Spacious renovated home, 4 bedrooms in Normal Heights. 2 BA. This large 1450 s.f. house has been tastefully decorated, modern amenities & ambiance. We are within walking distance of Adams Ave. restaurants, bars and bus line. Central location near all San Diego has to offer. The house is in the front, one of three houses set on a deep lot with two parking spaces for your use in the back. The house is separated from the other house by a fence for privacy. Near a quiet lovely canyon. Nicely landscaped. We have furnished with your comfort and relaxation in mind. Large master bedroom features king bed, plus a sleeper sofa, and sliding glass doors onto small patio. 3 bedrooms are furnished with queen beds. Ample closet space throughout. Gorgeous master bathroom has double sinks and jacuzzi bathtub, plus a regular full bathroom. Fully functional modern kitchen with granite countertops, washer/dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, coffee, stove, microwave, dinnerware and basic cooking/dining supplies. Bed linens, blankets, pillows, towels, soap, shampoo, included. Dining room and living room have refinished hardwood floors. Lots of seating. Central heating and air conditioning. Front porch chairs are a great place to have coffee, and watch the joggers and dog walkers go by. Pet friendly with approval. Close to Balboa Park, ZOO, Scripps, Rady, Sharp & UCSD hospitals, Mission Valley, Downtown and SDSU. Walk to Adams Avenue with great restaurants and bars such as El Zarape, Blind Lady Ale, Rabbit Hole, Polite Provisions, Tao Thai, etc.

Great Place!

Great location, short drive to everything we wanted to do. Lots of space for even a larger family, kitchen has everything we needed, washer and dryer is always a plus. Very quiet neighborhood and lots of food places within walking distance. Loved this home, great character.

San Diego Family Trip

Overall great place to stay! We came for a family vacation and this house worked out perfect. The location was convenient to downtown, San Diego Zoo, Balboa park and Petco Stadium. House was clean and had everything we needed as well as a very quiet neighborhood.

Great for a larger family

Clean and plenty of room for a larger family. Location is good, with quick freeway access and fairly close to most San Diego attractions. A little tricky finding it at first as google maps took us to a different street with same name and number, so maybe some help with directions.

Great Stay in San Diego

This was a cozy and spacious place for our family of 7 to stay in San Diego and had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. The walk-through bedroom does not offer privacy, but worked well for our younger kids to stay in. We used the parking lot that you access from the back alley and felt our vehicle was secure there. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to family and friends.

Excellent location for family vacation

We came to San Diego as a Christmas gift for our kids. This house is a great location with easy access to the zoo, great beaches (we went to Coronado and La Jolla) and Sea World. We also went to Legoland, which was a bit of a drive, but not terrible. The house was clean, well kept and exactly as described. Parking was a little tricky to find since we got in after dark, but the owners were very responsive and helpful to make sure we found the right places to park. We had a great trip and would definitely stay again!

The interior was so clean. Every amenity needed was available. A great kitchen to cook in. Wished it was fenced. A few homes on the street were pretty rough. Would have enjoyed a gas grill. A gentlemen knocked on the door at 7:00 am requesting money.

Comfortable and Convenient for San Diego and Area

The property worked well for our travel needs. The honey spaces accommodated our needs for 4 retirement-aged cousins and an adult daughter. We enjoyed hanging out in the living room, playing cards in the dining room, and using the kitchen for breakfasts and coffee. Coffee was amply supplied along with creamers, sweeteners, etc. One super bonus was a parking area in the back. Street parking was always full so we were really glad to have guaranteed space in the back. The "walk through" bedroom worked for us since one of our group was pretty flexible and didn't mind others passing through now and then. Overall, it was a good stay and fit our expectations well.

