BIRCH HAVEN IS A VACATION RENTAL LIKE NO OTHER...

Aesthetics and comfort are given equal emphasis at this artistic 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo loft, furnished with antique barnwood & log furnishings designed personally by the artist-owner. Just 2 blocks from Main Street, the downtown location means that grocery stores, restaurants, art galleries, trendy cafes are all at your doorstep! We are also just a short half block to an integrated creekside trail system that showcases jaw-dropping views of the stunning Canadian Rockies!

The loft features 23-foot vaulted ceilings, soaring 8-foot walls of glass flanking a cozy log/river stone fireplace & hi-speed wireless internet. Enjoy stunning views whether you are lounging in bed, relaxing on the leather sofa, working out in the gym or soaking in the rooftop hot tub! Even though the hot-tub and gym are shared with other occupants of the building, they are rarely crowded because there are 3 gyms and 3 hot-tubs in the building.

Every piece of antique barnwood and log furnishing is exquisite and crafted by artisans, earning us a reputation as the area's most sought-after loft for honeymooners, families, and those looking for a vacation experience that's a cut above the rest! (All the photos shown here are of ACTUAL VIEWS FROM BIRCH HAVEN!)

THE BIRCH HAVEN DIFFERENCE...

Birch Haven offers free wifi and an unusual number of thoughtful bonuses, which adds tremendous value to your stay.

Travel guidebooks and brochures to help you make the most of your visit. A barnwood armoire brimming with toys, board games, and novels. Even cookbooks in the gourmet kitchen.

At Birch Haven, you can pamper yourself with our feather-bed topper for plush bedding comfort. Or remove the topper, if you prefer a firmer mattress. We even offer a 'library' of pillows to accommodate your preferences.

Upon request, we also offer hard-to-find amenities that make a real difference to parents: a portable playpen/crib, plus a dining high chair for your little one!

DISCLAIMERS: Please be aware due to mountain conditions, we cannot guarantee 24/7 wifi as provider outages that are beyond our control sometimes can occur. The hot-tubs are shared amenities and are subject to periodic closure for cleaning/maintenance. There are 3 hot-tubs in the building complex (2 rooftop and 1 indoor), so there is usually at least one that is open. However, we cannot guarantee availability as the cleaning/maintenance schedule is beyond our control.

Great views from apartment

Uniquely decorated, this apartment has everything you need for a stay of any length. The fireplace was a nice touch. Beds and furniture very comfy and kitchen well stocked. Location is within walking distance to restaurants, pubs and grocery shops. Nice place to sit and watch the sunset on the mountains.

Smaller than anticipated

Pros: - right in the heart of Canmore (very cute little town) - small balcony - great directions and arrival instructions with pins/codes to access every space needed including detailed parking instructions which were very helpful - we didn't have a chance to use the hot tube area, but I'm guessing that's a pro ;) - basic toiletries provided (including hand soap, dishwasher detergent, etc) - plenty of towels, blankets, etc. and a well-stocked kitchen - clean - view Cons: - Much smaller than anticipated. 1 bedroom + 1 loft area (with bed) + 1 hide-a-bed. The living room with the hide-a-bed is barely big enough to fold out the bed (you can do it, but it's pretty cramped) - ONLY ONE USABLE BATHROOM. Yes, technically the loft contains the 2nd bathroom, but the toilet is just out in the loft area (not in a closet or anything) and since the apartment is so small, everyone would be able to hear (and probably smell) everything happening in that "bathroom". - Each space is pretty small, so putting 6 or 7 adults is VERY crammed. We had 6 adults there for one night, which was fine, but any longer than that would have been pretty uncomfortable. - No room for kids to run around or play since the kitchen, dining area, and living area are all small and filled with furniture.

Not all it's cracked up to be

Stayed here for a night and was disappointed. The claim of sleeping 6-7 isn't accurate unless you are a college student and can pile in together or have 4 children and 2 adults. The location is great but no working TV (can get the roku working but doesn't help if there are sports on you wanted to watch) and the hot tub is not very nice. The description really overcalls it. I think it would be fine for a group of 4 max but the price isn't worth it and cancellation is 60 days ahead which makes it difficult if plans change.

