This house is very charming and well kept. Heather was always in communication and helpful when we had questions. All the rooms were large, family room was great and couch was beyond comfortable!

EXCELLENT!!
Great property, clean, neat and very well maintained, Heather was immediately responsive to all of our requests and excellent to work with! We will stay there again!
Good location, garage was great to have for the sleds. Short ride down the road to the trailhead. Only a few minutes from downtown Houghton and the bridge. Overall a great spot for riding. Huge driveway was a plus for my large trailer.

Very nice house in a good location for snowmobiling
House was clean, beds were nice, kitchen was well equipped, and living room was nicely furnished. Driveway was cleared so that we could easily maneuver truck and trailer to load and unload snowmobile. I would definitely go back.

Keweenaws Finest Accomodation
The house was perfect for 3 couples. Extremely well appointed. The location is within 2 miles of the trails and riding along the road to the trails was never a problem. The view out to the canal was awesome and I am betting spending mornings and evenings on the big deck enjoying your morning coffee or evening brew would be fantastic.

Excellent!
The parents and young people who are part of our high school cross country ski team stayed here for the weekend, while participating in the Michigan Tech high school meet.
It was well appointed, convenient and comfortable, and everyone felt it worked well.
Thank you!
House was very nice and clean. The property owner made our stay as comfortable as possible. We rode snowmobiles rite from the house and had about 1 mile of road shoulder to the trail. There was just enough snow for us to ride shoulder. House was perfect for our snowmobile trip and would stay again.
Thanks Heather!

Decent place to stay
The stay itself was great. We had a couple issues, one with the outdoor fire pit, I had requested wood, so we could have a fire and the property manager was concerned about fire danger, when we arrived the wood was there but the fire pit had weeds 2 feet tall all the way around it. I notified her immediately and she said she would have it cleaned up so we could have a fire the second night of our stay, this was never done…so we never had a fire but we were expected to pay for the wood…which we did not. Hopefully they got the deck fixed also…

The firewood was preordered and delivered to the bonfire pit. When the wood was delivered a few days prior to the stay, the lawn and weeds were taken care of then. I’m not sure why there was an issue. Also the deck had a rotten board and was being address by maintenance but was not fixed during their stay.

Misleading
The property does not live up to expected VRBO standards. We found the listing misleading. The listing should clearly state that there is NO cable or internet, there are NO toiletries (bathroom soap, shampoo, simple things for sure but missed when not there) and there is a tenant living downstairs. Also we found it odd that throughout the unit (living room, dining room, bedroom) crafts were displayed for sale with a box clearly marked for payment. Lastly there was a long list of what the travelers couldn't do and what we needed to do upon leaving but not a word of welcome or a list of things to see or places to eat. Little things make a difference and leave an impression, unfortunately ours was not a good one.

So sorry to hear of this. I have my phone number listed everywhere to call me anytime if you have questions etc. It is clearly marked to check for wifi cable availability and that there is a tenant intermittent in the private studio. Shampoo etc is listed as not provided as well.
There are lots of welcome signs, but a list of friendly reminders what to do upon leaving.
The crafts that are displayed are art work for sale to help support some local kids. No harm done there. No pressure to buy them.
Completely Inaccurate Description, Dirty and NOT Secure
The living room is very cozy & decorated nicely. There is a TV but there is no cable, no satellite or local channels available. It is not a smart TV. There is a DVD/VCR available but only a handful of children's VHS tapes and fishing bloopers. We only found 1 game and no books.
It says there is WiFi & when we arrived there was a WiFi password written on a board but it was not correct for any available networks. When I asked about this she said there is no WiFi. This was a big problem for us, as my husband had to work remotely while we were there.
There is a tenant occupying the space next to the garage. She said he was harldy ever there which was not true. His unit has access to the laundry area which provides him access to the unit you are in, because other than the garage door, the doors in your unit do not lock when you are away. You can lock his door from your side so I asked the owner about it as soon as we checked in but she did not respond so we locked it. The next day or so he made us unlock it to do his laundry and I texted the owner regarding and it took awhile for her to respond, by this time we were gone and he had access to our stuff.
Cleanliness and toiletry items were lacking. We found mouse poop in a cupboard and 2 drawers under the sink. The towels are rough and old, some were fraying and falling apart, no hand towels, very few washcloths, hardly any tp or hand soap and the cold water did not work in the master bathroom and 1 room had dirt in the sheets.

