Beautiful, spacious villa with solar pool & games room

Large well-appointed villa in rolling hills, set in 4 acres looking south west down a valley studded with carob and olive trees, carpeted with wild flowers in Spring. This wonderfully peaceful location is only 7km from some of the finest beaches in the Algarve, close to the lovely towns of Castro Marim (5km) and Vila Real (7km). Spain is 10 mins by car and Seville 90 minutes.The glorious River Guadiana and its valley is close by and a drive north takes you to the small towns, vineyards & cork oaks of the Alentejo. Monte Gordo with its lively nightlife and casino is on the nearby coast.
The villa is very well situated for those wishing to explore; or you may prefer to laze by the solar heated pool, re-tiled with new lights winter 2020/21, and to soak up the views from the various terraces, or shaded decking area where the main BBQ is placed. It is surrounded by open countryside, and is well distanced from other properties and people, perhaps relevant during Covid concerns.
The salt marshes around Castro Marim are renowned for birdwatching. As for golf, the closest courses, in order of expense, are Castro Marim, (5km),with 27 holes, Quinta do Vale, designed by Seve Ballasteros, (7km), and Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus, (8km). Others within a 30 minute drive include Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima and Benamor. There are several more over the border in Spain.

We enjoyed a lovely week at the villa. It was well appointed and clean with lots of space for 6 of us. The pool, views and games room were particular highlights. Castro Marim is only minutes away. Seville is only 90mins drive for a day trip. The location is remote but peaceful, note a car is needed.

Very nice villa and pool

Quiet surroundings and no other tourists. Nice settings very good pool, but hot very hot weather. Comfortable house. After sunset lots of mosquitos so the warm nights had to be enjoyed inside - a bit dissappointing.

We all enjoyed our holiday at the villa. It's spacious with good facilities; the pool is lovely and the games room is a useful retreat for teenagers. We had a quick response from Louis when the power failed and the local shops, etc. are easily accessible. A car is essential.

Beautiful location, super quiet

We wanted somewhere quiet with a large pool - this met the brief perfectly. We had a few minor issues which were resolved quickly and efficiently by Luis, who is brilliant. Rooms were comfortable, and aircon everywhere made for a very pleasant stay.

Nice choice for a family who is looking for an off-the-bitten-track place to relax and recharge batteries. Plenty of space, a nice welcoming food & drinks basket so you don't have to rush to supermarket to get the basics.

Our 3rd stay which says it all really. Lovely villa in peaceful location without being remote. Pity abouf the weather for this trip but the games room came in very handy. Well equipped with quality items. Not the normal rental basic equipment. Hope to repeat next year !

Wonderful stay at Quinta da Lavanda

Quinta da Lavanda is a well preserved, comfortable and well equipped villa near Castro Marim and its beaches. We enjoyed particularly the terrace with the view, where we had our daily breakfast and lunches. Table tennis and foosball were a plus and we used it intensively during our stay :-) Last but not the least, there is a heated pool we couldn't resist to use even during the hot evenings! We hope to return again to Quinta da Lavanda next time we go to Castro Marim.

Wonderful property

We had a brilliant two weeks in this villa. Everything worked really well. The solar heated pool was incredible and we could enjoy it for hours on end as it was so warm. The large games room was fabulous for the kids. We enjoyed all the various terraces and outdoor spaces and the property has been designed really well to ensure there is always opportunity to sunbathe or enjoy the cooler shade. The property agent (Luis) was helpful too. The local beaches are just stunning with gorgeous soft sand. And the local supermarkets stock all you need. I highly recommend this villa.

It was a wonderful week

This is a lovely villa with amazing views and in a very quiet area. We are three generations who spent a wonderful week here. The villa is extremely well equipped and everything was as described. Luis met us on arrival and showed us round and was very helpful. It was very hot during our stay and, apart from a couple of trips to the beach, we were all happy to spend most of our time round the pool. We also went to a festival at Castro Marim one evening which everyone enjoyed. We would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet break.

