Used formerly as a loggers cabin in the early 1900's; this cabin is in the woods with privacy, yet only a 15-20 min drive to Penn State University. There are two bedrooms on the second floor with three twin beds and one queen in the front bedroom and three twin beds and one double in the back bedroom. There is a TV downstairs with a fire stick upon which You Tube TV is provided. So, please bring your passwords for any and all streaming needs. There is cell phone coverage and WIFI is available. The pond is a short walk and is stocked with large mouth bass, perch, and catfish; and is catch and release only. In the summer, top water lures and weedless lures work best.
The stream that runs through the property is small, but large enough that it is stocked with trout by the local sportsman club.

This place was great from top to bottom. A beautiful cabin in a beautiful location. The owners were very easy to communicate with and left great instructions that covered everything, even with suggestions on where to eat. Will definitely visit this cabin again.
We enjoyed another stay at this quaint cabin in the woods. This annual trip brings together three generations of family for some fishing and relaxation.
Craig’s cabin was a perfect quick getaway for a visit to see our son at Penn State. Quiet and remote but only 1/2 hr from campus. It had all the amenities we needed. The steps were a bit steep but not a problem. Loved the outdoor areas (firepit, trails, porches). Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Craig!
This was an excellent stay for my husband and young sons who love to fish. They enjoyed the cabin and fireplace and had a fantastic time fishing with easy access to the pond and stream. They look forward to another stay in the future.
Nice property with lots to do and see. Close enough to PSU for graduation weekend! Could use a second rail on the steep steps upstairs. Bathroom could use some updating along with shower facilities!
I brought our wrestling club to this house while we competed in a tournament in State College. We had 6 on our party. The house accommodated everyone very nicely, the yard/porch gave us a place to relax between days. Plenty of room to sleep. Owner is very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Very pleased with our stay.
Enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the cabin! Our teenage boys enjoyed being able to fish in the pond and we all loved sitting by the fire and catching up in the evenings!
This property is a very nice hunting camp. Well supplied and maintained. The only issue would be privacy. With 2 large bedrooms, side by side, and 8 beds you have to be comfortable sleeping in the same room with everyone else.
Our second visit to the cabin was as enjoyable as the first. The family really enjoyed the Peace and quiet, the fire pit and the adjacent field, and seeing way more stars than we do at home.
Every year we take our 6 grandchildren away for 2 nights 3 days. This was a perfect retreat, 2 1/2 hours from home and driving distance from an amusement park we visited.
Great property - including a cozy cabin with a beautiful porch, large yard, pond and stream. Abundant birds and other wildlife. A peaceful nature retreat.
Secluded location in a beautiful setting. Short driving distance to lots of restaurants and attractions.
Excellent host - answers questions quickly.
We enjoyed the campfire area and fishing in the on-property pond.
Would visit again!

About the host
Hosted by Craig Sechler
My wife and I purchased this property as a recreational property to escape to. Our family uses the property to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the front porch or sitting around the fire pit on a crisp morning enjoying our coffee and company, while watching all the wildlife. It is our hope that you enjoy it as well.
Why they chose this property
Being a graduate of Penn State, we fell in love with the area and all it has to offer. We were looking for property close to Penn State, but also offered privacy in the woods, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife.
What makes this property unique
We have created a forest stewardship plan and are constantly tending to our forest and numerous food plots around the property. There is an active sawmill on the property that helps put to good use the renewable resource of the forest. In the winter we enjoy tapping our maple trees and making syrup. We live nearby and are blessed that we can use the cabin all year long.
