This house is absolutely amazing!! My husband and I stayed here for a week. It is nice and big and SO clean. The views are stunning. I woke up each morning with my coffee and gorgeous, breathtaking views of the water. I would stay here over and over. This house is amazing!
July 2025- Great location with all the amenities of home. Host was great in quickly responding to questions. We traveled all over the area to come home to relax in the evening on the quiet back porch looking at the river.
This home was a pleasure to stay in. Right off the snowmobile trail, beds were comfortable and the home exceeded our expectations. We will stay here again!
The house was just what we needed for our visit to MTU. It was clean and roomy…While there we got a bit of snow overnight, the roads were plowed the next morning. We had lots of fun on our long weekend. Thanks for sharing your house with us!
The house was very accommodating and spacious well maintained.
Very easy to find. Location is great to accommodate all the local areas.
I would highly recommend this to other friends.
We stayed here to visit our MTU student and the location was fantastic. We loved the fall colors all around us! The property is spacious, clean and has everything we needed. We definitely want to stay here again.
The home was quite nice with a great yard and right on Portage lake. Nice location for venturing into Houghton/Hancock as well as hiking to waterfalls and hitting the State Park beach.
Loved the location, close to town, shopping and being on the Portage Canal was amazing, watching all the water activities. Accommodations had everything you need.
We have booked next year as well.
My husband and I drove up from Battle Creek, MI to visit our son - Dec. 2019 MTU graduate who is working remotely and living in Houghton. The property was simply beautiful. Very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of space indoors and outdoors. The covered patio, yard space and waterfront was simply beautiful.
Directions to access house were perfect. The hot tub was a delight to use and the location was very close to both Hancock and Houghton. We shopped downtown Houghton, had drinks at KBC Brewery and dinner at the Ambassador (great pizza) and the Saturday night dined at Bonfire (Continental Fire Co) and listened to a great duo - Kathy and John - we stayed for all 3 sets - they were GREAT!
Visited Copper Harbor and loved hiking Hunter's Point - goes along Lake Superior. This is our son's 6th year in Houghton so we've seen/visited a lot of the area but its always nice to see and eat somewhere new. Stopped at the Gay Bar in Gay, Michigan on the drive back.
Suggestion/wishes:
- The weather was perfect during our visit and it would have been nice to have a couple kayaks available at/near the house to put in.
- I felt bad throwing away pop/beer cans but didn't want to bring them home or run to store with returnable - might be nice to have a can in garage to leave them for you to donate to school program, etc.
We would definitely return, thank you for sharing your home!
The property is very conveniently located and the size was perfect for our family's stay. We loved that we had access to the garage for parking. Kim was quick to respond with our questions, and we will definitely stay again when in the area.
The place is amazing. Very clean and spacious. Location to Houghton and the Keewenaw is perfect. We had five adults so the three bedrooms were perfect. Open kitchen/dining/living room space is perfect for being together. The outdoor patio and lawn on the water is wonderful. Loved the hot tub. This was our second time staying there and we hope to return again! Thank you for sharing your space with us!
This is a beautiful home! The lake view is stunning. Great for our adult family of 6 with plenty of extra room. Perfect location between Hancock and Dollar Bay.
Kim was an excellent host and her response time to all communications was super fast.
We stayed while moving our son into his MTU apartment. This property was very spacious, comfortable and in a great location. Quiet area. Fully stocked. It literally had everything we needed. We made use of the grill and patio and enjoyed the view of the canal. The owner was very responsive to questions. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again.
We were all very impressed by this property! The pictures honestly don’t do the property, especially the outdoors, justice. It was spectacular! Large back patio with nice furniture, a grill, and hot tub. The yard is large and well maintained. And the views are stunning! We will definitely check here first if we return to the area!