Excellent Stay!

The apartment was just as described: it was beautiful inside with large windows and an open concept. The kitchen was loaded with utensils/dishes - and basically anything that we required. The place was very clean when we arrived and there were extra towels and bed sheets should we have needed them. The view was beautiful and I must say we were very well situated! We were close to grocery stores, retail and a five minute walk from Canmore downtown. I would say that the place fits four people very comfortably (couples) if you are looking to have your own rooms. All other beds are either located in the living-room/dining space or in one of the two rooms. The condo amenities were great as well, we enjoyed the gym and hot tub greatly! The landlords were also very responsive and accommodating. All and all would definitely book here again:) Many thanks and we hope to see you again in the future!

Unit was clean, well maintained

Our expectation of the unit was that the views were incredible - from the photos we saw. We faced a large parking lot with major box stores, some mountain view. The design of the loft is poor - toilet is wide open to the bedroom and downstairs. The bed was set up in front of the window, so no view or potential to open the window. The location was excellent in terms of proximity to downtown and many restaurants. The building is quiet and very secure. We were also not aware that the unit rates were quoted in US dollars until after we booked. We feel this should have been made evident in the quote, as opposed to being in fine print at the very end of the information.

Great location!

We (2 senior couples) stayed 2 nights at this place. We spent most of the time sightseeing, so we didn't have need to use all amenities. After I was given invalid code to unlock the door, I contacted the owner and she responded very quickly giving me a correct code. FYI: owner's phone is registered in Georgia, USA, so long distance fees may apply. Apartment is beautifully and artistically decorated. Each piece of furniture is unique and original. The owner put a lot of information about the area - what to see and where to go. Provided was also a tablet and a free parkpass. What made our stay less pleasant was constantly thinking about all the rules and restrictions provided by the owner. There was a whole list of instructions with fees to be charged if guests don't follow them. For example: $50 per bag if you don't take your garbage prior to departure. If this would bother you, we would not recommend this place.

Beautiful but a few minor maintenance issues

Beautiful condo. Spent every night in the rooftop hot tub. My only negative comments are a couple maintence issues. The dining room lights did not work and the lower bedroom lamp did not work. As well as we were unable to use the jet tub as the cold water tap was broken. But all fixable. The park pass was an extra bonus though.

Overstated amenities and lack of basic's!

The positives - great location - central to Canmore, restaurants and river walks. Good view of the mountains. Good proximity to national parks! My impression of this place is they are charging what the market will bear in terms of rental price but doing very little to insure the comfort of their guests. Bed's are a single mattress on top of plywood and blocks. Minimal supplies - toilet paper ran out day 4 and that was with a minimum # of people staying (two couples - a fifth person 2 nights). Coffee filters for a few days. Lack of everyday kitchen tools to prepare meals. We basically had a wooden spoon (took 4 days to find that) and a spatula. Yes there is cork screw and a few other gadgets - but please - a basic set of cooking utensils should be a given. One large saute pan - well I guess you can cook everything in one saute. The roof hot tub was down for maintenance 4 of our 7 nights. While the owners are very proud of their custom designed furniture - it is 'so' uncomfortable to sit on- basically birch sticks with a cotton chair pad. The park pass is great but we all went separate directions so ended up having to buy park passes several days. While they say it can sleep 7 - I sure wouldn't want to share this limited space with more than two couples - in terms of adults. Loved area - disapointed in the rental.

