The most famous beach in Cartagena de Indias is Bocagrande, located on the peninsula to the south of the historic district.
The beach has golden sand and there are plenty of hotels for convenient accommodation for all tastes.
The Bocagrande neighborhood is full of restaurants and bars and the very busy Avenida San Martin. At the end of Bocagrande is El Laguito, which starts at the famous Hotel Caribe and ends on a piece of land besides the bay known as Castillogrande, which holds the Santa Cruz fort, today in ruins. Just to the side of the bay, people can take a path that goes along the beach and which is often used for walks.
