Splendid stay at the Oleander retreat. Nice and quiet. Lots of space. Excellent kitchen and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Beautiful tropical preserve to stare at in a very quiet neighborhood.

Missing the view already

Just finished a 4 week stay in February 2025. Everything was as shown on VRBO. Kitchen was well equipped with cookware as well as spices, cooking oil, cleaning supplies and trash bags. We loved the view of Lemon Bay Park behind the house (we called it Jurassic Park) there’s an entrance on Lord street by the pond about. 7-8 minutes walk from the house. Pool was great and they turned on the heat ahead of our stay. Loved the area with access nearby to Manasota, Venice and Nokomis beaches. Definitely coming back.

Spectacular!

This house in Englewood was by far more spectacular than described. We have never stayed in such a clean, well-equipped house. The hostess was very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions. The same goes for their property manager. The pool was heated and clean. If we ever return to the Englewood area, we would definitely book this house.

Our annual get away

Well, there is so much to say about this beautiful, beautiful home. Our family enjoyed three beautiful weeks. It was everything and more than we could have imagined. Clean, spacious, everything you needed from linens, towels, kitchen, accessories, beach equipment. The host was always available. You were near to everything. The beaches were great, we spent late afternoons in heated pool and mornings at the beach or sometimes we would change it up and spend mornings in the pool and enjoy the beautiful sunsets at the beach. The location was amazing. Short walks to lemon Bay or a nice bike ride in the most beautiful quiet community. we surely did not want to leave. We’re hoping to return next year and maybe stay a little longer. Thank you for giving our family memories to treasure for a lifetime !

Christmas Vacation in Englewood

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Oleander Retreat and are hoping to return. The home is spacious, clean, well stocked with absolutely anything you might need and located in a quiet area. We cooked most of our meals during our stay, and the kitchen has absolutely everything. Englewood has been our winter retreat for many years, and the size and space of this home allowed us to share it the Englewood experience with family. The layout is perfect, as the home almost has separate wings with their own washrooms so that if you are in need of some quiet time, you can just 'retreat' to your wing! A very short drive to beaches, golfing, entertainment and shopping. Communication with Henrik and Heike before, during and after our stay was second to none - prompt and courteous. As Canadians, we were looking for the World Junior Hockey Tournament on TV over the holiday, and when we couldn't find it, within a few short hours Henrik had set up the NHL Network as part of the cable package so that we were able to watch the games! Beautiful House inattentive property manager

This property has a beautiful setting next to a park in Englewood Florida It is about a ten to fifteen minute drive to the beach. The house is very well kept and has a lovely private pool which has solar heat. The house is in a quiet neighborhood which is nice but made it difficult to meet other people and participate in some actives. I would give the house an A grade, the setting a B grade, and the property manager a D grade. The property manager does not live in the area, but rather in Sarasota. We saw him once during our three month stay. He was unresponsive to emails or phone calls. Also the "security deposit" should not be considered a deposit, but rather another payment. Our deposit was kept by the manager with no refund and no itemized explanation which seems pretty harsh for a property used by two adults with no children and no documented damage. Again the house is beautiful, but the manager ruined our stay.

Simply wonderful!

This was the first time I rented a house with VRBO. Not nervous but did not know what to expect. We rented from December 19 to January 7, 2023. A very nice way to get our blended family together over the holidays. Everything went well with reserving and paying for our time. We drove to Florida and located the home easily. Our first impression was very good when arriving at the home. The house looks newly painted in a nice light Floridian color and the yard and gardens were very well kept. The interior of the home was just as nice as outside. Every room was decorated in pleasant light color tones. There were very nice sized bedrooms and bathrooms, all very clean and bright. There is a very nice sized living room and dining area, plus another smaller front room available. The kitchen was very nicely sized, and several could be cooking for a crew of 8. The kitchen had a brand-new refrigerator and even made "craft ice". The kitchen was well stocked with cooking pots, pans, utensils, dinnerware, flatware, etc. I brought some of everything along but didn't need to use it. We were able to cook all of our evening meals and sit together at a very large dining table, and only went out to eat one time. Money saving, time saving and easier with little children. In the living room there is a very big TV with cable, (don't remember system) and very fast WIFI. The pool was very nice and well kept, in fact the pool service people arrived during our stay. (My comments cut off.......

