Wonderful stay!

This house was right on the water as described. The dock was big and a big plus to be able to park 2 boats and hangout on as well. Communication with host was great and very responsive.

Solid Norris Lake House

Great property with good location on the Lake. The water levels were down quite a bit which made the dock access difficult but if that gets updated or water levels are at full pool I would love to stay there again.

I loved the classic oven …. The kitchen items were not organized which is typical for rental properties … the cabinets smelled musty

Dock completely unusable. Was not aware beforehand. Owner compensated some for it. Had to rent paddle boards to get from the shore to the dock.

The house was good and easy to find. It was stocked with everything we needed. We did find it difficult to walk down the hill to the dock. There were a lot of sliding rocks and gravel which would make it hard for those who don’t get around well such as small children or older adults. I do know that this varies based on the water level, so it may not always be an issue. The kids had a great time swimming off of the dock, and the boat slip was right around the corner which made for easy access. I would not recommend the bunk room for small children as it’s detached from the house, but would be ok for teens/adults. Overall we had a great stay!

Quiet night on the lake

Our daughter is a student at University of Tennessee in Knoxville. We drove down for family weekend and She decided that a quiet weekend on the lake would be better than the hustle bustle of Knoxville. We hired a fishing guide to take us fishing and then watched the football game on TV. The house was perfect.

Perfect Get Away!

This house was great!! It was very clean when we arrived and there was a generous amount of essential items available. The dock is amazing! Great set up for swimming right off the dock. We brought along our boat and docked the boat at the house. There are a couple marinas located just a few minutes away. Great location!! There is a boat ramp located 1 minute away! So convenient !The property manager was very attentive and quick to respond to questions. My family had an awesome vacation here!!

Wonderful Stay

We had a great time at the property. We loved the covered dock. Kids swam from the time they woke up until sunset. And adults were able to watch and stay with them comfortably sitting at the dock. The water is so deep that my kids were able to dive head first, they are competitive swimmers and learned proper diving. Going down the lake was a challenge for the grandparents because of the steepness and gravel covered pathway, but they took their time going down, and were fine. Overall, we loved our stay! This property is so peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be back.

Good stay

My husband and I and 4 teenagers stayed at this location. We brought 2 jets skis with us. The dock was very large and we enjoyed it so much. It is older but huge and covered. The water was really pretty here and the view was amazing. There is a marina across the water so that was very convenient. The walk down was super easy for the teenagers but harder for me as it is gravel and it felt like I might fall but never did. The main house has 2 bedrooms with the living area and kitchen. To get to the bunk room you go outside and walk maybe 15 steps that is covered to get to there. For teenagers it was great but be aware if you have young kids that you are not technically in the same area. There is a window AC in the bunk room. There is no dishwasher and the coffee machine is a keurig. We didn't know that or we would have brought k cups. There is a grinder on the keurig but no reusable cup for it. The stove is vintage but worked great. There are no supplies at all. No salt and pepper, no oil, etc... So plan ahead. I would recommend paper plates and cups so you are not always doing dishes. There is a beautiful deck about halfway to the dock with a grill. We had several meals outside. Overall, a great trip.

Unsafe dock/inaccurate photos

Would not recommend staying at this property. Booked this house mainly for the dock which was entirely unsafe. The pictures are not accurate, it is a gravel pathway that leads to the dock ramp, not grass. To get on the ramp it is a very steep drop off that both myself and my brother (both in our 20’s) slipped when attempting to climb down the rocks. One cable holding the dock to the land also broke off during our stay, shifting the dock completely. Dock is very old with wasps and spiders everywhere. When dock workers arrived to fix the cable we asked if they were also there to make the ramp more accessible, to which they said “We can’t work miracles.” My parents were not able to get on the dock therefore we lost out on using the main attraction to this property. Grill was very dirty upon arrival, and the house, especially the cabinets, had a bad odor. Brought all of my concerns to the property manager, to which they offered no fair resolution because I did not address the issues during my stay as I was trying to still enjoy time with family and disconnect and waited to reach out immediately upon checking out. It was very obvious, as even the dock workers hinted at, that without a complete remodel there was nothing that could’ve been immediately done to make the dock safe. This is the first bad review I’ve ever left on a rental property, but would like to save someone else from the disappointment we encountered and advise you book a different property.

About the host

Hosted by Megan Shope

Host profile image
My husband, Michael, and I live in Farragut, Tennessee, and are raising our three children with love for the outdoors and lake life. Norris Lake holds a special place in our hearts, as Michael's family is from Campbell County, and he grew up spending summers on Norris Lake. Having been close family friends with the original owners of this property, our connection to this home is especially meaningful.

Hosting allows us to help other families and friends create their own special memories at Norris Lake. We enjoy welcoming guests to a place that means so much to us and hope they leave with the same appreciation for the lake, the community, and the unforgettable moments that come with lake living.

Why they chose this property

We love Norris lake for its clean, clear, deep water and stunning mountain scenery!

What makes this property unique

One of the biggest advantages of our property is easy access to the lake. Many Norris Lake homes are built high on the mountainside, requiring guests to navigate long flights of steep steps to reach the water. Our property offers a much more gradual path to the lake, making it easier and more enjoyable for families, children, and guests carrying coolers, fishing gear, or other lake essentials.