Really should advertise appropriately
The house was clean and in decent location from town. However, just a little under 4 weeks before our booking we had to call Heather to ask where our contract was since we heard nothing yet from her. About 2 weeks before we were to arrive we received the contract and it mentioned renting of the tree house and the studio below the house. This was never told to us and was not even mentioned in her advertisement for her rental. We have 2 young kids and were planning on staying a week. The solitude and the tree house were part of the decision making in renting this place. When we called Heather, she apologized and said she would make it so no one else could book the tree house or the studio.. although she did inform us that the studio was rented for at least one of the nights we were there. It was too late at this point to look for other rentals since we were 2 weeks away. When we arrived we found that there was no cable. The advertisement stated had TV, never stated that there was NO cable. As most places you pay for what we paid for normally you have at least cable, and the advertisement of TV can be misleading. We didn't know we would need to rent videos and NO TV until we arrived. We also asked if there was a tub to give baths in as that wasn't clear on advertisement, and it did have a bath tub. However, the caster or whatever it you call it was chipping away and the tub's plug did not hold water. My husband was in contact with Heather when we were there about the TV and shared he felt this was another misleading advertisement. My husband was just letting her and he has a right too especially for what we paid and we felt we had already been mislead with not knowing there was a studio and a tree house that was to be rented. Heather became unprofessional with us and stated that we could just leave her place, but we had not place to go. While we were there the tree house was rented out 2 nights and same with the studio. Heather had lied about her blocking that or she was upset that we were upset and unblocked it to rent out to show us she had the upper hand. Either way, we will never rent form her nor will we recommend her. Some of the locals were not surprised when we shared our experience with them. In the 10 years of traveling to UP to visit my husband's family there, that was our worst experience renting ever. And it all has to do with misleading advertisement to make a buck.

As she stated in her review, her husband called me 4 wks before their reservation with numerous questions which I answered then. Also during this initial call I sent him the rental contract to review and sign and send back in which they did immediately. The rental agreement states that the tree house and studio "might be" rented out during your stay. To sum this all up if they would have read the rental agreement/listing before signing and sending back to me I don't think there would be any issues.
For the tub, it is a refurbished claw foot tub, it has one scuff mark on the bottom due to wear and tear, but there is a nice soft bath mat that is new covering the bottom, the drain works perfectly fine, if for some reason they didn't know how to plug a drain I wish they would have asked me during their stay. They seemed to ask every other question under the sun that was already stated in the listing and the rental agreement. I apologized as it's good customer service but as the home owner I would not recommend them as guests.
Basically, her husband made the booking reservation, he didn't read over the listing or the rental agreement. My guess is when they arrived the wife was not happy, so in turn he constantly complained and I accommodated patiently and rapidly. THEN HE STARTED THREATENING ME, and that is when I clearly stated this is my home if you are not happy with it you can leave and I will happily find you another place to go. There was no lack of professionalism. In regards to the girl who had the studio rented out, I told Darin the husband that this was the case and he was fine with it at the time of our phone call. She reserved on another site and she paid for a two night stay and changed her reservation to the night before, last minute.
It clearly states in the description that is listed and in addition to the rental agreement that there are tvs, but no wifi or cable is guaranteed to please inquire for time if your stay.
We stayed here while we went atving for 4 nights. Lots of room, nice house with huge deck and room for 2 trailers to park. No TV, internet, grill, coffee filters or cookie sheets just an FYI. But we brought our own grill so it wasn't a big deal. The beds are a little worn, but we would definitely stay here again! Thanks Heather!

Snowmobiliers caution
So to be fair we enjoyed the house its roomy and clean garage was nice for keeping snowmobiles inside however to get to the trail its like 2-3 mile ride down a very busy road and the other problem we had was no tv or internet thank goodness we were able to go to walmart buy a rokue and hotspot from our phones all in all nice place but wont stay again because of location to the trail
Loved the spaciousness! Huge comfy couch was excellent. Big tub for soaking was fantastic after skiing! List of amenities advertised includes wifi - there is no wifi or TV. Not a problem for us, but others should be aware. Bed was very soft, towels not so much, but the gas fireplace more than made up for those little things. Loved it!

Entry
One thing I didn’t care for was the form of entry into house wish it would have had a door instead of having to open garage door every time to go into the house
Not what was advertised - No internet No Television
We were in town and need to work remotely. The advertisement stated Internet and Television. We had neither internet or television for 10 days. Contacted the owner as soon as we moved in and not a word of response for days. Then she told us 1/2 through our stay that she would get the internet router from the unit below that she also owned, again no response. We left with no communication from the owner. The lack of customer service and the fact that she changed the advertisement after I confronted her was enough for us to give her a 1 star, no matter what we felt about anything else. I saw notes (multiple) from prior tenants who complained about the lack of television and internet, but it was a major inconvenience for us to find someplace else to work the entire time we were in town. The owner was not responding to calls, texts or emails, unlike her ad says that she lived in town and would be available the entire time we were there - that was not true at all. If you don't care about the internet, give the place a try, it was roomy.

As stated on my listing cable/internet need to check with owner as usually it is available but sometimes it is not due to the lack of renters at the home. This was stated in the listing when booked. There was communication right away as I apologized for the inconvenience.