My husband and I rented Oleander retreat for two weeks and invited two of our good friends to join us for the second week. What a lovely experience. First off - the house. It's beautiful, spacious, comfortable, well stocked and spotless. Because of COVID we cooked almost all of our meals in and were so pleased with a kitchen that really functioned. We paid extra to have the pool heated and were pleased that we did because we had perfect weather for swimming and did just that almost every day. The home backs onto Lemon Park (which several of us hiked almost daily) and is very private. There is also a small pond nearby where we watched one lazy alligator and a beautiful great white Egret. The park also has nesting eagles and we were lucky to see them too. Englewood is a sweet town and we enjoyed the Thursday open market (masked, of course). We did venture to dinner one night and made reservations at Farlow's. They appeared to be following all safe practices and the interior booths were separated by plexiglass. Food was delicious. Heike and Hendrik were perfect hosts. We would rent this home again in a flash.

Amazing Christmas 2021 at this beautiful home

Heike was a superb host. Great communication and her home is absolutely beautiful. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to make your stay your own home from home. Lovely area, very residential with lovely friendly neighbours. If anything the pictures do t do the house justice. We paid for pool heat which I would recommend as the pool would have been too cold without but that’s just personal preference. We would definitely stay here again.

If you love beautiful sunsets, walking, beaches and fishing this is it

The house is clean and nice, high ceilings and clear pool. The property is literally five minutes from most things including a nice 5 miles walking trail at Lemon Park. I have been in Airbnb in different parts of the world but his one is well stocked with good quality kitchen items such as plates and utensils. Good quality towels and live bunnies at the back. My family enjoyed beach fishing at Englewood, Manasota, blind pass, and Siesta Keys all of which are only 10 minutes away except Siesta which was further but gives you quiet the fine white sand experience. This is definitely I will come back place to place. Heike the owner is extremely responsive and accessible and wonderful. Thank you

amazing stay the host reached out to us even before we left. he worried all the time as ELSA the tropical storm went by he reached out and gave us advice on how to maintain safe. the house is actually better than what it looks like in pictures. the area was great everyone was polite, there is a lot of stores Walmart, Publix, etc.. etc.. also many beaches and great restaurants available. I wouldn't change anything about the house. there is a couple of mango trees in back. they were very sweet (mmm) and lemons too. the only thing i can complain is that I should of stood there longer. thanks for everything. this house did convince me to move to Florida, see you soon

Wonderful Property

Living well in Englewood

Lovely, spacious, well-appointed home in a quiet neighborhood that made a perfect getaway for our family from Boston. Close to beaches, parks, golf courses, and just a short drive from anything else. Plenty of room inside for us, our two kids, and nanny - including space for ‘classrooms’ and ‘offices’ while working and schooling remotely during the month of January. There was an issue with the pool heater during our stay, but the property owner did everything possible to try and remedy the situation, which we really appreciated. We would definitely consider staying here again during a future visit!

Tranquil oasis

During this complicated year with the pandemic we decided to quarantine/work-from-home in Florida and were lucky to find Villa Sunshine. We had an amazing stay. Heike (the owner) was a pleasure to deal with and answered all of our questions prior to booking.The house is very well stocked, all you need is your clothing. Bedrooms are comfy and well appointed. The pool was the best, nice and large so our whole family (6 people) were able to have fun while in it. The location is ideal, very quiet, backing onto a park. Since this is a "dead end" there are no cars at all except those that live there. The house is 10-15 minutes from several beaches and marinas, fishing is great and if you would like there are quite a few great restaurants. For something fancier we drove to Sarasota which was an easy 30-40 min. The property manager, Andre, was very responsive and replied to all our inquiries. It was a pleasure speaking with him. wonderful stay altogether

The House is very well equipped with everything you need and decorated tastfully. There are very comfortable beds. The property is in a quiet location with friendly neighbors. We enjoyed the daily breakfast at the beautiful pool looking into the lush garden.We really enjoyed our stay in Englewood and we will certainly come back to this utterly holiday home.

We very much like the quiet neighborhood, walks in Lemon Bay Park & quaint Dearborn St. So many options close by that we experienced: - Both Engleowwod & Manasota beaches - exploring Venice & Sarasota - golf at a number of courses - many meals out at restaurants, including one of our favorites - Farlows. - the pool was the right size, although a bit cool some days - the home amenities were as advertised & we loved using the grill & eating at the table by the pool.
