Historic hilltop estate with hot tub, fireplace, theater, and mountain views
Perched high on the hill with unmatched Catskills sunsets, the Resnick Retreat blends 1970s soul with timeless luxury.
Once home to Harry Resnick of Channel Master fame — the family who revolutionized TV antennas — this 8-bedroom estate offers history and indulgence in equal measure.
Across 4+ private acres, pool is closed, year-round hot tub, chef’s kitchen, private theater, Japanese gardens, fire pits, and sweeping mountain views — a legacy retreat made for unforgettable gathering The space Not every house built a town — this one did.
The Resnick Retreat isn’t just a Catskills escape; it’s part of Ellenville’s legacy.
In the late 1940s, Joe Resnick, a WWII radio officer, invented a fold-out television antenna that pulled in distant signals.
With his brothers Harry and Louis, they launched Channel Master, a company that revolutionized home entertainment and brought Ellenville into its golden age.
By the 1960s, Channel Master employed thousands, lifted families, and even drew President Lyndon B. Johnson to dedicate the local hospital at the Resnicks’ request.
This estate, perched on the highest hill in town, was once Harry Resnick’s home. Its walls have seen innovation, generosity, and celebrations that helped define the Catskills.
Today, it has been reimagined for modern luxury while keeping its timeless character.
Inside, 8 bedrooms offer the most comfortable beds, a chef’s kitchen hosts catered dinners or cooking classes (Can be arranged, not included), and a private theater transforms movie nights into an event.
Expansive living areas and floor-to-ceiling windows open to panoramic views of the Shawangunk Mountains.
Step outside to over 4 acres of nature: lounge by the heated pool in summer, soak under starry skies in the year-round hot tub, stroll Japanese-inspired gardens, or gather by fire pits as the sunset paints the mountains.
Whether for family reunions, corporate retreats, or a luxury escape with friends, this is more than a stay.
It’s your chance to live inside history — where innovation, hospitality, and nature converge.
Main Floor – Connection & Comfort - At the heart of the home, the chef’s kitchen is more than a place to cook — it’s where laughter gathers around a sprawling island, private chefs host dinners, and families linger long after the plates are cleared.
The theater room turns evenings into events, with a huge screen that makes every film feel larger than life.
In the living room, Several plush couches circle the wood-burning fireplace, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Catskills as if they were painted just for you.
Step onto the semi wrap-around deck and feel the day slow down — morning coffee above the treetops, or sunsets painted across the mountains while dinner sizzles on the grill.

We had a large group with adults and young children, and this place was perfect. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, lots space inside and outside for hanging out inside. Plus the pool is amazing! The hosts were also super welcoming before and during our stay.

Thank you for your kind words! We’re so glad the house provided the perfect space for your family event. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we’d love to welcome you back anytime!
The house is super cozy, spacious, organized, we had a quiet few days there, and we were very well looked after by the managers and host responsible. All communication was easy to access and we had quick answers to what we needed.Unfortunately, the hot tub didn't work during our stay, but we understand that they did their best to fix it in time, but it wasn't a big problem for our group. We are grateful for the days at the house.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for choosing to stay with us!
We’re thrilled to hear you found the house cozy, spacious, and well-organized, and that our team could assist you promptly throughout your stay.
We truly appreciate your understanding regarding the hot tub—it was unfortunately damaged by a previous guest, and while we worked tirelessly to resolve it in time for your visit, we regret that it wasn’t ready.
We’re taking extra steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again and can’t wait to welcome you back for an even better experience next time!

What makes this property unique
Once owned by Harry Resnick, a pioneer in satellite technology, this home carries a legacy of innovation and elegance. In the late 1970s, his company employed 7,000 people and generated $45 million in revenue. The estate was a masterpiece of luxury, with imported furnishings and a staff of butlers to maintain its grandeur. Today, the property offers guests a chance to experience that same level of sophistication, blended with modern amenities like a heated pool, 11-person hot tub, Japanese garden, and a state-of-the-art theater.
