It was a lovely guesthouse in historic Tavira, close to Ilha Tavira ferry and restaurants and bars. It was quite hot while we stayed there so it was great there was air conditioner, otherwise would have been stifling. The stairs are open tread and winding, ok for us but would be a problem for anyone with access issues
Fabulous house, but if you have young children, elderly, unsure on your feet or have a larger frame you might have a problem with the spiral staircase which is very narrow and steep, also the bathroom is very small., but otherwise very nice property.
All in all it was a very pleasant stay.
The house is beautiful, the neigbourhood is calm and friendly. Only mind the very narrow stairs if you travel with big suitcases ;)
We had a great time in Tavira by this lovely town house. All was very clean and well equipped- we enjoyed having breakfast outside. Ann was quick in answering and prepared all information. We would definitely come back and recommend this place!!!
Ann is amazing as a host. The property was clean and as advertised, within easy walking distance of the town. Free parking was available within a few minutes walk.
This was perfect for a short break - we even made Christmas dinner here
Very kind owner. Location was nice. Loved having a washing machine.

The property is exactly as advertised, with wonderful amenities. (Four ways to make coffee, hurrah!) Lovely space that we will rent again. The host's description about the stairs is accurate, we (in our 60's) handled them well, but that must be taken into account. The location and property WERE PERFECT for a visit to Tavira! We will rent again.
Myself and my sister thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tavira and our accommodation. It was so centrally located we could walk to everything. Especially to a lovely coffee and cake shop around the corner. When we got there the place felt a bit cold but Ann replied quickly and we got the heating up and running quickly. It was nice and cosy. We were a bit nervous of the spiral staircase but got used to it quickly. Overall we had a great experience. We’ve already recommended Tavira to others and Ann’s accommodation.
We were four adults in Tavira this Easter.
The house is super well located close to the center, yet in a quiet area.
The house is very clean and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need.
The stairs to the other floors are very narrow (55 cm.), and the bath/toilet is not large. Still, we had a lovely holiday and could easily come back.
The townhouse is located on a quiet street within a 2 min. walk to the centre square, the waterfront and numerous restaurants. The neighbourhood feels very safe.
The townhouse is clean with a home like feeling. The kitchen is very well appointed, we made breakfast every morning. There is a supermarket nearby.
The air conditioning units worked very well at keeping the place cool during the heat.
There is a very small spiral staircase that leads up to the bedrooms. We had no issue with stairs but this may be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. The beds were decent, excellent closet space to hang/fold your clothes.
Ann, the property owner was very easy to reach and replied back to questions promptly. She also provided suggestions on what to see and do and where to eat while visiting beautiful Tavira. I would recommend this property.
This was a nice stay in Tavira. The communication was very excellent and check in was easy. The location was good and a short walk to many restaurants, the marina and bus station.
The stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and difficult with luggage but we had teens so not a problem for us, but it would be for many travelers. The bathroom is very tiny but it works, just need to time out showers if traveling with several people. The kitchen was well stocked and ready for cooking although we didn’t do any. Some of the dishes were a little dirty, likely from past visitors not cleaning as well.
Overall this was a clean decent place to stay if you make Tavira your home base in the Algarve. We found Ubers to be easy to use to get to other areas, but it is a fair distance so we may choose to be more mid region if we ever see Portugal again. But Tavira is very quaint and keeps its old style better than most of the other towns!
The facilities in the house are good. There are five sleeping places on good mattresses. The bathroom is tiny at around 1.2 square meters, but offers everything you need. However, people over 1.90 have problems with the knee space in front of the toilet. The spiral staircase to the upper floors is very narrow with narrow steps. Nothing for old people, children, people with walking difficulties or obese people. The kitchen is well equipped. The market hall can be reached in five minutes and offers high-quality vegetables, meat and fish six days a week. There is a small supermarket two minutes' walk around the corner.
The terrace is bordered with flower pots. In front of it there is a well-used parking lot, with entrances to other houses around it. The location of the house is quiet, the harbor, the city center and many tourist attractions can be reached on foot in five to ten minutes.
We were very pleased with the welcome from the landlady.
Just a lovely property in the middle of Tavira. The location is perfect. It is close to everything. The house is tiny but lovely. we adjusted to it. We had a couple of wonderful dinners outside. The neighborhood is super quiet during the day and at night too.
Thank you.
We had a lovely time. House was compact. But adequate. Shower room was small.

Excellent restored town house in central location
Our party (4 of us) stayed in early September, so weather still hot. The house is immaculately presented with a very well equipped kitchen, air conditioning that is fully functional and three comfortable bedrooms, one of them in the roof. The bathroom is small, but we managed well enough. A very stout person might struggle a little in it with the door closed. Plenty of towels and bedding are provided and the owner kindly left us a bottle of wine and some beer for when we arrived.
Location is picturesque, down a side road with trees and traditional tile fronted buildings - very peaceful. Vasvi the caretaker was very helpful. He lives very near by and will pick up from the airport on request. He helped sort out a blocked drain outside the house without delay.
The river front is a very short walk away with its excellent restaurants, cafes and ferry terminal for the beach island and river taxis.
All in all, I can highly recommend it.

Perfectly located! Nice place to stay!
We enjoyed very much our stay in this nice house. It is perfectly located - small restaurants, shops and the ferry to the beach are all very close by the house. The house itself is clean, has three nice bedrooms, only the bathroom is very tiny. But we got along with it very well. Would love to come back in future.

About the host

We've been living near Tavira for many years, both retired architects. We owned a little house in the country near Tavira which rented for holiday lets. We fell in love with this little town house, Casa Branca, and its 'downtown' location, uniquely located in this little tree'd square, and are using it for our family and friends, and for holiday rentals.
Why they chose this property
Excellent Location, refurbished to a high standard, in a very charming and friendly neighbourhood. We love Tavira which is quite unique, little changed over the past 25 years since we have known it, and the perfect place to unwind and relax,
What makes this property unique
Location - the little square with orange trees, very peaceful and safe, close to shops, bars and restaurants, the River, and great summer events in the Praca Republica, and various churches. Beaches - Pristine Blue flag beaches, Ria Formosa lagoon, with its unique vegetation and birdlife. Culture - summer music and dance festivals, markets, art and exhibitions. Food and Drink. Famous for its mediterranean diet of local fish locally sourced fruit, vegetables, olive oil, and wine. Good restaurants very reasonably priced. Come and enjoy a gourmet break.
