About this property
Bootjack Lake House: Private Lakefront in the Heart of the Keweenaw
This charming three-bedroom, two-bathroom home comfortably sleeps up to six guests, offering the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure in Michigan's stunning Upper Peninsula, no matter the season.
This private retreat sits on the shores of Portage Lake, with a view that includes a special touch of nature. Our property offers direct, stunning sunset views over the water, providing the perfect end to your day. Keep an eye on the nearby trees, as a pair of nesting eagles often makes an appearance, along with sightings of otters, herons, and cormorants. The property offers a fantastic opportunity for viewing the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). While sightings are never guaranteed, keep an eye on the sky on a clear night.
Private lakefront access offers a beautiful view, and shallow entry swimming is enjoyable May-October. The outdoor propane firepit is situated on the covered front deck, making it useable rain or shine. An indoor propane fireplace offers the perfect spot to cozy up on cold winter evenings.
Trail access is a breeze from our property. In the winter, you can head out on your snowmobile by crossing the quiet road directly in front of the house to reach the private trail on our property that connects to the main network. The snowmobile trail connected to our property typically opens in early January and remains open through late March.
When it’s time to hit the slopes, both Mont Ripley and Mount Bohemia are within easy driving distance for downhill skiing adventures.
Beyond the immediate property, you'll find yourself perfectly situated to explore the Keweenaw. A short drive will bring you to the beautiful White City, with its stunning white sand beach along the shores of Lake Superior. Explore the rich history of this unique region, with its charming towns showcasing well-preserved architecture and fascinating mining heritage. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Keweenaw offers numerous hiking trails with breathtaking views of forests, waterfalls, and Lake Superior.
Dreamland Restaurant is conveniently located just about a mile away, offering a popular dining option. Whether you're seeking summer lake adventures on Portage Lake, exploring scenic hiking trails, winter excursions on the trails and slopes, or delving into the unique history and natural beauty of the Keweenaw, this Bootjack gem provides the perfect home base for your Upper Peninsula getaway.