Normal house in Normal Heights

The house is suitable for a family gathering in a pleasant neighborhood adjacent to Adams Avenue business district. Great to walk to local shops and restaurants. Quiet, but there is an adjacent public easement that folks do use. Yard is not fenced, something to note if you have a pet, and neighborhood is full of other dog walkers. House was clean, but owner must not check out home prior to rental so inconveniences may present themselves: unusable grill b/c so dirty, toaster didn’t work and battery in smoke alarm went out mid-stay. Kitchen ware is spotty and random (usual array of dull knives and banged up pots and pans). Overall, pleasant stay in average home.

Fabulous stay.

I really loved my stay here. It's a great location. Its close to a lot of little cafe's that are walkable. Also the grocery stores and Wal-Mart are less than 10 minutes away. She was also very flexible. My daughters got there early and she was able accommodate. She and her husband were very responsive. If I ever have to go back I would love to stay again!!

Great location, good home...

This home is located off a main street so it's pretty quiet and residential, yet close to the freeways to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer. If you plan to use all four bedrooms, do pay attention to the layout picture provided as one bedroom is a pass-through room to get to the two back bedrooms. Off-street parking was a nice perk, but street parking was mostly available during my month long stay. The house is in need of some TLC (many burnt out light bulbs, broken bedroom blinds, dishwasher unlevel, gas smell from oven, etc.). No major dealbreakers in my book, but a little attention to these matters would certainly improve the overall quality of the home & experience for the guests.

Quiet & Cozy!

My family enjoyed our stay at this property. It was well stocked with necessities and Von’s was close by for extras. The neighborhood was quite and parking in the back was easy. The freeway was close and simple to access. This property is centrally located to a lot in SD. A great touch was the night lights in the bathrooms! Thank you for the nice place to stay!

Issue with owner during pandemic

First let me say that the house is adorable. It has a funky layout but it was very cute and clean and stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable. My issue is not with the property, but with the owner. We were there for my brother’s wedding which was on the weekend when the Coronavirus pandemic started to wreak havoc in California. We had planned to be there for a week but became very concerned when California shut down all of the restaurants and closed schools. My parents and I do not live in CA so we needed to get home as we were not sure of travel restrictions that were to come. When we reached out to the owner to discuss us leaving early she did not respond and we had to call multiple times and leave texts and voicemails before she finally got back to us. During that conversation she said she would only give us half of our money back for the days we would not be staying in the house. VRBO was also unwilling to help, even though a few hours later we saw an email in which the CEO stated they would do everything they could. The owner and VRBO missed an opportunity to respond to this unprecedented crisis in a kind and understanding manner. And had it worked out differently we would have been repeat customers because this property is conveniently located for us. However, we will not be using VRBO or recommending this owners properties to anyone in the future.

Nice house, just a couple of problems

The house met our needs. The interior of the home was very nice, clean and as represented in the photos. We had a couple of disappointments and that was the photo displayed on the website showed a nice green front lawn, which attracted us to the home because we were taking our two young grandchildren. A lawn would of provided a better outdoor experience and a place to play. There is no lawn, just dried weeds, grass but, mostly dirt. The front door latch did not hold the door close. The front door would only stay closed if it was locked with the dead bolt. We had to wedge a towel between the door and frame to keep it closed when we wanted to enjoy the front porch or outdoors. Thumbs up on the interior, thumbs down on the front landscape.

This house is roomy, great for families. Close to where we live and the neighborhood is a friendly safe family area. Close to San Diego State and downtown. Central location; the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park are 3.2 miles away. Ocean Beach is 8 miles, Coronado Island is 10 miles, a quick highway drive. Broadway, in downtown San Diego is 5-6 miles, depending on how you get there. Not far from Marine Corps Recruit depot.

What makes this property unique

Modern updated kitchen, spacious, home away from home. Spread out floor plan offers quiet sleeping away from the living room. Central air conditioning and heating. Windows are modern double pane insulated for extra quiet. Parking for two vehicles in rear.
Central location close to all San Diego has to offer. The local restaurants such as El Zarape Mexican, Tao Thai, Blind Lady Ale House and DiMilles Italian all have great food.