Beautiful and Clean with Gorgeous View - Great Location

Six of us (4 adults, 2 children) stayed at Birch Haven penthouse last weekend for 2 nights. From the very beginning, the owner was very quick to respond to our inquiries prior to arriving and presented as very friendly. Our immediate impression was how large, clean and uniquely decorated it was. Huge picture window with a gorgeous view of the mountains was a big bonus and we loved the little balcony we had. (Be careful with the screen door - it's pretty finicky.) There were very helpful notes and binders for us with clearly laid out rules and info that made for an easy transition into our vacation. While reading the binder, we were impressed upon discovering that all of the furniture and decorations were hand made by the owner themselves! (And if you really love it - they do commissions!) We cooked a few meals in the kitchen and had all of the tools we needed to complete a great meal. Added bonus was having the dishwasher. All equipment appeared new and in great condition. Just two things to be aware of: even with a thermostat in the penthouse, it got very hot when trying to sleep. However, opening all the windows at night brought in beautiful fresh breezes that made it comfortable to sleep. Also, they provide a fan that we found best used in the upstairs loft bedroom. The second thing is in regards to the upstairs loft bedroom - just be prepared that it is ALL open concept - including the toilet and tub! It was a little weird to have the toilet out in the open right near the top of the stairs facing the bed. None of the adults were comfortable using this so we put our two children in the loft bedroom where they had easy access to the toilet at night if they got up. Might I suggest to the owners to place a privacy screen separating the bedroom and toilet as one may feel a little less exposed. However, there IS a main full bathroom downstairs on the main floor for everyone's comfort. Overall we had a great experience. Thank you!

Great character in a perfect location!

We had a great stay! Why stay in a boring, ikea-styled condo when you can enjoy the charm of this unique, two story condo! The property is very close to a grocery store and a short walk (5-10 minutes) from all shops, restaurants and cafes! The tablet provided was super convenient for listening to music with supper! The hot tub area was fantastic and it is in an open area that provides amazing view and great stargazing on a clear night. The kitchen has some basic condiments, spices and sugar which was also a great convenience factor for morning tea! The property was clean, well-maintained and the owners provided quick responses to all my e-mails. We'll definitely be coming back!

Nice Place

Overall this place is nice. It has an amazing view of the mountains and is conveniently located by shops and close to downtown (within walking distance to everything) . The second bathroom is upstairs and is wide open in the loft, so you might not feel comfortable using it, depending on who you are sharing with. The biggest problem we had, was we were given the wrong code for the condo. It's always my worst fear that I am going to get scammed, so this was pretty concerning. Lucky they answered the phone and were able to give us the correct code. The other thing to keep in mind is the check-in time is pretty late, 5pm, and the check-out time is also early 10:30am.

Great location to downtown Canmore, lovely decor and comfortable beds! We had a lovely stay at the condo, I was easy to find and get into. It was quite windy our second night and the vent in the loft tends to howl! Once we figured it out all was well. lol Thanks for all the little extras too!

Birch Haven Honeymoon

Birch Haven was perfect for our trip to Banff. The host's directions on how to get there, park, and find our way in were super clear. All parts of the process went smoothly! All the comforts of home... wait; it's more comfortable than home

This was a great find. VERY convenient to shopping and Canmore's downtown area. The unit has great bedroom and loft spaces, each with bath (sleeps 4 easily, plus I think the couch is a pull-out bed). The kitchen is good sized and properly-equipped. The place is tastefully decorated too... I wish we had their design sense (or their Designer's sense)! The owners encourage guests to leave behind non-perishable foods so we found some good starters for meals too!

This is my third time staying during the long week-end in this condo. Every time, I'm amaze by the cleanliness of the condo and the special furniture. The location is superb as everything is close. Unbelievably bad

I don't know where to begin. The furniture that is "Every piece of antique barnwood and log furnishing is exquisite and crafted by artisans, earning us a reputation as the area's most sought-after loft for honeymooners, families, and those looking for a vacation experience that's a cut above the rest!" appears to be home made from random pieces of wood. The "dinner table" had seating for 4 with the chairs made from branches, uncomfortable to say the least! The cushions on the love seat are thin, and uncomfortable, and the loveseat is made from barnwood. The first (and last) time my friend sat on it, he took a bad sliver! Incredibly this piece of furniture was more comfortable than the couch. The couch appeared to be "old", and felt like it had been around for an extended piece of time. The "towels" were small, (we were 4 average sized adults) and rough. I would use them to dry my car after a wash. Pots and pans? Where? I found 1 dinky wok, that I could barely cook 4 eggs in, and a MUCH smaller pan that could only cook 2 eggs. (I am not kidding here.) There were 2 toasters, 1 didn't work (which had been recorded in the guest book by previous renters) and the other was so small that I had to cut 1/3 off of each slice of bread before I could put it in the toaster. The microwave didn't work, (and we couldn't find any instructions for it). The dishwasher was basically falling apart as we loaded it. There was no barbeque, which wasn't mentioned, (bad on us for not asking) but even worse, there was a big deck, but only 2 chairs available for use on the deck. This place is advertised as sleeping 7, so you would expect that there would be seating for 7 for dinner, and maybe chairs for 4 on the big deck. Finally, don't plan on parking in the reserved spot, I drive a Volvo S60 (small car) and without spending an inordinate amount of time, I wasn't able to park there. The price seemed reasonable based on the description, but I would suggest that potential renters review all of their options. As an added suggestion, in the base of the building is a national furniture store, which would I would suggest should be visited. We have used VRBO many times; the U.S., Canada, Europe, and England, and fortunately, this is the only time that we have questioned our choice. I recommend VRBO, but next time I will ask quite a few more questions.

