About this property

Ocean Front Retreat Cabin

Just south of Cannon Beach, OR, Far Cry is located down a secluded, wooded road and sits just above the beach with a full view of the Pacific Ocean. The north end of the beach is Cove Beach and at low tide a cave to Arch Cape is accessible. To the south is Falcon Cove named after Cape Falcon, a headland which rises 750' out into the Pacific Ocean. Maximum of four occupants. There are two separate bedrooms, one bath, a fireplace, hiking trails and lots of old movies and games, comfy chairs in which to relax your cares away and of course 180 degrees of ocean right outside. The kitchen is stocked with spices and cooking utensils. Fresh linens await your arrival. For now, 1-2 dogs are welcome for a $25 PER dog. Water is to be conserved at all times.

'The Sea runs wild and beautiful in our blood, which probably explains why the far cry of the gull haunts us even beyond earshot. So our ocean home, forever beckoning, is named 'Far Cry.'

We had a wonderful visit at Far Cry. It was just as advertised. The cabin was clean and cozy. You could sit on the chairs and watch the ocean or access the beach right next to the cabin. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay!

The views of the ocean were million dollar views. It didn't matter if it was raining or sunny, we had both. The access to the beach was right beside the house. The beach itself was very secluded and very few people were on it. Our dog loved it! The cabin was clean and comfortable.

Absolutely loved our visit- this place is Magical- we didn’t want to leave. The host is very responsive and accommodating, the house is full of treasures- so fun watching old VHS movies. We will be back!

Oh my gosh review everything about this place was like a dream amazing views, The sunsets were to die for the beach was awesome Very few people there the way down wasn't bad at all for a seniors. And really not that far if you need to go and get fresh seafood at Kelly's Brighton, also went up to Driftwood restaurant in Cannon Beach that was outstanding and yummy. Really cool pictures decoration,the windows we're huge with a wonderful view, was perfect comfortable the kitchen had everything and more. Carolyn was awesome very helpful AA parking was really cool too. We will be back

What a wonderful day we had at far cry! This is not your typical rental. It is an absolute Haven and a gift to be able to stay in a place like this. The location and views are exceptional. And the home is filled with meaningful and artistic touches that give the sense of having the opportunity to stay in a place full of happy memories and history, and not just the usual rental unit. It was wonderful to be trusted to stay and care for this place even for a few nights. We hope to return as we feel we left a piece of our heart there.

What a beautiful spot to stay and relax. It was like having our own private beach. The host was easy to communicate with, but we didn't really need to because all the information we needed had been provided. Would definitely stay again.

Wow. Location, location, location. Views were amazing. A bit daunting to have to worry about water usage due to effluent restrictions. That needs to be addressed and should be stated up front not after you make the booking. Heating system needs updating as well. Kitchen was adequately supplied but is a hodgepodge of stuff as was the furniture. But overall it was a very peaceful retreat

From the minute we walked through the front door, we knew we had chosen the perfect spot.The cottage was very clean & had everything you could ever need. The view of the ocean couldn't be better. We enjoyed it so much, we were able to extend our stay 2 more nights. We will definitely return!

This place was perfect! The views were incredible and it seemed like you had your own personal beach. It’s private and secluded, yet less than 15 minute drive to Cannon Beach. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful, peaceful clean place to be. House is as beachfront as it gets. Fireplace with plenty of wood onsite, comfortable beds, full kitchen and a dreamy view of the ocean. We had a great stay!

Wonderful retreat!

We loved our stay with our pups at Cape Arch Far Cry cottage! It is peaceful and so comfortable. We loved having a front row view of the ocean waves. It is also close to Manzanita and Cannon Beach for stores, restaurants and beach walks. It was perfect for our getaway!

It was just what we were looking for on our first trip to Pacific NW! The beach was only steps from the house and offered a perfect peaceful setting with no crowds. Nice neighborhood. Long walks at low tide, wave sounds to sleep by and colorful sunsets. Owner very responsive and easy to work with. I wish we lived closer to visit more often!

Why they chose this property

Buying Far Cry in 1985-86 on New year's Eve was a dream come true. The house was a true fixer. Over the years improvements were made, but the integrity of the 1953 original house was maintained. A strip of the original wall colors was left in the hall way just for fun. Far Cry is in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is private without being too remote . The best part is the 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. I hope you enjoy my little piece of Heaven as much as I do.

What makes this property unique

There are security cameras installed at the exterior front door and the SE exterior corner. I allow 1-2 well behaved dogs with a $25 charge per dog. Please pay the charge when requesting your stay.
