Rock on the front porch & look out onto the center of town where the train used to stop for people to get their groceries & go to the post office. Now this once abandoned home has been completely revitalized but wrapped in historic elegance for a comfortable, spacious stay.

The main floor features:
• Master bedroom & private bathroom

• Blow up twin mattress in the master closet w/extra linens

Upstairs includes:
• Bedroom w/two twin beds & mini arcade game
• Bedroom w/full size bed
• Jack and Jill half bath.

One extra toilet paper, dish soap, hand soap, a trash bag, and all purpose cleaning spray are provided.

One towel set for each guest is provided.

Firewood and grill available upon request.

All areas of the house are accessible for guests except for a locked closet off the kitchen.

This house is located on the corner of a country two lane road.

This property is adjacent to our other listing (Cozy Cabin in Goode) making it ideal for several families to stay close by. There is a tree line that runs between them to provide privacy.

My wife and I and another couple stayed here for the weekend for a local wedding and enjoyed our stay greatly. The Historic Train house has a lot of character and is very well done with some nice modern updates. Our host was very accommodating and we would definitely stay there again.

GREAT SMALL HOUSE STAY!!!!

The property is in a nice location and easy to get to. The house is newly renovated that combines new sleek looks with the old house work. The kitchen tile floors resemble the old train station and the old work wood rafters make for a nice view. The house is a great place for a family stay and located near great locations.

Great base for pro level disc golf

We stayed here for the PDGA disc golf world championships and it was the perfect home base - 12 minutes from both New London and Ivy Hill courses. Kristen was a wonderful host, very responsive to questions and helpful. The house has a cool history and the owners clearly put a lot of care into restoring it. Enjoyed peaceful mornings on the rocking chairs on the front porch. Thank you!

Tranquil Country Getaway

We had a wonderful stay! The house is even better than shown in the photographs - we loved looking around at the various historical memorabilia and photos from the renovation. It was well appointed and was comfortable for our family of 5 - the kids loved playing disk golf outside and we had a fun evening around the fire pit on the one night we got in and weren’t too tired from our excursions. It was a pleasant 15 minute drive into Lynchburg and only about 5 minutes from a small town where we could get food and anything else we might need. As “train house” alludes to, it was down the road from some train tracks. When we booked, we were initially apprehensive about possible noise, but being well away from the city/crossings the trains never sounded their horns and it was far enough away from the house and muffled enough by trees and other structures that you would only know a train was passing by a slight rumble. Definitely not enough to wake anyone. Kristin was very accessible and welcoming, and checked in with us a few times via the VRBO app throughout our stay. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us for the week!

My husband and I have lived in this area since 2006 and we have 5 kids. I love having guests that appreciate and enjoy our places because we worked really hard to completely renovate and design these spaces.

Why they chose this property

We love this area because of it being out in the country where it’s calm and quiet. Also, we like this area because of the local history. Just across the road was where the train used to stop for people to come to Goode and go to the store and post office.

What makes this property unique

The incredible tree carving of a train in the front yard is amazing to see. Inside, as many original components to the house were preserved as possible. This includes the beams in the ceilings, the wood plank walls, and the bricks that line the front sidewalk.
