We held our 'Girls Weekend Getaway' this year in New England and couldn't have found a better property and locaiton. We spent a day in Boston (easy drive in and out) and then another day in the Berkshires (Lenox--about a 50 minute drive) antique hunting and visiting Tanglewood. The house accomodated our group of 8 women perfectly and everyone had lots of bathroom & bedroom space. Loved the house, loved the town. What a great trip.

Gorgeous Home, Fabulous Hosts
Our family (traveling from New Zeland) spent 2 weeks in Longmeadow (over Labor Day Weekend) and needed a large, spacious but comfortable house to accomodate our large group. The rooms in this lovely home were well-appointed & beautiful but very cozy and comfortable. The 4 bedrooms and bonus bunk room upstairs had large, queen and king size beds and each had wonderful sheets and pillows. The bonus room has a double bunk bed, along with a single futon, double matress on the floor and a TV/VCR which was a welcome extra. We were able to put all of the kids in this room and they had a ball together, while being very comforable. The chef's kitchen was a delight and we cooked some very nice meals during our stay. (Every gadget and applicance was available.) The basement also has a kitchenette, along with 2 large bedrooms that we were able to use on the weekends when we had family from NYC visiting. The Whites were very helpful getting us set up on WiFi, explaining the TV/Entertainment System and giving us an overview of the area grocery stores, etc. We will keep this property on our list to reserve everytime we visit the area. Worth every penny & a true gem.

Fantastic Weekend--Wonderful Home--Fabulous Host
I coach a community Basketball team in San Diego and we traveled to Western, MA to compete in a National Tournament. I brought 12 seventeen-year-old boys, along with my assistant coach and we loved the house. It was perfect for the size of our group and allowed us to spread out in the 7 bedrooms. We enjoyed the patio out back and grilled every night, held Ping-Pong tournaments in the basement and used the fire pit on one cool evening. The hosts have thought of everything to make for a perfect and pleasant stay adding thoughtful touches like making their kitchen staples available (so we didn’t have to go buy every small item needed). We plan to return every summer for this same tournament and appreciated the extremely comfortable beds and fabulous sheets, pillows and comforters. Worth every penny and we received our security deposit back w/in 24 hours of check out. Perfect in every way.

Invaded our Privacy and Wrongfully kept our deposit
My family rented this house as a place to stay during the NE Food Truck Festival. We're new to the food truck business. From our very first inquiry email to the homeowner, our intended use for the property was made known. We were particularly drawn to the chef-style kitchen! We felt it would be perfect for any last-minute food prep for the Festival. The house had sufficient sleeping room for our family who were helping us at the Festival and everything in the home appeared to be in working order. That is where the positive review ends. WE HAD NO IDEA THAT WHILE WE WERE COOKING, CHANGING OUR CLOTHES, AND SLEEPING THAT WE WERE BEING WATCHED LIKE HAWKS ON A LIVE-FEED SURVEILLANCE CAMERA!! They filmed a 22-year old boy while he toweled off after showering and changed into his pajamas before heading to bed in the living room sleeping space. We feel violated. The owner invaded our privacy and gave us NO NOTICE that there were cameras within the living space that would be filming our every move.
We checked out at 11:10 AM. 21 minutes later, the owner sent us an email stating that we would not be receiving one penny of our security deposit back. Apparently, within those 21 minutes, the owner had scoured the 3-floor home and not only found that an “original oil painting was scratched” but that “3 of the All Clad Williams Sonoma kitchen pans were scratched.” She was also able to conclude that the “no smoking policy was violated” and “professional food was prepared in the house” and, therefore, the sofas and all 3 floors of carpeting needed to be steam cleaned…oh, and she obtained estimates for all of these “damages” within those 21 minutes. I can assure you that we did not scratch any oil painting or pans, that no one smoked in the house (a couple of people did smoke outside, they took their butts with them when they left), and that although we intended to prepare food for the Festival in the home, we ended up only needing to finish prepping a small amount of chicken. Of course, we cooked ourselves breakfast, lunch, and dinner which is to be expected during a 3-day rental. The owner estimates that we caused $9,000 in damages to this house when, in fact, we were model tenants. The house was left spotless. In fact, it was cleaner when we left than when we had arrived.
We were duped into thinking that this listing precisely fit our needs and then within 21 minutes of vacating the premises, were told that the owner was keeping our deposit.

Response from VrboOwner on 27 March 2020
We have successfully rented our home many times and were disappointed that this stay represents our first negative experience. Although the guests only paid to rent the top two levels of the house, I opened the basement to them as well (giving them 7 full bedrooms) as a courtesy and feel that they abused that gesture. Although all rentals are a business transaction there is an assumed level of respect in the Home Rental community which the group violated. The reservation in conection with this rating was for 6 adults but there were over 15 people staying in the house, along with excessive cars parked in the driveway. Our property is not designed for professional food preparation or commerce but the renters not only misrepresented the number of guests who would be staying but also their intented use, which included professional food preparation. No surveillance cameras are used inside the house. There are motion detectors (with no video capability) inside the home which may have been mistaken for surveillance cameras but these are not operational unless the security system is activated (which requires on-site, physical activation with a PIN). Additionally there is no 'living room sleeping space'. There are high-end sectional sofas in the living room that are not intended for overnight sleeping. The "House Rules" section of listing states: Longmeadow is an upscale, residential community with several town ordinances and bylaws that guests should be aware of and follow during their stay. There are strict leash laws for dogs and noise ordinances that prohibit any loud noise (music included) before 7am. or after 10pm. EST. Additionally no more than 4 cars may be parked in the driveway at any given time and no RVs, Campers or large commercial trucks may be parked overnight (or visible from the street). Inside the home no shoes are to be worn. And no eating on the sofas or living room carpet. Large gatherings of over 12 people are not allowed during the course of your rental." Becasue the renters violated the 'no smoking' policy, along with excesive guests and damage to the interior of the home, their Security/Damage Depost was not refunded.

Elegant comfort and a perfect stay
We had a fantastic weekend in Longmeadow and never imagined loving this home as much as we did. It's in a great location and was a pleasure to enjoy the comfortable elegance of this house. We were able to quickly get to Northampton but also zip to the Hartford airport to pick up friends. And if you visit try the Iron Chef sushi about a mile away. Excellent!

Exceeded every expectation! Loved this home & stay
My husband and I shared this stunning home with 2 other couples and we spent a fabulous week touring the local area. When we weren't in the Northampton/Amherst area we enjoyed the gorgeous Chef's Kitchen, cooking and relaxing. This house has EVERY high-end appliance and gadget which was fun and a joy to use. The beds and bedding were divine and we loved the craftsman style design of the home. We plan to return every year and repeat this perfect vacation.

What makes this property unique
We designed, built and have created our home with much deliberate thought and attention. We wanted a warm, inviting environment with touches of elegance mixed with a relaxed place where friends and family can gather. The main vaulted ceiling kitchen area accommodates a large group to our "chefs kitchen" that boasts every culinary feature imaginable. From a steam & convection oven to a warming drawer and 2 dish washers, our house is a delight for entertaining. There are also reading nooks on each of the floors and a beautiful cherry library with hundreds of books to enjoy.
