Late summer is peak seagrass season on the Chesapeake Bay, and this year was particularly abundant. Seagrass is actually a positive sign of a healthy Bay, but tides and boat traffic can cause it to wash onto the shoreline. We cleaned the beach prior to your arrival; however, shoreline conditions can change quickly with each tide. As noted in our listing, our beach is tidal, so its size and conditions naturally vary. We also apologize that the lawn was longer than usual during your stay. We had significant rain leading up to your arrival, which delayed our normal mowing schedule until the ground and grass were dry enough to mow properly. The combination of summer weather and recent rain can also bring an increase in insects along the Chesapeake. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to make our listing as clear as possible about the natural, ever-changing nature of a Chesapeake Bay waterfront.
