About this property
Stunning 4 Season New Beach House - Big Traverse Bay on Lake Superior!
Located on the East side of the Keweenaw Peninsula in beautiful Big Traverse Bay. This property has one of the most beautiful sugar sand beaches in the area. This new custom built two story home with a full basement (built in 2023) has a deep all sand beach. In the summer months enjoy swimming in the warm shallow water of the bay, kayaking, sunbathing, blueberry picking on the property or just relaxing on the beach. (Two paddle boards, a paddle boat, two kayaks, sun umbrellas, and a variety of life jackets are on site for our guests) If you tire of the beach, you can explore the area on ATV’s by getting on the trail system not far from the house. (There is plenty of parking for ATV’s and snowmobile trailers in the homeowner’s parking lot across the street) You can also explore the local area and visit the Keweenaw National Historic Park, Brockway Mountain Drive, Mount Bohemia, Delaware Mine, Douglass Houghton Falls, or Copper Harbor, to name a few of the many local attractions.
In the winter guests can enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the woods surrounding the property. Snowmobilers can find the groomed snowmobile trail nearby which will take you throughout Keweenaw and Houghton Counties or anywhere in the Upper Peninsula. If downhill skiing is your thing, Mount Bohemia or Mount Ripley are both within a 30 minute drive from the house. You can relax in the evenings in this comfortable and cozy beach house and take in the beauty of winter on the shores of Lake Superior. The home has in-floor heat throughout to keep you toasty warm during the cold winter months. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the northern lights during your stay.
The exterior of the home has large cedar decks on the East, South, and West sides. You can enjoy the sunrises on the extra large front East/lakeside deck and take in the sunsets on the rear West/roadside deck. Both the South and West decks offer a bird’s eye view of the wetlands area which is a bird watcher’s paradise, with frequent sightings of ducks, loons, geese, sand hill cranes, bald eagles and more.
You will enter the home from the main floor roadside entrance. The main floor has a laundry room with a full size washer and dryer and laundry folding table, as well as a large master bedroom and a spare bedroom on either side of the entry hallway. Both of these comfortable bedrooms have great natural lighting, wall mounted TV’s, luxurious bedding, and beautiful views. The master has a large walk-in closet. The main floor bathroom can be accessed through the master bedroom or hallway and is equipped with a handicapped shower. You then enter the great room, kitchen, and dining area. This space has a 22 foot cathedral ceiling with two large ceiling fans. The living room has a comfy sectional sofa, large TV, coffee table with storage (filled with games and puzzles), and a separate reading area with a custom bookcase filled with a variety of books. There is a desk/work station in the great room if you have to work from home. The gourmet kitchen has a large butcher block island which seats four and is great for casual dining or as a food prep area. The kitchen has a gas range, fully vented hood, quartz countertops, farm sink, under cabinet lighting, ample cabinet and storage space, and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware, bakeware, chef’s knives, plates, glasses, silverware, serving platters and bowls and anything else you may need during your stay. The dining area seats six and is beside a coffee and tea bar. You can enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail while listening to the waves and watching the calming waters of Lake Superior.
You will access the loft sleeping area and lounge by using the staircase in the great room. The lounge area at the top of the stairs is the perfect spot to build a puzzle, play a game, or work from home. Bedrooms, loft sleeping area, lounge, and great room all have ethernet jacks. There is also Wifi coverage throughout the entire house. High speed internet connection is provided by Starlink with a 200 Mbps download and a 20 Mbps upload. The sleeping area has two queen beds, a closet and bathroom with a double vanity and handicapped shower. The view from the loft is amazing!
The home was completed in November of 2023 and features all new mattresses, pillows, bedding, towels, window coverings, appliances, cookware, dinnerware, bakeware, glassware, and silverware. The entire home has been tastefully decorated in a nautical/beachy theme by the homeowner. A game room and half bath are now open in the lower/basement level which kids and adults will both enjoy. 6/25 We added an outdoor solar heated shower right off of the lakeside deck. You can wash off the sand before entering the house. 7/4/25 Sauna with shower and attached bathroom. You can enjoy a hot relaxing sauna before jumping into Lake Superior !

About the host
Hosted by Ann

My husband and I have lived and worked in the Copper Country for most of our lives. We purchased this property in 2017 and built our dream home in this beautiful sandy bay on the East side of the Keweenaw Peninsula in 2023. Until we retire and make this home our permanent residence, we would like to share this lakeside haven with our guests. We hope you share our love for this spectacular property and come back year after year for your family vacation or romantic getaway!
Why they chose this property
We love the beautiful and tranquil beach and the abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area. Blueberry picking in the summer, swimming, paddle boarding and relaxing on the beach are some of our favorite activities.
What makes this property unique
The home has large spacious rooms with a modern open concept layout and a wall of windows facing Lake Superior. The views are amazing!
