Awesome cabin minutes from Kings Canyon entrance. Exactly what we needed after a long day of driving from Sequoia NP through Kings Canyon. Complete respite. Beautiful blue oak tree at the deck. Enjoyed watching the deer on their morning routes through the property.

It sounds like you had the perfect park itinerary, and we're happy we could provide a relaxing landing pad after all that driving. Watching the deer from the deck is one of the best ways to start the day out here. Come back and visit us next time you're exploring the area!

Beautiful remote location! We decided to spend some time in the snow and this place delivered! We stayed cozy with the wood burning stove, and the internet was strong, and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. The hosts were very responsive to questions. My daughter loved the loft bedroom, which was the coziest room of the house. Make sure your vehicle can handle a slightly dicey road where you will need clearance and good traction.

The listing does say 1940’s cabin so I shouldn’t have been surprised however most of it had been replaced. Main problem is the road I.e. “trail” getting to the cabin. It’s almost less than one lane, all dirt or mud, uphill, downhill, curvy & rutted with drop offs. It was impassable the day it rained/snowed, Dicey for 2 days after. Highly recommend you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle if you rent this cabin & check the weather forecast first. 2nd problem is lack of HVAC. Can’t speak for hot weather but it was cool/cold when we were there in late April & the cabin is COLD. There are 2 wall heaters that “knock off the chill” but incapable of warming the space. The bathroom gets NO heat at all so remains cold. There is a wood burning stove that heats up the main room & loft areas well if you don’t mind building a fire & there is sufficient dry wood. The kitchen is NOT good for cooking in. No dishwasher, minimal pots/pans (had to cook 1 lb gnd. beef in 2 pots for chili) they are old & worn, one kitchen hand towel was provided so had to use copious paper towels to dry dishes after handwashing. The deck is large but crumbling. The MBR has French doors leading out to deck but no curtains. Lighting in cabin is minimal - it was difficult to read. Decor is ehh. Positives: Comfortable king size bed in master bedroom, comfortable couch/loveseat, good WIFI, privacy, close to Northern entrance to Sequoia/Kings Canyon, and hosts are responsive.

Fun rustic getaway for our family!

We had the best time spending the day playing board games, reading, spending time together and at night watching Christmas movies with hot cocoa and snuggling by the fire. The road to get there in November during the rain makes the road muddy and challenging but not impossible as long as you have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle you should be fine. We were skeptical at first since the manager was not minimizing the condition ofroad but heywe have an all wheel drive suv and this was an adventure so we went for it and we were glad we did because it is secluded away from the roads and very peaceful. There were a couple hiccups with the oven not working. Stove worked just fine so we used that instead and there is also a toaster oven. The coffee pot is small so you may want to bring your own if you like coffee. No dish towels but plenty of paper goods like paper towels, plates, napkins, etc. We had 4 adults and two kids (10 and 12) on this trip and so 2 adults slept in the downstairs room. The other two adults slept in The double bed upstairs which was a tight squeeze no matter how much you love your spouse and the kids in each twin beds . I would say if you have more than one couple then the double bed may not do well for you. There is a day bed downstairs as well with a pull out trundle. Overall this is a little gem in the woods and you can tell the owner has put a lot of hard work into restoring it. It really is rustic and off the beaten path and just what we were looking for!

About the host

We are a family who needed an escape from the city and who like projects. We found this little cabin 5 years ago in need of some TLC and it has been a labor of love ever since. When we aren't up there ourselves, we want to share it. We truly love this space and hope you do too.

Why they chose this property

We visited Kings Canyon National Park years ago with our (then) young children and fell in love. We really enjoy being in the Sierras, seeing the giant Sequoias, enjoying swimming holes in the summer and hot chocolate by the fire in the winter. Our cabin is perfect for enjoying the park and then having some peace and quiet in the afternoon, with a southwest facing deck that looks out it's own hidden valley into the sunset.

What makes this property unique

We put a lot of work into restoring our cabin in a way where it still looks like a cabin. Vintage furniture, real restored cast iron clawfoot tub, original refinished floors and wood paneling, this cabin actually looks like what you expect when you imagine staying in a cabin.

But it also has wifi, cell service, an EV Charger, and a smart TV, and is 15 minutes from the excellent locally owned coffeeshop!
