitchen and lots of space to roam and play outside. Brand new windows and doors in the building made it a comfortable temperature with the baseboard heaters (we were there the end of September). The water is not potable, I missed the note about that in the welcome letter. Fortunately, we had taken a case of water with us. And, if you have a sensitivity to mould I would not recommend this place. Over all we were happy with our short stay. The owner is very easy to communicate with. I loved the stitch pieces on the wall by the owner from days gone by.

Our stay at Cobblestone Cottage

We were needing a peaceful retreat, and Cobblestone Cottage provided exactly that. We were alarmed by a recent review complaining of mould, but this must have been addressed. With a rapid plunge in temperature from heatwave to much cooler, damp weather, we did feel the need for some heat, and the instructions about this were a little confusing. It would have been helpful to have all instructions up-to-date and together in one place. Not having potable water was not an issue for us, but might be for others, especially anyone with young children. The English decor touches were a special treat, as one of us grew up in Birmingham. All in all, just the place for us.

Moldy

Well the cabin and the surrounding area was tucked away in the woods. Caution not to arrive after dark. As soon as we entered Barrow Bay we lost wifi. We had to drive away from area to let family and friends know that’s e arrived okay. Although it looked clean, we soon realized that the sofas we quite dusty and the cabin smelled moldy. The rooms had fans but they were house to dead bugs. We didn’t touch them. We bunked out in the living area of the cabin becoming of the mold in the bedrooms. It was terrible. The bathroom vent was clogged and noticeably dirty. We opted out and left for home Sunday morning. If we got anything from our trip to this cabin is that.. there is no place like home. They seriously need to do something about the mold .

Wonderful getaway in nature

The cottage was so cozy and wonderful. It was a perfect romantic getaway for me and my partner. Right near the Lions Head entrance for the Bruce trail. The hike was incredible!! Elizabeth was prompt and very kind and helpful.

Beautiful property ideally located

We very much enjoyed our stay in the stone cottage. The property itself is gorgeous and private and perfectly located if you want to visit Sauble Beach, hike Lion’s Head or visit the Grotto at Tobermory. We were able to do all three during our 3 night stay. The cottage itself is cozy and rustic with basic supplies. The beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately the indoor fireplace was not working during our stay so it was a bit chilly during the mornings and evenings at the end of September. But we were able to enjoy the outdoor fireplace in the evenings as we watched the incredible Canada goose migration overhead.

Home away from home retreat

Quaint rustic retreat, from all things tecnological.Location is tranquil,peaceful and very private. It was a pleasure to sit outside and hear the leaves of the trees rustle and murmur amongst themsleves.

Perfect hideaway

Wish we could stay forever! Perfectly hidden in the woods for a peaceful reset. Lions head beach is only 5 minutes away and it was beautiful! So much to see and admire in this area

Cozy Stay!

The property is very cozy, quiet, great for spending nights together with family and friends in the living room or outside by the bbq. The location is convenient, a short drive to the Lion's Head Lookout Trail or the downtown area with restaurants. Personally I found the beds very comfortable and slept great. There are just a few things which could be improved: more thorough cleaning, as there are spiderwebs and some dusty shelves, and some pet hair was on a bedroom pillow. I'm noting this especially for those who have allergies. Additionally since the tap water is not for drinking, it would be nice if a small amount of bottled water was supplied just until guests can go purchase water. (The close grocery store in Lion's Head is not open late). The lighting outside is very minimal, a bit hard to bbq after the sun sets. Keep in mind you must bring all of your water, plus sheets, blankets and bath towels. If the soft items would be provided by the host and cleaning was improved it would really improve the experience to be a 5 star stay. Nonetheless it's still a great option in Lion's Head and we had a lovely comfortable stay :)

Why they chose this property

Barrow Bay can easily be missed to drive through but it’s central to so many places. It is a beautiful area which is extrememly popular for hikers.

What makes this property unique

Cobble stone is Rustic, very comfortable but at the same time basic accomodation. It is an original stone cottage but has almost a fairytale feel to it. As does it surroundings which offers complete privacy. As you drive up the winding driveway through an archway of old trees the first thing that greets you are 2 old stone gateway post. It’s a bit like coming through the wardrobe in Narnia and there tucked away is this little cottage. We love it.
