- GolfSet in the Castro Marim Golf and Country Club overlooking the fairways of the Guadiana course, the villa is ideally situated for a golfing holiday. The complex provides 3 x 9 hole courses - the Atlantic, Guadiana and Grouse courses, which can be played in different combinations. There are two driving ranges near the Clubhouse, one for woods and the other for warming up with short irons. The short game practice area includes a putting green and chipping area with flags and bunkers. Guests can benefit from a 30% discount on golf fees at Castro Marim and 10% discount on buggy rental. Nearby (less than 5 minutes) is a Seve Ballesteros signature course (Quinta do Vale), a fantastic course with stunning views. Additionally the signature Jack Nicklaus course (Monte Rei) and many other of the top rated courses in the Algarve all within 20-30 mins drive (including some over the bridge in the Costa da Luz (Spain) . 1 set of clubs is included in villa hire.

- Notes on accommodation: Air conditioning/heating in all bedrooms and living area. Suitable for children, travel cot available at no extra cost, extra bed/s available. Master bedroom can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children Outside: The private terrace is located to the rear of the property with access from both the lounge area and bedroom 2. There is a private 8mx4m swimming pool. The terrace is equipped with wooden patio furniture - full size dining table with parasol, 6 chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ. There is also an outdoor shower. There is a lockable gate from the outdoor dining area to the pool to ensure the safety of younger children. Where children are concerned it is important to ensure they are supervised while using the pool. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, mop, bucket, brush, dustpan, outdoor clothes line, lockable storage cupboards for golf clubs, pram/buggy Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bed linen are provided. Maid service, cleaning, change of towels and bed linen is carried out weekly. Additional cleaning can be organised on request. Other: The villa is fully air conditioned with WIFI access throughout. There are insect screens and shutters on all windows.

Short relaxing golf break for myself and spouse

Second visit to Tom's villa at Castro Marim .
Wonderfully quiet area of Portugal away from the usual tourist haunts.
Easy drive from Faro, toured round the area and the drive along the riverside to Alcoutim is spectacular.
The Villa itself is clean, well equiped, everything we needed was there. The pool area has new loungers, a gas bbq and a charcoal bbq with a great variety of fresh produce in the local supermarkets.
This is a great location, and we hope to be back in the near future.

Fantastic Villa and Pool
Stayed here for a week with our 4 kids we loved every minute if it. It was spotlessly clean really spacious and what a fantastic swimming pool. Great kids club with more swimming pools and great food at both kids club area and at clubhouse. Will definitely be recommending this villa to family and friends and host manager was very helpful if we had any questions prior to our stay so overall would recommend.

Fantastic Family Holiday
Fantastic stay. Lovely quiet location. Villa a fantastic size and very well equipped. Visited the communal pool and kids had a fantastic time. Plenty of sun loungers for you to relax and keep an eye of the kids to. Fantastic sandy beaches within a 20 minute drive. Could not ask for more.

Coast/Beach:
The area has wonderful beaches and is great for wind surfing and sailing. Castro marim has it's own beach side restaurant at Monte Gordo, a 7 minute drive away. There is a bus service from the main resort should you not feel like driving. This is a wonderfully unspoilt, sandy beach, perfect for soaking up the sun, swimming or walking. It is also great for family fun as there is plenty space for children to play as it is the longest beach in the Algarve at 12km.
Travel:
Faro airport is 40 minutes drive from Castro Marim. Faro has a flight time of under 2 hours from most UK airports. Flight time from Ireland is approx. 2.5 hours. Seville airport is 75 minutes drive away and again flights operate from most UK and Irish airports. Nearest train station is 3 miles at Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Train also run from Faro to Lisbon, allowing an overnight stay or a day trip to this beautiful city.
Distances:
The historical Moorish Castle of Castro Marim is only 5 mins away. Vila Real de Santo Antonio, with the beautiful plaza and marina, is 10 mins drive. Monte Gordo, 10 mins drive, has a thriving nightlife with a major casino and excellent restaurants and bars. Tavira, the oldest town on the Algarve, has many old buildings of historical importance and is 20 mins away. The ancient Moorish town of Seville is 75 mins away across the Spanish border.

The nearest village Monte Francisco is just 2 minutes drive away. A wider selection of shops, including supermarkets (LIDL,Pingo Doce ) bars and restaurants can be found at Vila Real de San Antonio.
There’s plenty to do in the local area, like walking ,bird watching in the nearby Sapal nature reserve, you can play tennis (discounted rates for Castro Marim guests at the tennis club in Vila Real de Santa Antonio), go horse riding, biking, sailing and windsurfing. The ‘Via Algarviana' – the Algarve Way’ is a fully marked long distance walking route between Alcoutim on the Spanish border and Cape St. Vincent (the most south-westerly point in Europe). it is possible to walk or cycle a section of the way close to Castro Marim. Bicycles can be hired from reception. Go karting is available in Almancil.The resort has its own gym which you can use for free. The area has wonderful beaches, great for swimming,wind surfing and sailing. There are many boat trips to go on - either along the coast or up the Guadiana River which divides Portugal and Spain.
Days out with children - Zoomarine near Albufeira, Zoomarine is an oceanographic park where there’s a unique opportunity to see dolphins, seals, sharks, turtles, exotic birds and waterfowl, alligators, tropical fish, as well as to have fun in several pools and water attractions, and also see some educational animal shows. Aquashow near Quarteira is home to the biggest water roller coaster in Europe and also features many more water based attractions. Lagos Zoo, where there are more than 120 species of animals and 200 plant species originating from all of the five continents.