Beautiful property but...

This is a beautiful condo that the owner obviously takes a lot of pride in. The location is close to restaurants and amenities. The view is spectacular. The owner has chosen some unique pieces of furniture to decorate with. Little informative sticky notes left around was useful as was the complimentary park pass. Our son liked the mini ipad provided. The only downside of our stay: we did not notice an existing small hole/tear on one of the fitted bed sheets which unfortunately our daughter didn't think to bring to our attention until after the fact. The small hole became a large tear during her sleep when her foot must have gotten caught in it (how else does a 13 year old rip through what the owner says is 5 month old bedding with nothing other than her bare foot?) As a result, the owner charged us 70% of the replacement cost, brought down from her original 86% after my husband replied that it seemed high. So do not hesitate to stay here but perhaps do a quick look over once you arrive to be sure housekeeping didn't use or leave anything in less than perfect condition.

loved the location

The owner was accommodating and gracious with our special requests (related to booking as well as during our stay). The condo was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was better stocked (for cookware and dishes) than many other places we've rented. The vaulted ceiling was great. The furniture was comfortable. The large bath in the loft was a bonus, too. We also appreciated the Park Pass. And it was very easy to access the condo with codes; no keys to misplace! The reason we can't rate 5–stars is due to the loft configuration. It's a bed and bath combo deal, but there is no door or screen between the toilet and the rest of the space. So, not great for privacy. Also, the bed in the loft, complete with canopy, is too large for the space. We couldn't reach past the headboard to open the window and it was quite warm in the loft. As well, there was no blind on that window, so we were awake with the dawn. So, if you don't mind the unshielded toilet/bath/sink and bed combo, and you like being up with the sun, you'd probably love it. =) We also thought it unusual that there were no hand towels provided, nor tissues. Our favourite thing about this rental is its location. Convenient for lots of amenities. Just a short, pleasant walk across the bridge to Main Street and some great restaurants.

Travel is somewhat of an obsession with us, and having traveled extensively in over 50 countries, we can quite safely say that the Canadian Rockies (and especially Banff National Park) still holds up as one of our favorite spots in the world.

Why they chose this property

We fell head over heels in love with this awe-inspiring location during a vacation here and had hardly scratched the surface of available activities in those 2 weeks. When we realized that it would take a lifetime to enjoy the gifts of the area, we quickly decided that we wanted to own a slice of heaven... to have a special place to rejuvenate our minds, reassess our priorities and recalibrate our lives.

We first purchased one penthouse loft, loved it so much that we purchased another loft! Hence, we now have TWO SIDE-BY-SIDE lofts that we are proud to share with you. these 2 lofts can be rented separetely, or together (for large groups).

Come experience the magic of the Canadian Rockies!

What makes this property unique

When we say 'we are a vacation rental like no other', we mean it! Where else will you get a free GPS-activated driving tour of Banff or use of a tablet, or a library of pillows carefully selected so every type of preference is accommodated? Where else is EVERY piece of furniture (except the sofabed) a work of art, lovingly designed by the artist-owner and crafted by artisans all over Canada?

And we haven't even mentioned the playpen, or the high chair for children, or the WALLS of glass showcasing the stunning mountain views. How about the exceptional downtown location where everything you could need is at your doorstep... grocery stores, cafes, art galleries, restaurants, even ATMs! We could go on and on... but we invite you instead to stay at Birch Haven, and let us know why YOU love our place!!