Solitude

A beautiful villa not too difficult to find initially but once you arrive all your cares disappear. A lovely pool nice clean and warm (although it could do with a pool cover to keep the heat in overnight) A games room below with table tennis, pool table, tv and kitchen wonderful idea with access directly out to the pool. A home in the countryside for a peaceful time and not too far from the beach (15/20 mins) with plenty of supermarkets along the way if you want something on your return from a day on the beach much better than I first envisaged Good shaded areas out of the sun or breeze if required Many thanks for a memorable stay. Please give thanks to Luis for meeting us after a late arrival following an airport delay he was most helpful and always available should we have required his services.

Excellent location and property

House is as described. The pictures do not do it justice. The rooms appear dark and make the furniture seem old. In reality, the rooms are very bright and the furniture is of very good quality. Unlike other villas, no expense was spared when buying settees that are not saggy and extremely clean. The kitchen appliances are also of good quality, mainly Bosch, and there is enough cutlery and crockery for a battalion. There is a second fridge / freezer in the games room and a second cooker, that we did not use. The pool is fantastic. We used it at the beginning of the season when the temperatures dipped at night and it was still quite warm. The views are stunning. Some people moaned about dogs. We could only hear them at around 7pm for no more than 5 minutes. We were far more impressed by the calling of partridges that we could spot around. Good quality bedsheets and towels, bed was a little soft but this is not a criticism, just a matter of preference. Although there were only 2 of us, lots of towels were provided and ALL bathrooms and bedrooms were ready for guests. There were lots of pans and pots, the barbecue was close to the pool. Luis, the property manager is a very nice man. Nothing is too much for him. He sorts out everything and he is a fountain of knowledge. He would come whenever needed and he will check that everything is in order, that customers are happy and do not need anything. The welcome pack was also a nice gesture. Will definitely come back.

Fantastic Holiday!

We recently returned from a fantastic 2 & a half week stay at this property & would recommend it to anyone. We are a family of 5 with 3 young children & were also joined by parents & a niece while we were there making 8 of us for just over a week of our stay. The villa has ample room & we made good use of the downstairs playroom with the table tennis & table football not to mention the extra tv & dvd player which the kids used daily. This room also has a fridge freezer which was great for storing all our much needed cold drinks! The kitchen has everything you need & a coffee maker which was used on a daily basis. All rooms had air conditioning which during out stay (July into August) was a welcome relief from the heat of the day, we all slept with it on. There are several balconies / terraces to choose from, the main one being off the upstairs living room where we ate lunch most days. With 3 small children the washing machine was very handy & when put out on the rotary dryer in the garden it was dry within an hour thanks to the sun. Pool towels are provided which we didn't realise but could save you space in your suitcase if you are staying here, that was a good touch. The pool itself is huge & was the main focus of our holiday, with the heating it also stayed warm later on in the day until 7/8pm which is great if you like a later swim. Kids loved the pool as did the adults. Plenty of loungers too. We left a few inflatables for the next visitors as we had far too many to bring home. Take some mozzie spray as we got bitten sitting outside at night on the first few days, we used a lot but still got caught out. The drive leading up to the house is quite steep at the end & as it's mainly gravel so you need to put your foot down to get enough speed to get to the top. We shopped in Castro Marim & Vila Real de San Antonio where there are good supermarket choices. We visited Altura beach which was lovely, took the ferry over to Ayamonte in Spain & also had a kid free trip to Seville when parents were with us so it's a great base to explore from - only 45 mins drive from Faro. Luis was there to meet us & very friendly too, couldn't do enough to help & also recommended a few things, thanks Luis! The welcome pack at the villa was a good touch too! We would go back to this villa in a heartbeat, it had everything we were looking for & the views of the hills from the terraces & poolside are amazing. Thanks - we will be back!!!

L'endroit est paisible avec une belle vue bien dégagée sans vis à vis. La maison est propre et la literie de bonne qualité. L'espace piscine coin repas est très agréable ainsi que le banc en bois au dessus de l'espace barbecue ou la vue est imprenable. Coté praticité, la cuisine est un peu loin de l'espace barbecue. Le mobilier de piscine devrait être remplacé et la majorité des volets a besoin d'un entretien sérieux pour être en mesure des les ouvrir et fermer, mais tout ça n'entame pas le charme de la villa.Un super séjour
