The house was a perfect place with plenty of room for my husband and I to take the family. Looks right over the river and has the cutest little fenced in yard for the little ones to run around in. We will be back for sure!
We absolutely loved our stay here! The house was beautiful inside and out — super clean, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The amenities were amazing, from comfy beds and a peaceful outdoor patio and gazebo. What made our stay even better was the host. Kind, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a perfect experience. Every question was answered quickly, and every detail was handled with care. And the view of the Mississippi River right out the front door … wow. We had fun watching the barges come through. This place is a gem, and we’ll definitely be back.
We loved our time at the Sabula home! We ate most meals outside so we could watch the trains/barges go over/under the bridge. My husband and I stayed with another couple, who had the upstairs room and bathroom. Our friends felt the upstairs window A/C was able to keep that level cool. The kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated the use of charcoal and lighter fluid supplied for the charcoal grill. We rode motorcycles each morning in the area and rode boat on the river in the afternoons. We were able to rent a boat slip at the local marina, which was actually only a couple minute drive from the house. The marina offered us free ice for our cooler each day since we were renting a boat slip. The house is located on such a quiet part of Sabula. We fell in love with Sabula - we walked to a local coffee shop one morning and various neighbors spoke with us while walking. Very hometown - loved it! One suggestion would be to possibly have queen/king beds in the home to allow for more room sleeping.
Booked on a whim to get away for a couple nights along the Mississippi and this seemed like the right fit. We weren't looking for anything extreme, just something comfortable and near the water. This certainly checked the boxes! The host was wonderful and very accommodating to allow us to bring our pup along for the fun. Close to some great wineries and breweries. If you've never experienced the Mississippi River's unique tempo, this is perfect. The train trestle was visible right from the back yard so we got to see it open up for barge traffic coming through. The biker bar, Poopy's, is audible from this spot when you're in the yard, but you don't hear it inside. The neighborhood was quiet, only the occasional traffic at night.
The beds are smaller, but that's in the listing and wasn't a surprise, nor an issue. Just fair warning if you need something bigger. Kitchen had what we needed and we spent our downtime on the porch with the windows open with the cool breeze.
One word of caution for those traveling with lower clearance vehicles: the driveway is not ideal. We have a larger SUV and it handled it fine, but smaller vehicles may scrape.
Very homey and comfortable for the four of us. Grandma was on the ground floor with her own bathroom and walk-in shower. Kitchen had everything we needed. Loved watching the birds, boats and barges along the river from the comfort of the family room.
