About this property

Ocean Front Retreat Cabin

Just south of Cannon Beach, OR, Far Cry is located down a secluded, wooded road and sits just above the beach with a full view of the Pacific Ocean. The north end of the beach is Cove Beach and at low tide a cave to Arch Cape is accessible. To the south is Falcon Cove named after Cape Falcon, a headland which rises 750' out into the Pacific Ocean. Maximum of four occupants. There are two separate bedrooms, one bath, a fireplace, hiking trails and lots of old movies and games, comfy chairs in which to relax your cares away and of course 180 degrees of ocean right outside. The kitchen is stocked with spices and cooking utensils. Fresh linens await your arrival. For now, 1-2 dogs are welcome for a $25 per dog. Water is to be conserved at all times.

Wonderful house and location

Very nice ocean front two bedroom house, located right by a beach access path. The stretch of beach at this location is wonderful for walking and exploring.

If you want peace and quiet this is the place to be. The views are stunning, nice clean sand to walk on, and sand dollars oh my! House has all you need and the owner is at the ready. You will love the peace a tranquility! ENJOY!

Wonderful Stay

Beautiful, peaceful clean place to be. House is as beachfront as it gets. Fireplace with plenty of wood onsite, comfortable beds, full kitchen and a dreamy view of the ocean. We had a great stay!

Beautiful property

We really enjoyed our stay at far cry. The property is beautiful! The only draw back was the water restriction situation that wasn’t stated until the check in directions came, it’s challenging to conserve water when everyone (family of 4) is always covered in sand and needs separate showers. Otherwise we had a great stay!

Recharge and reset

This is one of my favorite places to stay because of its location. It’s far enough away from everything, yet close enough drive to Cannon Beach or Manzanita. I did all my cooking at the house, as I was craving the quiet! The owner is amazing and helpful.

Beautiful views

We loved our stay at Far Cry. The views are incredible, and we enjoyed walking on the beach and watching a storm roll in from the living room. We had a slight miscommunication with check-in, but the host was easy to communicate with and solved things quickly. The temps got low at night, so we appreciated the extra blankets and heaters!

A much needed Getaway

I love this house PERIOD. The location is great and the neighborhood is quiet. The house comes fully stocked with everything you need. It does take a minute or 2 to warm up inside, but that is what sweatshirts are for! The owner is responsive and you can tell they love their place.

Cozy port in a storm

The cabin was a warm and cozy port for me and 2 small dogs during a blustery, rainy weekend. Listening to the waves crashing, watching the clouds roll in, and enjoying occasional sun breaks, was a wonderful respite. The cabin was clean and comfortable with everything you might need. It is clearly a beloved family cabin with lots of character. You will enjoy it if you're not expecting a pristine, sterile investment property rental.

Stunning location

Great location and stunning ocean and coast view. Accommodations were as stated in listing. Unit has few opportunities to become exceptional Update dishes - worn and chipped Remove personal items from bathroom - shower soaps and other items are not desirable and hygienic Coffee machine needs replacement- slime in water housing is unacceptable Upgrade beds mattresses would be a good investment Great overall experience- recommend for those like a cozy simple accommodations with an exceptional location

Wonderful spot!

I refuse to leave a review because I don't want to share this spot! It's like staying in a quaint family cabin with stunning views. This little relatively unknown beach is amazing. Access is a bit treacherous for someone with limited mobility, balance, etc. But it's a short drive to more accessible beaches. Cable and wifi have been added! It was a little cold in winter but nothing an extra sweatshirt couldn't handle. We will be back!

Great getaway spot

I'm so happy we stayed at Far Cry for our vacation to the Oregon Coast. The location is simply spectacular - right on a wide, sandy beach, framed by the steep cliffs this coast is known for. Peaceful and quiet - often we were the only souls in sight on the beach. We saw seals, all sorts of seabirds, and sea life galore in the tidepools. The house was perfect for us - it's obvious it's a well-loved family home that's been maintained with dedicated care for many years by Carolyn. My wife's family used to own a small 1950s-era home on the New Jersey coast and this reminded me of that (except this location was far more scenic and less crowded than NJ!) Well stocked with everything you might need, very clear instructions on how to use anything, and more books and movies than you could possibly consume in months. Beautifully decorated as well, including some very nice artwork by the owner herself! Far Cry is a haven and I hope some day we can return.

From the minute we walked through the front door, we knew we had chosen the perfect spot.The cottage was very clean & had everything you could ever need. The view of the ocean couldn't be better. We enjoyed it so much, we were able to extend our stay 2 more nights. We will definitely return!

It was just what we were looking for on our first trip to Pacific NW! The beach was only steps from the house and offered a perfect peaceful setting with no crowds. Nice neighborhood. Long walks at low tide, wave sounds to sleep by and colorful sunsets. Owner very responsive and easy to work with. I wish we lived closer to visit more often!

This place was perfect! The views were incredible and it seemed like you had your own personal beach. It’s private and secluded, yet less than 15 minute drive to Cannon Beach. Definitely recommend!

Good view but many drawbacks to rental

The view is very good. Unfortunately, the heating system, lighting, cabinets (too high for most women), steps (too high and no handrails and water/septic (small capacity, very limited) are lacking. Would work for a young, couple but problematic for older folks, folks with mobility challenges, and families with small children.

Secluded beachfront house.

The description of the property was accurate. Very cute, cozy ocean front property. The beach access is right next door, however, the beach really is only safe during low tide as there is very little beach left which requires you to drive to another beach during the day. The house is comfortable and “beachy”. The low water requirements may hinder you a bit, but with just two of us, we didn’t mind. The property is in an area with few houses and down a narrow road so be prepared for this. We had a big storm and power outage and had trouble finding needed supplies. The views are spectacular and the place is very peaceful.

Wonderful retreat!

We loved our stay with our pups at Cape Arch Far Cry cottage! It is peaceful and so comfortable. We loved having a front row view of the ocean waves. It is also close to Manzanita and Cannon Beach for stores, restaurants and beach walks. It was perfect for our getaway!

Why they chose this property

Buying Far Cry in 1985-86 on New year's Eve was a dream come true. The house was a true fixer. Over the years improvements were made, but the integrity of the 1953 original house was maintained. A strip of the original wall colors was left in the hall way just for fun. Far Cry is in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is private without being too remote . The best part is the 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. I hope you enjoy my little piece of Heaven as much as I do.
